Edit: just read the rules for dawn of worlds. This sounds like so much fun. Think they played this game in Join the party season 2 or something like it. #nerdingout
The idea in itself is beautiful and original, but, in my opinion, still a little bit unripe - in the sense that the rules should be structured and defined with even greater precision. They still seem to me largely based on consensus and common sense - which in itself wouldn't be a bad thing... were it not that, depending on the distributions of those qualities among participants, the resulting world quality can vary drastically.
I think that, at the moment, only a very high quality group would be able to produce a world that has a depth and charm similar to the official ones.
This without detracting from the fact that, however, the creation part of the world can still be very fun to play, regardless of the final quality of the resulting world... And that a great way to better structure the system is no doubt start using it, even in its embryonic stages, in order to better understand how to improve it.
Okay, to narrow things down, as I got 6 responses, I'd like everyone to post a Deity Persona they'd be interested in playing as in the world creation.
The idea being this, I'd set the scene on the plane of creation, we'd mix some roleplay in with the Dawn of Worlds stuff. The roleplay will affect the world, which might vary from a completely faithful DoW game.
I'll be playing Seldanna, creator of the world, who existed before all things, alone, until one day she noticed an irregularity in the smooth cosmos. Investigating, spurred on by a curiosity she always had but had never experienced, invented language and thought and expressed one thing: "That's funny, I wonder what happens if I do this."
This created the Elemental Chaos, where you were born. Where you live now is Elysium, a palace built by Seldanna that overlooks the chaos that roils below. There is a wilderness area here that has basic animal-like spirits and plants, and you are aided by ephemeral spirits that follow your commands intelligently but have no independent thought.
Her persona is here:
Name: Seldanna Alignment: NG [This isn't hard and fast, just trying to gauge things.] Domains of Influence: Creation, Childbirth. (Don't pick more than 2 things here yet.) Accomplishments: Creation of matter and energy, creation of life. Mother of the Gods.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God Adewild: Shadows and Light 2 Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Symbol: Circle of seven stars, or nine stars encircling a flowing red mist, or a single star
Accomplishment: Mystra (pronounced “MISS-trah”), the Mother of all Magic, is a greater deity and the second incarnation of the goddess of magic after her predecessor Mystryl sacrificed herself to protect the Weave from Karsus’s Folly.
Name: Vyalanx Alignment: CN Domains of Influence: Change, Growth Accomplishments: The Creator of Transmutation Magic. The middleman in the cycle of life and death, and the creator of evolution that makes all distinct.
I'm looking for 4 other people to create a world using Dawn of Worlds. We'd then run a 5e game in the world.
Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God
Adewild: Shadows and Light 2
Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Will this be done over discord? If not I am super interested, this seems really fun!
I am down for this. Do you have more details about your expectations regarding post frequency (posts/day) and schedule (week days vs week ends)?
Count me in

Sounds interesting I am interested in joining
Sounds fun if one of the 4 above don't join.

I'd love to if it's available still!

You think the Forgotten Realms has charm?
Liarin: Against the Cult of the Reptile God
Adewild: Shadows and Light 2
Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
We'd play here.
Dawn of worlds would use an off site digital whiteboard.

Adewild: Shadows and Light 2
Brother Thaddeus: Rime of the Frostmaiden.
Yeah, then I’d love to play
