Breenie winced as Maisor cleverly announced his presence to the goblins. But she heard Teric shouting now, too, so she stopped creeping along the forest's edge and nocked an arrow in her shortbow. Half-recognizing Lorival's spellcasting from their previous travels together, Breenie took careful aim at the nearest goblin that was not the one Lorival was pointing at and loosed her arrow. Then she faded back into the shadows beneath the trees in an attempt to remain out of view--and to keep an eye on Maisor and Lorival where they stood on and along the road.
(Edited RP only to match Lorival's edit of her actions.)
Breenie isn't aware of Teclis, so she wouldn't know to aim at the same goblin. So say she shoots at Goblin #3.
Attack with advantage (because the goblins are surprised): Attack: 22 Damage: 8
If she hits, additional Sneak Attack damage: 1
Stealth check (still in the shadows/trees): 8 (That's a natural 1, by the by. <sigh>)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Killian rushes forward.
"What are goblin doing in these parts, I hate goblins." he grumbles.
Then he adds "I have to stop talking to myself."

When he comes into range he will fire one arrow then ditch the longbow and draws his swords before charging in the goblins back. He will roar to attract their attention and draw them from the two strangers.
Demek seeing his friends attack from the other side runs to flank from his side. He draws his longsword out from his sheath and moves up to attack the nearest goblin.
Finally reaching the fray, and unaware of allies in the woods, Teric was still concerned with the odds and against his better judgement, decided to engage directly.
Bearing down on the nearest goblin (#5 not taken right?) , he ducked a blow and took a couple vicious slashes at it before stepping back to draw it in, then thrusting the heel of his boot directly at the middle of his chest.
Attack with short sword: Attack: 18 Damage: 5 Bonus action, Unarmed Strike: Attack: 24 Damage: 4

OOC: So, everyone had their surprise round. I'm going to assume the goblins aren't going to roll higher than a 23 (quite frankly, I'm surprised I rolled that high), so I'll go ahead and post my Round 1 turn. Widowleaf, how much do you want us to narrate the battles, and how much do you want to narrate? I have DMs that go both ways. Some want us to just dictate our movement, actions and bonus actions, and then they do the storytelling (Mercer style). Others want the players to tell their actions, etc. in story form so their posts are less repetitious. My preference is that you would write the story from our more plain instructions since you know if our attacks land, but either way works.
If Goblin #5 is still standing after Teric's attack, Maisor will attack it. Next in line would be Goblin #3. If Goblin #3 is also down after Breenie's attack, Maisor'll go for Goblin #7 to aid Demek.
Maisor says a short phrase in Orc, smirking at one of the Goblins.
Vicious Mockery — wisdom save 13 — or it takes 1 damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn
OOC: Does anyone else speak Orc? If so, I'll start writing out what he says (i.e. coming up with what he says).
Bonus action: Maisor looks at Demek, gives him a cheeky wink, and says, "Demek, you old son of a biscuit-eater, you can do better than that. Give 'em hell!" (Bardic Inspiration)
Demek: You get a d6. Once within the next 10 minutes, the creature can roll the die and add the number rolled to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw it makes. The creature can wait until after it rolls the d20 before deciding to use the Bardic Inspiration die, but must decide before the DM says whether the roll succeeds or fails. Once the Bardic Inspiration die is rolled, it is lost. A creature can have only one Bardic Inspiration die at a time.
Maisor doesn't move; he stays 35 feet away from the group.
Widowleaf, how much do you want us to narrate the battles, and how much do you want to narrate? I have DMs that go both ways.
Great Question! To piggyback - in my previous Play by Post experience, for the DM's who liked descriptive actions, it was important to remember to describe what you are attempting but never what happens as a result. Always "leave room" for the DM to fill in the details of your success or failure.

So Lorival spell Hideous Laughter sparkles in the night air, as her words and jesters meet in an arcane flash. The Goblin#1 falls to ground laughing uncontrollability. “Goblins are attacking someone on the road” is yelled by Teric and his voice carries in the night alerting the goblins that someone is coming. From the shadows of the tree the elven hunter Teclis who has been tracking his prey is able to shoot and deliver the elven justice. The goblin #2 goes to swing at the male plainsman is met with elven justice in the throat as the arrow strikes him killing him. Another arrow flies in the night sky as Breenie notices that Goblin #3 is looking around trying to find his courage. Her arrow strikes the vermin and he dies with arrow in the eye piercing the brain. “What are goblins doing in these parts, I hate goblins. I have to stop talking to myself” He says while aiming at Goblin #4 his arrow his anger adds to his aim he hits the goblin killing him right after the human male stabs the goblin with a spear. Demek tries to flank the goblin #6 and swings the Goblin being more aware drops out the way as the sword misses him. Teric reaches the goblin #1 on ground laughing and runs his sword down with twisting combo of sword and fist. Goblin#6 get distracted by the Vicious Mockery as cast by dashing Bard Maisor, then Maisor says an encouraging word to Demek (Bardic Inspiration). The remaining Goblins #5,6,7 look to each other and start to run into the woods.
The female plainsman looks to group and says in common “My thanks to each of you! I don’t know if we would have survived that.”
The male plainsman dressed in leathers goes to grab his spear and says in common” We would of killed these scum Daughter of the Chieftain. We do not need the help of these outsiders on our holy quest.”
“Riverwind you will not speak to these heroes like that but we can manage from here”. The woman identified as the Chieftain’s Daughter appears to be regal and full of nobility.

