I'm recruiting 2-4 more players to join existing Spelljammer Academy games in progress, to replace a few players that have unfortunately had to drop out due to the dreaded Real Life. You can see the original recruitment post here. Roles that our crews could particularly use include the following (but don't let this stop you if you have a different concept in mind):
ship's security (don't worry, I'm sure the red uniform doesn't mean anything...)
ship's medic (those security people need so much patching up...)
general support (probably a jack-of-all-trades or buff-type spellcaster interested in being a backup/secondary pilot)
You'll be joining at the start of the second 'episode' of the adventure, at level 2. To apply, just reply to this thread with a general idea of your character concept and what role you see yourself playing on the crew.
I'd like to get our ships flying again as soon as possible, so recruitment will be open for 36 hours from this post. I look forward to hearing from you!
I have a couple that I'd like to explore. I'll leave it up to you to pick which one would suit best.
For security role: Rawley. He's former half-orc soldier who fell on hard times and took to the drink for many years. At one hazy day he got the shit kicked out of him by a slight female at a bar fight and taken captive for a few days. It forced him to get sober and he was given a choice of death or changing his ways. He chose the latter, has been sober since and is a grim and stoic man with a long fuse, but a large explosion. There is nobody waiting for him, nobody cares that he exists and he's on a mission of standing up for ones that cannot do it themselves.
For medic role: Erma. She's a dwarven cleric who lost all three of her sons in a war and has since inserted her into the most violent places she could find in an attempt to prevent other mothers from going through the same. She has developed a very utilitarian view - if killing one person will save the lives of two then she has no problem with it at all.
I was thinking of a sorcerer elven woman. Her father was a renowned archaeologist that would travel the world studying every ruin he could get his hands on and would always take his beloved daughter with him. Because of this constant travelling, they haven't really had much contact with anyone else, so they don't have any friends and no other family members to keep contact with. Their only contact with society was when they came back from their journeys to share all they found, but this only meant a few days of sharing knowledge with other fellow scholars, so no real deep relationships were ever forged.
In their last travel, the father had an accident which caused his death. So this PC is now on her own, has decided that needs a getaway and the Spelljammer Academy could give her precisely this. Also, the possibility to know other cultures throughtout the whole universe is very enticing to her.
Regarding the ship role, I could see her as general support, I guess.
Regarding the sorcerous origin, I haven't thought about it yet. I can do it if I get selected to join the adventure.
For ship's medic/ support: Gasp, a Air Genasi Bard who wishes to fly the stars, searching for the one that left him his first instrument. He was charmed by their song and followed their path of entertainment. He traveled to many towns and cities, searching many taverns and inns, seeking for his mentor and muse. One day while performing for his meal and stay, a patron mentions how he plays like another bard. Gasp inquires of this bard yet the patron dismisses him by saying they play from a place beyond this world. But Gasp is elated, his mentor is still alive and his muse can still bring him inspiration. It just lies beyond the stars.
Hi. I would love to join this campaign ever since I got booted out of my previous one due to my dm quitting.
I would put Eris (tabaxi artificer) either as security or general support, I'm not sure yet; She's a space cat humanoid officer who enjoys exploring the galaxy in her own personal ship and she recently trained with her former tabaxi crew part-time as a security guard to make sure no one dares to harm her or her crew. Her recent promotion from a regular scout collecting data from other planets was due to her alertness and her ability to get the crew out of sticky situations under pressure, especially when their defences have been breached. However there is still a lot of room for improvement as she is new to these responsibilities.
One day whilst travelling out in the open space, she saw another mysterious ship that looked like it was in need of saving, though they could not tell what is was or even with their advanced technology. Although reluctant due to caring for Eris' own safety, her captain eventually gave her the orders to investigate as long as she does not endanger the crew like a previous incident a while back. With that order given, Eris is eager to use her newfound knowledge to potentially defend and befriend other life forms other than her own... and possibly develop some more skills along the way that could benefit her own crew. Although Eris has previous knowledge when it comes to flying a spaceship, flying a Spelljammer variant would be out of her own abilities but even then she would be willing to try it out for once.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Seria (Female Dragon-In-Disguise Sorcerer, Draconic Bloodline, Year Without Santa)
Brynn Wisefire (variant human, monk/investigator) was born on the planet Arysta, in the kingdom of Velious. A very religious nation and as a youth joined the monastery of the Silver Shield, who specialized in protecting the people from wrongdoers according to the laws of god and man. When a spell jammer ship crash-landed, Brynn took the opportunity to sail among the stars.
Princess was and raised in the streets, and has no idea what her family, name, or really anything about her past is. She goes by Princess because that is what the other street kids called her as she was growing up, partially because she was pretty and partially because she is fanatical about being clean and cleanliness.
Princess will have joined the academy on a scholarship when her clean appearance, mannerly personality, and aptitude for magic was noticed by a recruiter.
Princess could fill a support, buff, or blaster roll depending on what spells she takes, which would depend on what the crew needed. So ship security or general support.

Hello!
Let's try this :)
I was thinking of a sorcerer elven woman. Thanks!
