We could start, I'm not sure though if 87306 wants another character. They haven't been active on dndbeyond for 5 days.
(OOC: My impression was that 87306 was really committed to play-testing the Spirit Caller class, so I assume that they'll be back. Maybe just got busy IRL? There's been a lot of OOC discussion, but not much has actually happened in game in the last 5 days, so 87306 hasn't missed much. Probably wouldn't even need to read the posts from those days. Just jump back in and check out the new characters in the campaign.
I'll put some thoughts about handling absences in the message thread, but I'm good with moving the party to the next encounter and just assuming that Saralyn is with us.
It's fine if 87306 just wants to focus on Saralyn: the party no longer feels like it has any big gaps. If 87306 wants to add a secondary character, we could always add them later. Maybe that character and Jorzaeramon are associates and join the party at the same time.)
A human guard and a half-orc guard (half-orc from the attack) come forward. "We will be joining you in the Onyx District. People don't know you, so you look better with guards from the king."
Rain looks alarmed at the late addition of to their group. He isn't sure that he these other guards are telling the truth. (Insight6) He still wonders whether yesterday's attacks on the castle had someone on the inside helping them.
He turns to Corric to make small talk as the group prepares to leave. "So, this emblem on your shield. Is that some sort of family coat-of-arms? You said that you're a healer. Do you mean...like...a true cleric?"
"Sand, do you really want to take two more? Our group is getting quite large! Sometimes a herd of gazelle attract's the lion's attention where a single animal can sneak past unnoticed."
The human gives Rain a suspicious look. "Well, Sand, the king thought we should come as well just so all know we are from the king."
"I think we're fine, thanks. But if the king wants it, we shall." The human bumps into Rain while walking past.
Rain lets that go. He just stares at the human's back after he walks past, wondering whether he's going to have to kill the man today.
Once the group starts walking in town, Rain will choose to walk next to or behind Saralyn or Salchar at first, whichever one is farther from that human guard. He'll try to ask quietly, so that no one else hears (Stealth? 8), "Did you notice anything wrong with that guard's uniform? Or belt?"
Salchar shrugs. "Could just be rude and in a sour mood no? Times see tense afterall.."he says as he brushes Rain's concerns aside. "Perhaps we'll know more as we move forward. Keep eyes on him little one.." He gestures to Corric in a whisper.
Corric responds with a nod as his little legs move rapidly to keep up with his taller allies. He takes a few steps back and observes the guard. (Insight: 22 Perception: 8 )
As you continue on, the roads narrow. Fewer people are on the streets, and you can see many cracks along the buildings. There is less talking, other than the occasional argument, but most thugs scatter as they see the King's men coming.
Sand holds his glaive ready. "Be careful, this is the Onyx District. Lots of criminals."
You are approaching a large home and land, probably of the noble. Some large man looks at Corric and laughs, "Aye, one of them tiny folk, eh?" The man says, brushing his dirty clothing. The half-orc guard gives the man a look at the man, who randomly throws a punch and leaves. "As I said," Sand continues, "This is a criminal hangout. Be on the lookout for fights, black markets, thieves..."
Sand holds his glaive ready. "Be careful, this is the Onyx District. Lots of criminals."
Rain ties his staff to his backpack and pulls one scimitar from its sheath (in his off-hand). Rain keeps is other hand free but makes sure that the quiver of darts is easily available. He positions himself toward the back of the group, where he can hopefully keep an eye on the human who had bumped him earlier and on all of the other members of the party at once.
Corric graps his spear firmly as he whispers a blessing under his breath as Salchar takes out a crystal tipped rod, just over a foot long, shaft made of a dark mahogany wood, polished and pointed. "A noble in a criminal hang out? How tasteless.."he muses
"Mansions are cheaper here, mainly because fewer people want to live here." The dwarf says.
You have now reached the gate of his yard, and Sand proceeds to enter through it. The door opens and a noble comes out and appears to be talking to someone. "You said it was in perfect condition! This is a stolen necklace. I said, I want my money back."

The man he's talking to is clearly a tiefling. His skin is dark red and his eyes are pure black (i.e., no white sclera). He doesn't wear a head covering, and he has short, dark, narrow horns that stick straight up a few inches from the crown of his forehead. His hair is fairly short and dark blue.
The tiefling wears expensive-looking clothes. His light robe looks like it's made of expensive fabric and has detailed embroidery. He has a dark colored rod or walking stick in his hand, near one end where it ends with some metal ornamentation that holds a clear ball of glass or crystal. Expensive, polished boots are visible as he walks. He is tall (but not as tall as Rain) but quite thin, with a narrow face. He seems to glide along next to the puffing nobleman. The tiefling actually looks more regal than the noble who is arguing with him.
You hear the tiefling reply in a smooth, unflustered voice, "Honestly, I was as shocked as you were to learn that it was stolen. I would never dream of getting an esteemed family like yours entangled in such business. But as I said, it's best to resolve this matter between us quietly and not expose your family to further accusations. Come, be reasonable. I'm sure that we can work out a deal after your guests leave." His voice is rather deep, and he speaks in a relaxed, unhurried way, despite the agitation of the noble. The tiefling flicks a glance at the group. It's hard to tell where his eyes are looking, but you get the sense that he took in the heavily-armored group with the king's coat-of-arms on their shields.
The tiefilng steps aside and lets the noble lead the group into his home. He follows along with the party members, falling in beside Salchar and Corric. He greets them, saying, "Greetings. I am Jorzaeramon. You aren't regular guardsmen for the king, that much is clear. You all must have an interesting story to tell! What brings you here today?"
You're a little surprised at his easy manner, given the conversation you overheard when you arrived. His etiquette is polite and correct but more familiar than formal.
"We are here for info about the goblin attack." Sand said politely.
"Ah yes, the goblins invaded my yard. They were looking for something or someone. But this is why we are here," the noble pulled out a sword and pointed toward a symbol in the middle. "The goblins obviously were too numerous, so I can't expect them to get many weapons. But why does the goblin have a sword with the king's flag engraved on it? I feel there is an inside man-"
"Sorry," the human guard interrupts, "But I think our defenses are good enough."

Rain:
Don't worry, the half-orc looks fine. Nothing seems wrong with him.
As for the human, something about his uniform seems off. I think the belt...
"Shall we go then?" The human guard asks, as if knowing Rain is suspicious of him.

Rain also ponders the clues that he has so far: the goblin attack, the man's behavior, and something about this belt. (Investigation 4)
(OOC: Ha! And he concludes, the rude man is wearing a belt, eh!)
Salchar shrugs. "Could just be rude and in a sour mood no? Times see tense afterall.." he says as he brushes Rain's concerns aside. "Perhaps we'll know more as we move forward. Keep eyes on him little one.." He gestures to Corric in a whisper.

Rain:
Yep, he appears to be a human with a belt.
Corric:
The guard is acting grumpy but appears to be in quite a good mood. He is... amused? He isn't showing his face though. And his belt looks off.
You also have a slight impression that the bump was not accidental.

The human walks up farther, thus avoiding Corric.

As the party walks, they approach a large lawn where the noble's house is. There is a coat of arms on a shield raised on a pole.

The group is now all up at the front door. "Shall we talk?" The noble asks.