Maisor approaches the pair of plainsmen, his hands hiding his rapier under his coat and then returning empty. "Are either of you hurt? That was quite a flash we saw earlier." He flashes a toothy grin at the two.
Demek sheathes his sword he thinks to himself would Kerwin have missed, he chastises mentally to not let those doubts take root in his head he just has to get better to live up to his friends. He walks around standing next to Maisor and puts his hand on his hilt and a non-threatening way. He eyes the two sun tanned human before him and whispers to Maisor.
"He's a big guy, you think that staff did the blue flash?"
Demek looks for Lorival to see what she might think.
Keeping an ear on the conversation, Teric steals an occasional glance at the strangers. Moving to each of the goblins, in turn, he gives them each a kick or two to verify their demise, happy to let the others start the conversation.

As the remaining goblins fled into the trees, Breenie frowned. Before she could take aim again, however, they were gone. As Maisor engaged the strangers in conversation, Breenie edged out of the woods, although she kept her bow in one hand and an arrow ready in the other.
Breenie met the gazes of the strangers with her customary directness, nodding a hello but not interrupting. Maisor was better at the talking thing than she was, anyhow. She flashed a genuine if somewhat terse smile at Demek and Teric, because she hadn’t had the chance yet and it was good to see them both, whatever the circumstances.
Breenie stepped closer to Teric, watching as he checked to be sure the fallen goblins stayed that way. “I’m not sure we shouldn’t have run down the rest of them,” she murmured quietly to Teric. “What if there are more, and they bring back help?”
Then she looked closer at the arrows currently protruding from the goblins and frowned even harder. “Killian fired at one. I fired at one. Where did that third arrow come from?”
Even as she asked, she recognized the elven craftsmanship and lifted her head, eyes narrowed as she scanned the treeline looking for their one missing companion.
OOC: I’m not clear on whether we know Teclis and he just hasn’t joined us yet, or if we don’t know him at all. I’m guessing the former, but if I’m wrong I can adjust my post. Just let me know!
Breenie stepped closer to Teric, watching as he checked to be sure the fallen goblins stayed that way. “I’m not sure we shouldn’t have run down the rest of them,” she murmured quietly to Teric. “What if there are more, and they bring back help?”
Gazing off into the trees the direction the goblins fled, Teric nods in agreement. "Maybe? If there were more of us certainly! I've heard it's not a good idea to chase goblins into heavy cover." As she assesses the arrows Teric almost absentmindedly plucks her arrow from the nearest goblins eye, careful not to damage it if possible and holds it out toward her. "Yes. Who's arrow indeed?"

The man identified as Riverwind looks at the group of strangers. “Is there a place nearby to get food?” He asks knowing his female companion expects that of him.
Maisor curses, looking back the way they'd come. "I forgot about Otik. I'm going to run ahead. Escort these two, right?" Maisor looks at each of his companions before running back toward the Inn.
Out of the shadows Teclis calls out in the elven tongue "Such human ignorance to let the goblins escape. Do you really think it wise to let them run off after seeing your faces?" Teclis lowly step out of the shadows. W/a proud look upon his face. He looks at Breenie and says "I'll take my arrow half-human".
Maisor pulls the door to the Inn open in a rush, flying inside. Tika looks up from behind the bar and clucks her tongue at him. "You're very late," she smiles. "Again."
Maisor winks at her, giving a little salute. "Reporting for duty," he says a little out of breath.
Glancing over her shoulder toward the unseen further reaches of the Inn, she pulls a lute out from under the bar and hands it across to Maisor. "Hurry up. I don't know that he's noticed yet. He's been busy brewing."
Maisor rests the instrument against his belly and strums a harmonious chord. Half walking, half dancing around the tables, Maisor plays an Elven love song.
As Teclis called out, Breenie’s face turned pink beneath her freckles. “Don’t see you chasing ‘em down, neither,” she muttered under her breath. “Arse.”
Out loud, in clear and deliberate Common, she replied, “Just as soon be full human, to be honest.”
Might as well be. My mother and the only father I’ve ever known are.
Turning to Teric, Breenie smiled and accepted her recovered arrow from him with a quiet, “Thanks.” Stooping, she worked loose Killian’s arrow, as well, and wiped both arrows clean on the nearest goblin.
“Come on, Teric,” Breenie said as she straightened. “Let’s go have a drink or three where there are fewer raging racists. Killian’s buying.”
Then she walked toward Killian, intent on returning his arrow before she followed the others toward then Inn of the Last Home. The third arrow, she left stuck in the goblin Teclis had killed.
I guess I can go ahead and roll for initiative for after the surprise round ...
