OOC: It looks like no one else is actively clamoring for the sword, if I am wrong please tell me.
Prince Dueragn waited patiently for everyone to have a look at the blade, but then once they were finished he slung the sheath over his body so as to hold it across his back. "I suggest we head to the closest point marked on the map and start there. Maybe we'll find tracks, or a clue to the beasts true nature or intent."
"I'm with Prince Dueragn on that matter. Besides, I don't really like to walk too much with these gnarled foots of mine, so the nearest point sounds feasible for me!"

The white-haired elf's ears perked up and could only shyly smile and nod at the kind words of the red-eyed girl and the dwarf. Then once the conversation started up again she disappeared into the crowd to fix her hair and having officially met her quota of formally fancy crowd-socializing for the day stealth 18
"I'm with Prince Dueragn on that matter. Besides, I don't really like to walk too much with these gnarled foots of mine, so the nearest point sounds feasible for me!"
"The nearest point--!" Ghost popped out in front of nowhere in front of Mr. Sparks, having snatched the map and her green eyes shining with excitement. It also looks like that she officially lost her formal tone.
"--is just outside of this depressing town's gates. There is an apple orchard where the monster was said to have eaten from, so let's see if we can find some tracks so we know what we're looking for when we get lost in the woods! And if we ask the lady of the orchard that we're on a quest to hunt the Thessalhydra, then maaaybe we can convince her to spare a bushel we can use as bait?"
(Also, LeinadetheAlchemist the link to your character sheet is broken...)
...the group (that for now have no name yet), politely and a more friendly matter then the previous watchful eye. "I have already a idea for it : The wild Hunt...it would go very well with your name of Ghost, however If the others want I can propose other ideas, I'm not against it."
And with one pivot of her foot, she quickly and suddenly ends up walking beside the girl with the red eyes and horns once she was outside of the keep.
"Y'know, I was thinking about the name you said, Ms. Baeldon. It's got a nice ring to it, but I don't think we should go around calling ourselves the Wild Hunt if the beast isn't actually wild. An appetite of mutton and apples sounds a lot like a wild bear...but as Ms. Redcat pointed out wild beasts don't normally have the mind to attack a place guarded with several armed men...or disappear in front of them without leaving any tracks behind. Isn't that right, Ms. Redcat?"
Just outside the gates you come upon the outer perimeter of the orchard. You see that every tree has been denuded. There is evidence of a large creature having ravaged the area. Down into the center of orchard is a small farm house. There is an old man rocking in a chair on the porch and a young man tending to chores on the outside and you can tell he’s in the process of cleaning up the aftermath of the destruction.
As you are approaching you can hear the two bickering back and forth, but you can’t make out what they are saying. At the mention of Sir Tristan, the younger one stops and gestures to the group wildly,
“…Ah! you see! I bet that’s why these strangers are here! Surely our lord has hired this band to hunt that thing down!”
The older one just crosses his arms. “Bah!” he scoffs with a furrowed brow.
“Please excuse my father’s manners. His days of work are long behind him and he doesn’t know what dangers lie out here…” he side-eyes the older one and says a bit too loudly “IN THE REAL WORLD!” He looks back to you all, “how may we be of service?”
"My Dearest Sers, by any chance have you seen the beast itself which ruined this beautiful orchard? Can you show us where it was headed from here?" - steps ahead the small goblin - "Also, please accept my greatest codolences for your loss! The loss of our valuables is always a tragedy."

" How about the Head Hunters?" The Dwelf suggests. "It's intimidating and classic. And we are going to cut down a lot of heads, right? "

"Sir Tristan promised handsome rewards for avenging your trees!" Betty never sees Sir Tristan as her lord. Her enclave obeys nothing but nature itself. But she doesn't mind speaking highly of him. After all, Sir Tristan is a kind and good ruler." Now, if you don't mind, I want to check the trail of the monster. " The Dwelf crouches over the footprint of the Hydra, holding her pendant and chanting in Elvish.
"So...If Wild hunt isn't a good name for a team, may Someone suggests something else maybe during our walk toward the beast."
She said as she whispered to her group, she was thinking about more names of teams as she show a beginning of impatience.
As they approached the orchard, the white-haired elf winked, summoned the spirit back to herself, then put her hooded cloak back on to obscure her white hair.
"Peace, dear sister-in-arms," she whispers and gives Urzan a gentle hand on the shoulder, "I think our nerves will be tested far more than just having to come up with a name for our company."
Just outside the gates you come upon the outer perimeter of the orchard. You see that every tree has been denuded.
As if in its dying breath, one particularly young tree drops a leaf. Ghost gasps, then swiftly throws a dagger which lands gently on the bark without causing lasting damage.
When the dying leaf touches upon on the dagger's ornate elven design, she procures the leaf in both hands. Placing it close to her heart, she faces the party and addresses them with an undercurrent of rage in her voice.
"I think The Headhunters is a fine name....as an answer to such barbarity."

Moving to behind the treekeepers' sight the elf gestures to the druid and uses thieves cant to communicate that these would-be arborists don't seem to have a drop of elven blood in them (briefly baring her hood and flicking her ear) and don't look like they took any serious injuries (pointing to her arms then pointing at them) from trying to stop the slaughter from happening here (subtly pointing to the trees but with a trembling anger).
If the any of the treekeepers glance back at her, it would look like that this random elf being extra vain and was fixing her appearance.
With a huff, she pulls up her hood and slinks off into the shadows to search the property to see what she can find.

Yes, with those investigation checks you can tell by the tracks that this is a ‘huge monstrosity’. You can also see the scars in the earth that would indicate that it has a large, dexterous tail. Also, you can find places where the guard had battled it and the area is pockmarked and eroded as if burnt away by acid.

“I caught a glimpse of it one night” the young man says. “It was a huge, terrifying thing. Multiple heads that moved like serpents! The soldiers of the guard had come to drive it off, but it ate several of them whole before the rest fled. I heard them call it Thessalhydra, probably due to the whole multiple heads thing”
”Bah!” The old man retorts. “ ‘tain’t no thessal-whatsit. Owlbears it all it was. There’s them owlbears in these here woods. No sense of everyone gettin’ in such a tizzy ‘bout a few little ‘ol’ owlbears.”
”Father, you were asleep the whole time. You didn’t see that thing. It was horrible” the young one says. He looks back to you, “I could hear it retreat off into the wood south west of here just before dawn.” He indicates in that direction. “My senile, old father here is at least right about one thing: there are owlbears around, and other things, too. When I dared venture out it the woods beyond our land a could hear creatures chattering to each other in the shadows.” He drops his voice low and shifts his eyes back and forth, “I’ve also heard rumours of a cursed cave. Those who are foolish enough to enter are never heard from again. Maybe the beast has something to do with that.”
