Looking for player for a relaunching of an old campaign, this time it will follow the characters from the original almost 3 years later as they are each asked to represent some group in the international council, the governing body for the plane, the players will be together in that they are the clear outcasts among the politicians all having adventuring backgrounds however each players also has their own personal goals and secrets to keep. As well as the goals and secrets of the groups they represent. This political campaign will have an emphasis on RP and Reputation mechanics while also interlacing some adventures and combats, after all you never know when a diplomatic envoy may be targeted for an assasination.
background information on the world: For centuries the Plane of Gudsvanlig, an endless sea where men need not question if the gods are real for their existence is fact with some even leading nations, has been divided into two geographical regions. the Mainland, a gargantuan continent broken into 3 (now 4) extremely powerful and populous nations. And the Archipelago, a blanket term to associate all the independent island nations that are scattered across the endless sea. The Mainland Nations all express complete autonomy however the Archipelago in the interest of rivaling the power the Mainland nations would otherwise dwarf the individual islands with, conglomerated together to form the international council, a collection of higher and lower courts with representatives and senators to govern the international relations and laws. Until recently the mainland nations, the league of commerce, and the church of Maor, have been outlawed from having any position within the international council, however after much deliberation the council decided to invite the groups into equal representation as the other islands and nations of the plane are afforded. Many politicians of the archipelago are discontent with this development.
Background: I imagine him being heavily involved in technology and innovation. He very much sees it as the way of the future, thus butting heads with those more focused on tradition and history. Perhaps he is part of a council or group focused on technology or commerce, perhaps the head of a company that makes something.
How corrupt/corruptable is your character?: I would say that he is somewhat corrupt, he is very pragmatic and does not shy away from getting his way or getting things done. I can see him taking bribes and giving bribes, he would probably blackmail people and spy on them, but I dont see him committing murder or assassination. But I like the idea of fleshing out how far he is willing to go to get his way. He does not do things out of malice.
What is your play style?: I am usually the DM and thus enjoy world building, Ive always wanted to be a part of a game where influence, reputation, and downtime rules were all used. I believe that this will be a healthy mix of things and I very much look forward to it.
Class: Sorcerer (I am eager to use the Lunar lineage, once it is released)
Background: if there is tolerance for the astrologically-minded in Gudsvanlig, this is the area I imagine my character will specialize in. Though his sorcerous power is innate, he will have studied the stars for years, acting as the Archmage of some soothsaying guild. If you are interested, shoot me a PM and we can collaborate to make a setting-specific backstory.
Corruptibility: I see him as being absolutely unwavering in his morals, as steadfast as a stone. Bribery is out of the question... most of the time, anyway.
Play style: I'd consider myself somewhat of a chameleon when it comes to playstyle - I've DMd a lot in the past, but especially enjoy supporting roles (both in combat and in RP... I like to help draw other PCs and their characters out of themselves a little, so we collectively build an engaging story).
Background: a loyal zealot of a god and a general of the primus tyrannus, leads the legion of Xol has interest into the arcane and agricultural, has a wife and is a loving father you can PM me about god and his leader
Corruptibility: he’s a man who would do anything to protect his wife and his men and to expand the primus reach
play-style: I do not mind most ideas I really like fleshing out characters and such love RP interactions with other players and Dms NPC also do not mind combat
background: After caretaking her grove for nearly a century, Valanthe was forced from her home. A battle ravaged the Grove and left nothing for her to tend. So she set out to seek deeper knowledge of how to protect her grove from events such as these.
how corrupt/corruptable is your character?: Not corrupt, not easy to corrupt.
What is your play style?: Still a newish player, figuring out playstyle. Like interactions with other players and working together to solve problems.
What is your approximate age: 45
what is your timezone: central (work overnights, weird schedule)
Backstory: Ryu was born to a rich couple, but Ryu however decided that the riches he possessed would do nothing but hinder him, so he sought out a temple that could teach him the way of the fist. Ever since then, Ryu learned to live as both a noble and a peasant, and will do what he needs to do to make sure that everyone is given fair play and treatment.
Ryu would be hard to corrupt and would turn down a generous bribe easily, however he can lose his temper easily I you press the right buttons, mainly the ones about his father.
I am a new player and I like fight scenes and interactions with other players.
I may be late the thread but if there is still an opportunity to join I would be interested!
Race: Halfling
class: Rogue
background: Callum grew up on the streets as an orphan struggling to survive. He had a natural talent for stealth, thievery, and pickpocketing that offered an meager means of keeping himself fed. The lifestyle of the common crook did not sit well with Callum's deeper sense of morality that instilled a sense of honor among thieves. Although Callum would never steal from someone who was worse off than him, any rich or well-off targets were fair game in his eyes. It was this that led him to steal from a minor government officials house. Little did Callum now that he was being stalked from the start. In the instant he thought he hit the jackpot with an unlocked safe a hand shot out of the dark to grab his wrist. Knowing he was caught, he admitted his crime and offered to make amends. His captor being impressed by his skills offered him a choice; work as a spy gathering information for the local government, or jail. Callum chose to follow his morals and use his talents for good. Agreeing to the offer, he was taken under the wing of the intelligence official who became a mentor as well as a resource. Callum's only focus now is atoning for his colorful past by protecting from the shadows.
how corrupt/corruptable is your character?: He fights hard to not fall back to the corruption that he grew up around but he definitely is not invincible to being manipulated by a skilled hand.
