I'd be very interested in joining this. I've never played but looking to give DnD a shot. I've got a few character stories in mind that I'm looking to dig more into. Keep me in the loop if this goes anywhere.
I can offer a springboard. I will set up an introduction and It will be up to the others to continue the story. I believe anyone can become a DM. All characters start at level 1. Use point buy for ability scores.
The story begins in Liam's Hold. Home to artisans and crafters. It is a walled hamlet which is a popular stop for caravans on the Trade Way. Waterdeep to the north and Baldur's Gate to the south. It is surrounded by farm land and pastures for livestock. The elves from the Misty Forest are seen on occasion trading mead and honey.
In a 2 story lopsided stone building is the Black Ford Adventuring Guild. It has been raining all day and the paths have become quite muddy. A covered wagon parks near the stables and lets out passenger who pay the driver a silver each. In front hanging over the front door is a wooden sign with rusted crossed swords. It has definitely seen better days. Once inside, there is a feeling warmth as there is a roaring fire in the fireplace and tables with mismatched chairs. On the west wall is a large cork quest board with an assortment of quests. Some are written on parchment and others on dried hide of some unknown beast. There is a mounted owlbear on the east wall with much of its fur faded with time. At the entrance are weapon racks and a sign that reads. Leave your weapons here or you will meet Drundar.
By the counter is Mauvia the guild master. She is oiling her trusted Maul which she calls Drundar. There are several patrons here for her famed drinks and liquors. Many are fellow adventurers playing cards, telling bawdy tales, and boasting about their feats of strength or magic. Behind her are massive casks of ale and wine. In the back is a sizable kitchen where you can hear chuckles and squawks. Your not sure if Brum the dwarven chef is preparing dinner or torturing a goose.
In the corner sits an elderly man talking softly with 2 pixies and nursing a cup of wine. On the table is a large pumpkin. Every once and a while he looks to a gilded notice on the quest board. It says Adventurers wanted. A lifetime of treasure as reward upon completion. See Madryck Roslof for more information. He wonders if any would accept his quest.
(OOC - I'm going with "these pixies told other pixies, who told fairies who told my fairy, who decided to join the quest thinking it'd be fun". Unless you want her to join the quest at the carnival, she'll start here)
A blond fairy flits about the inn, alternating between chatting with the pixies, trying to out-bawdy the bawdy tale tellers and nursing a fine Mead.
Anyone who sees the symbol on her necklace, it's a brass disc with a smile. A mace on the weapon wall has the same symbol.
She pays attention if anyone reads the guilded notice that Madryck put up. "Do ye want to go on an adventure, Lad? (Lass)"
"I'm Orion Silvus and I noticed the sign and was wondering if you are you know where I can find them this Madryck individual? I'm interested in some work and well...That looks like it will do. I could use a good stiff drink too if'n it's not too costly."

Mauvia stands to her full height of 7ft. "Over there in the corner is Madryck Roslof and for a stiff drink I have dwarven brandy. That'll be 1 gold, I only have quality liquors. You'll find no cheap swill here"
Orion raises an eyebrow at Mauvia's full stature and gives a gp saying, "Thank you madam."
Orion heads over to the table in the corner with the gentlemen and makes acquaintances with them.
"My name is Orion. I am looking for some work."
Orion takes a sip of his dwarven brandy and relishes the taste. He savors the beverage like a fine wine. Taking his time while absorbing the ambiance of the city. He does not stray from the grove very often, but when he does, he likes to take it all in.

Madryck Roslof appraises Orion with a keen eye "Yes I believe you can help me. I would like to wait a bit to see if anyone else is interested. Can you tell more of where are you from and what brought you to the dangerous yet thrilling life of adventuring?"
Grew up on the streets having to steal to keep alive. Was forced to work for the local mage who treated him like a lab rat practicing their spells on them.
After one of the spells went drastically wrong the building burnt down. Once Wade woke up he saw his chance to escape his prison and start his own path.
On the streets life was somehow harder, not having a regular meal and being unable to trust anyone he had to steal just to feed himself. With just the scorched clothes on his back, he dreams of a future where he can provide for himself.
Personality (And what scares the character) : - Personality: Has a need to steal whatever they see fit to survive in the tough world - Ideals: To be able to live in a world where he no longer needs to steal - Flaw: Does not trust others easily - Terrified of Magic
A hill dwarf with long braided black hair and mocha skin sits nearby. Half drunk, half intrigued, he turns his ear toward the men, Madryck and Orion. Listening for details of the quest before he decides if it is worth his time. Figuring this might take a bit, he raises his mug toward Mauvia and places a gold piece on his table signaling for another tall horn of ale.
Soon enough, the thumps can be heard again, louder yet. Finally, the doors open and a brown Elf attached to what would be the head of a dull bronze horse walks in, the doors dragging along the horse's body as it does.
The Centaur is not remarkably large, although he does stand out like a sore thumb. Along the horse's back lies a backpack, and attached to his side is a basket. The Elf's hair is braided and thick, with little trinkets here and there. Around his body is a large, vertical leather coat, which reaches down to the horse's knees. Yes, this dude is pretty rich.
Quickly eyeing the tavern, this unusual race ignores the glances, looking for "Aha! The Quest Board." He makes his way over to the West wall.
The centaur sees a variety of quest from gathering herbs or escorting a caravan. The gilded notice does stand out though as who would offer so much treasure for a reward.
What subclass is your monk?

I think we are just waiting for a DM to put a campaign together possibly. If this is still active.

I am fine with the pixies telling a fairy who then told you

A series of thumps can be heard outside the entrance, walking by. It sounds like a horse...
Eventually, the thumps fade away.
The entrance is large enough for larger species. You may enter when ready

"This looks interesting..." the Centaur tells himself, taking a closer look at the Gilded Notice.
