He’ll quickly drop the illusion as the baker swipes the pie away. He chuckles at the result of his little joke. He’s going to strongly consider repeating the trick on the next pie if Yabo is still in the running, but he won’t bother if Yabo drops out.
"It looks like we have a tie! It seems we'll never know who loves my pies more!" the Baker announces, "For winning this contest you have each earned a Medal of the Meat Pie!" She hangs a small tin medal shaped like a meat pie over Yabo's head, then steps over and hangs one over the halfling who has started snoring in her chair.
The drow, now joined by the human Irvan returns to Gan and Baetrix and pays them their 3 silver and 1 gold respectively. "Good show, I particularly liked that bit of illusion magic. I'm Galsariad by the way. You and your friends keep it up and perhaps you'll get chosen for the finale"
Medal of the Meat Pie
You gain 2d4 + 2 temporary hit points when you use an action to press this medal to your mouth. Once this property has been used, it can’t be used again, and the medal becomes nonmagical.
While magical, this medal is slightly warm to the touch (as if it’s fresh from the oven) and smells faintly of baked pie crust.
Yabo scoops up the rest of the halfling's unfinished pie, and perhaps spots the one the baker swept to the side and snags that one too, getting his stuff and walking over to the rest of the group.
"This's good 'ie! Lookit 'y 'edal!", he says proudly, holding it up with a claw before letting it clang against his shell and stabbing a chunk of meat with the claw and transferring it to his mouth with a pleased rumble.
Onizos had drifted to the back of the crowd and dropped his orcish disguise. Then he saunters back to his friends. He arrives in time to catch what Galsaraid was saying.
“Yabo, I’m not surprised at your victory, I’m only sorry that I missed the performance. But what’s this about a finale?”
Irvan chimes in "At the end of the festival, the judges decide which groups showed the most merit and invite them to a finale competition" He looks to Galsariad sheepishly and says, "Hopefully Ayo and the others are doing better than us" as he braces his hand against his stomach.
Ok! Galsariad and Irvan politely say farewell and head off towards the Wetwalks (the shoreside area of Jigow). The party instead follows a crowd that disperses from the pie eating contests and heads deeper into the Jumble where you hear the Gauntlet takes place. The bustle of the festival extends beyond the competitions, every street you go down is lined with revelers and merchants peddling trinkets. You pass a low budget play put on by street performers depicting myths from the Calamity. Adults representing the gods orate while children with toy swords play fight and represent the humans. All in front of large wooden cutouts of Exandria's two moons. A large silver moon for Catha, and a smaller red painted circle for Ruidus.
Continuing through the streets, they eventually open up to a small square where you finally see the Gauntlet. Through the middle of the square runs a raised wooden contraption. A long gangway is surrounded by wooden paddles, swinging weights, gears, pullies, and you even think you spot some blades mingled in the machinery. At the far end there is an aarakocra standing by a staircase inviting contestants to make a run.
"Test your skills against the gauntlet! Make it to the end, earn a medal! Just 3 silver to try"
Near the entrance you overhear a female ogre in leather armor encouraging a reluctant male goblin in a brestplate to give it a try.
"Come on, I've got it all figured out", she says" I'm just too big to try"
"Oh my, no way. Do you want to see me go flying across this square?", the goblin responds
((Rage fades after one round.))
Yabo takes a more measured approach to the next pie.

Onizos, the well dressed drow notices your spellcasting and smirks watching you more closely now ((are you still disguised as an orc?))
Yeah

Yabo and the halfling both failed to finish this pie. A bit of pie hangs out of the halfling's mouth as she slouches into her chair.

Yabo groans and stands, stretching his arms and legs as if he's making more room in his shell as he tries to maintain composure.

He lets out a mighty belch and sits back down, spearing some of the unfinished pie on his claws and popping it in his mouth.

Gan takes the three silver pieces from Galsariad.
"What's this grand finale thing?" Gan asks Galsariad. "More pie?"
He pats Yabo's shell again when he shows up with all the extra pies.
"A halfling?" Gan says. "Her stomach has to be smaller that your small toe. Must be those second breakfasts they eat."
He then looks around for where the other two got off to.
Yabo shrugs, munching happily while admiring his medal.

"Na'e's Ya'o, 'leased to 'eetcha.", he says, extending a freshly cleaned claw while muffling a burp with the other.

“I’ll have a go,” he announces confidently.