What is your play style?: I am easy going and like combat and using skill checks to help tell the story
class: Fighter (intended samurai, though depending on the party makeup I’d be happy To switch to a Paladin)
background:
Sirrias Rickard van Draken, a member of the Rickard school of swordsmanship and an up and coming knight at arms. A adept in warfare in a traditional sense, Sirrias is now on a different type of quest as his family’s political representative. His goal is simple, to learn from those who practice a more subtle art as his final trial before true knighthood, and to protect the small amount of influence his family has just begun to foster. Of noble minor noble birth, his grandmother was knighted after fighting honorably in wars long past, setting up her family comfortably for future generations. Sirrias first son of the current generation of the Rickard van Draken family has taken up the mantle of knighthood for his family, fighting for his lord or lady as they see command within reason, of course. As the eldest son, Sirrias is the most public facing of his siblings (he has 4 of them) he has garned attention as an honorable warrior and loyal servant to those who he deems worthy. He takes the pressure of his privileged position and carries the weight, though heavy as he was taught to do, even if sometimes he wises he could leave it all behind...
how corrupt/corruptable is your character?: he’s eager to prove but steadfast to his morality. That said, his eagerness and unfamiliarity with this new occupation could provide opportunities for corruption.
What is your play style?: I love social play and character interactions as a means of driving Interpersonal narratives. I do appreciate combat and skill checks to be available but they don’t have to be the center of the experience. Games with layers of intrigue or deceit are also when my rp tends to thrive
Race: Human (possibly variant) Class: Wizard Background: (Courtier) Born by another name now long forgotten, Nostromos was raised in a national orphanage. An early talent for reading, he was given patronage by a circle of local scholars who realized his potential for magical aptitude, ultimately seeing him become an acolyte (to an academy or cadre) of wizards who served the nobility. In time, he earned a place at court, advising on matters of magic. How corrupt/corruptible is your character?: Highly ambitious, but careful not to show it. Nostromos will partake in corruption cautiously, but prefers to be the one pulling the strings. What is your play style?: Roleplayer - I like to immerse in my character concept and the game setting. I've seen so very few options for deeply political gameplay on DDB PBP but have quite a bit of experience in it from other games / TTRPG settings. I like to flesh out the character with the PCs and DM before locking in the character's hard personality traits, then play them to their fullest. how corrupt/corruptable is your character?: Unwavering in what she believes is right

Not sure if I'm too late, but here's my offering...
Race: Elf or Half-Elf
Class: TBD (leaning towards Bard or multiclassing into Bard)
Background: Noble
Concept: "The Legacy" Named for a distant relative (actually my favorite character from an earlier campaign) who was a renowned diplomat and hero. Unfortunately, rather than inspiring confidence this has just led to deep rooted self-doubt.
How Corruptible: Initially, not at all. Idealistic with a naive sense that we are all here for the greater good and to defend what is right. I anticipate the slide from "black & white" to "shades of grey" will be part of my character's development as things progress.
Play Style: Raised by a pack of wild grognards, I was always the "token role-player". Would love to participate in a campaign where character development and non-combat encounters (social interactions, intrigue, mysteries, puzzles, ect.) we're the norm or even focus.
Experience & Approximate Age: I started playing TTRPGs in middle School, about 3 decades ago. Was involved with the D&D Next play test but have never played 5e. My D&D experience is mostly 2e Skills & Powers, although I preferred 3e (overruled by the DM and outvoted by the other players).
Race: Changeling (Eberron "Legacy" version is what I have access to here)
class: Warlock (Fathomless)
background: Originally from a seaside village, he was lost in the ocean and presumed dead, but instead was saved by, and became a loyal adherent to, his patron, the Fathomless. He sees this as being chosen to be the protector of his people (which role he has fulfilled several times, becoming a local hero) and is a fiercely loyal nationalist, which explains how he was chosen to be a representative. [Side note: I am using "he" here but I am open to making the character either male or female]
how corrupt/corruptable is your character?: He will do nothing to betray the interests of his homeland (well, as least as he sees those interests, which may not always be in line with leaders back home) but he is otherwise more than willing to use his power and influence to feather his own nest and advance any personal agendas
What is your play style?: My writing style tends to be terse, so I generally don't go in for long posts. I will respond fairly frequently on most days, but will try to not over-do it so that players who can't post as frequently don't get left out. I tend to create competent characters and play to their strengths, while accepting that they also have weaknesses that can be used against them. Honestly I think PbP is better suited for RP-heavy games as opposed to a more combat/encounter based campaign due to the how long combat, etc., turns can take. Warning: I will interject sarcastic humor at random intervals.
What is your approximate age: older than you (~50)
Appearance: White-skinned human female dressed in a crown of demon horns, spike-studded leather armor, and a bloodred cape.

Background: Sin is a talented actress, acrobat, and juggler at a fiendish traveling circus that shows up in a town for a night, attracts a crowd, and begins a chaotic revelry that often turns into a bloodbath. She was once the heir of a minor house that seriously control-freaked over her, so she literally ran away to the circus, where she made a demonic pact and began a life of pleasure-seeking and self-expression.
