Dawn's Edge, a quaint coastal city known for it's uncharacteristically cheerful people. Not much happens there, or so most think. People have been disappearing, strange symbols written in blood cover the different temples. The mayor is confounded by these strange happenings, which prompts her to ask adventurers to learn why these strange occurrences are happening. With a whole city to explore and many city-folk to question, can you solve the mystery of Dawn's Edge?

Hi. I'm a 14 year old student looking to play D&D. If you don't have a problem with me, I would gladly join your session!
What is the starting level and can we roll for stats?
Level One (it's more RP than combat. I am a first time DM so just be patient with me. I'm still working out the kinks.) and yes, you can roll for stats.
Also, since I'm a student, evenings and the weekends are the best times to play.
Backstory:Lorelor was the product of an illicit affair his elven mother had with a human. He aged quickly compared to the other elves. Being a half-elf he was a constant source of shame for his mother. As was their custom he was exiled when he reached adulthood. Shortly after he began his journey he came upon a traveling bard who started him on his current path to becoming a master bard himself. After reaching the city and playing in a few taverns he was just barely surviving. So he decided in order to make a little extra he would serve in the reserve army as a foot soldier. He managed to rise through the ranks to reach the position of Major but he resigned his commission before ever seeing action. Lorelor still plays in inns and taverns from time to time, and it was here that he overheard some adventurers discussing their latest quest.
Hey there, I've got a couple of character concepts for this if you'd be accepting me into the game. I thought I'd go for a more martial character as I played some spellcasters more recently.
Name: Gohpoh Kraazuk
Race: Half-Orc
Class: Barbarian
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Backstory: Gohpoh is one of those people who doesn't have the best mental capacity. He worked as a labourer in town and has had a decent life, even having a wife and kid. However he does end up being a butt end of jokes, and tries not to give in to his anger. He has been in a jail cell after a couple of incidents previously due to getting a bit too angry, though he tries to keep to his nice side; saving money and trying to buy books for his kid so she won't grow up being stupid like him.
Ability scores:1091361316
Name: Iggar
Race: Kobold
Class: Rogue
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Backstory: Iggar wants to be the greatest swordsman in the land, since he didn't gain the powerful trait of the sorcery bloodlines inherent in kobolds. He carries around a looted sword from a dead adventurer his pack managed to overcome, and now wanders out into the world to show that kobolds are mighty and strong... When he thinks it isn't something he can't take. Then he might try and hide.
Realised both of the above options are a bit "monstrous", so I'll put a more "normal" option
Name: Sora Right
Race: Human
Class: Monk
Alignment: Lawful Good
Backstory: Sora is a monk of the local templates, using her discipline to train her body, mind, and soul. While she does not have the makings of a paladin or cleric of the sun god, she will assist and train with them when she can. She attains peace from this balance from this. However, her temple has now received the same bloody marks that the other religions have received. As she is a free agent, she has been assigned to help the local militia and guards in their investigations.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Name: Harbardr
Race: Hobgoblin
Subclass: School of Abjuration
Alignment: Neutral
Backstory: Harbardr was born in a Hobgoblin fortress. He was quickly chosen to be a soldier, however his mind was turned to other pursuits. He gained an interest in the arcane arts, and sought to use them to protect his friends, for watching death was never something he enjoyed. Gradually, he became estranged from the rest of the hobgoblins, for he was no soldier, and did not use his magic to destroy others, but rather to prevent destruction. One night, he fled the fortress and, after some time, arrived in Dawn’s Edge, where he continued to study wizardry. In recent times, as strange symbols have appeared, he has decided to solve their mystery.
Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
Rolling for stats first and building off that roll:
Ability scores: 131012131014
Trying again going for at least a couple 15s.
Ability scores: 13912101110
That'll do pig.
Name: Ingoa Kore
Race: Half Orc
Class: Fighter
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
Backstory:
(Background: Gladiator) Ingoa Kore was sold to the fighting pits as a child when his father challenged the leadership of his tribe over his refusal to kill his half blood son. Cut from his heritage Ingoa Kore has pursued the love of the only family he had; the audience. Undefeated through a combination of physical prowess and clever tactics, Kore quickly rose to the top of any list of gladiators that mattered. Now, having conquered the challenges of the ring, he seeks to write his name in the history books through adventuring.
I'll have to drop out, I don't have enough time to commit to this campaign.

Horatio Hirschfeld - Squire imbued with fae powers, in the Coliseum of Conquest (W2/L1) DM for Reavers of Harkenwold, and sometimes The Fighting Grounds of the Coliseum
Background: (Entertainer) I'm an actress. At least, I hope one day I can be good enough to be called an actress. I grew up watching the great performers come to my town, and I wanted to be just like them. I practiced. When I turned sixteen, I joined a traveling actor's troupe (against my parents' wishes). I performed all over the countryside. I enjoyed acting out the stories of heroes and villains. The villains were always powerful, but the heroes rose to occasion and conquered in the end (well, usually). I always preferred to play the hero (or heroine). We were small-time performers, but I was happy. One day, our troupe camped in the wilderness on our way from one town to another. I went into the woods to look for firewood when I stumbled upon a skeleton in the woods. It was partially buried and on its bony finger, it wore a beautiful ring. I have never been squeamish, and had no qualms about pulling off the ring to sell when we got to our destination. But no sooner had I touched the ring than I felt an enormous burst of energy emerging from it! I was flung off my feet. When I got up, the ring was gone. I walked back to camp feeling sore and tired. I went to sleep when I woke the next morning, I felt different somehow. Over the next few days, I found I could do things. Magic things. I don't know how it works or how to control it, but I am getting better. That was a few weeks ago. Now I am beginning to wonder if my new found powers will allow me to more literally play the part of a heroine in my own story?
TL;DR I'm a traveling actress who recently gained magical abilities I don't understand.
Backstory: (Urban Bounty Hunter) A Bugbear with a sense of honor? That's a joke, right? Oh! Or maybe your talking about some poor sapped cursed to look like one, right? Well, one would be wrong about that and a lot of other things when it comes to Bixel. And... not so wrong about other things. You see, it took a whole lot of years of incessant goading, having his life spared thrice, and demonstration of a better path in life than the one 'ol Bixel walked as a "simple businessman"/occasional enforcer for a crime boss of some distant city for the Bugbear to begin changing his way. The final nail in the coffin came in the form of her sacrifice on his behalf, but at the price of an assured end to her adventuring day. Unwilling still to give up his ways, but conflicted nevertheless by her actions, Bixel found a happy enough middle ground as something of a Urban Bounty Hunter. All the thrill of violence, a loose enough code of general conduct, and PLUS none of the guilt tripping from the locals.
Except maybe criminal organizations. But he ain't scared! He's got guile, strength, and if there were anything to all her talks about some goddess (or was it a god?) of vengeance smiling favorably on his "good" deeds, why should he worry!
Sadly, A relatively recent scarcity in prey -- er, targets however led the goblinoid to seek out new territory to remedy this. And what better place to start than his old rival's coastal hometown, Dawn's Edge? Plus, didn't he overhear from a visiting merchant something about murderer being on the loose there?
The campaign signup is now over. Anyone who is availablle and posted their character on this thread or in my Private Messages can join. It will start tommorow
I am a new DM, so if I mess up on something, please forgive me.
I will make a separate thread to start the game on. This was the recruiting thread. I hope to see ya'll there!
(You might have to send the link to your campaign or thread to the players you have chosen so that they may join with their D&D Beyond character sheets.)
