Reznic Flautas had an idyllic halfling up bringing. His parents were typical farming folk. They grew crops for both sale and to feed their small menagerie of animals. Your standard chickens, pigs, goats and cattle roamed the small pastures surrounding the small farm. Reznic found the farming lifestyle somewhat sedentary and dull. He would often entertain locals with wild tales and funny musings he had dreamt up while tending the livestock. He would often add flair to his performances by utilizing flutes and drums to create sound effects or to create a certain mood. He does NOT play music. His performances became quite the local event and people would eagerly await his weekly "shows". This support emboldened the young halfling to "take the show on the road", as one might say, and so he packed the few belongings he owned and set out for the wider world. He promised to send money back to the family. PERSONALITY:
Reznics idyllic upbringing had sheltered him somewhat from the larger cruelties in the world. It has made him a bit naive as to what level repercussions for actions can reach. This can often result in him leaping with out looking. Regardless of consequences he strives to keep his demeanor upbeat and carefree. He's happy to entertain any crazy scheme if it seems that it will provide a good tale to tell. DESIRE:
Reznic loves the spot light and his only real desire is to perform. He doesn't really think much beyond the now. He's happy to go where the road takes him.
ALIGNMENT:
Reznic is good at heart but his willingness to allow the world to dictate his direction as well as the narcissism often seen in performers make his actions a bit chaotic. Hence his alignment falls under the chaotic good characterisation. To appease his conscience he often donates to local charities or churches though he himself doesn't follow any specific deity.
Backstory: She grew up in the Underdark among the other Drow, under the parents of Cinder and Bolber Moonstone. The two of them being Underdark Butchers. She had one sibling, a younger brother under the name of Sebastian. One day, she had to take Sebastian to a friend of theirs, since their parents worked. On the way home from dropping him off, a book fell out of the bag of another Drow in the streets. She looked at it, and it was a spellbook. She wanted to give it back to the one who dropped it, but they were nowhere to be seen. She took the book home and read it. She used what was in the book to cast Identify and was instantly enamored by the art of magic! The spent the rest of her childhood studying this mysterious book she found, and when she graduated, she decided to leave the caverns of the Underdark and explore the vast world in search of more magical knowledge. When she steps out for the first time, however... she... feels... aimless. Like she has no clue what her purpose is besides gaining more knowledge. She never thought of this before, because she always was simply excited by magic, and didn't think much of the future. Realizing this and looking at the vast world in front of her, she realizes that along with gaining magical knowledge, she must figure out what she wants the rest of her life to be! When she hears of what adventuring is, she takes this path for it gives her coin, she can find magical knowledge along the way, and the travels could help her find out what she wants her life to be like.
Personality: They are optimistic, if antisocial. They try to make the best of any situation they're in. She likes to read, and sometimes has her spellbook open while listening to conversations (Still being able to take in what she hears). She has a habit of reading her spellbook when she's in bed trying to sleep. Aside from magic, she is interested in foods and how they're cooked. She barely has any hobbies besides magic.
Desire: Knowlege is the thing that she longs to peruse... but... she doesn't know what her "long term goal" is besides random knowledge... perhaps she'll find out on her adventures.
Alignment: (LG) She believes that her magic, and whatever anyone else has to offer to this world, is a part of everyone's souls and have a good purpose in this world. They know that some people are bad, but never before they're given a chance. She bases her opinion of people on their actions as people and encourages people to peruse good things. She is Lawful Good for she tries her best to obey the law and tries to as good of a person as possible.

Kenku Rogue (destined for assassin or arcane trickster)
Backstory:
"Sometimes you have to know when an item is too hot, when you just need to leave it alone." Roku remembered these words from his fence in Neverwinter. It's a shame that Mesach will be going to someplace called Revel's End with those words replaying themselves in his mind. Roku shrugs and thinks to himself "Better him than me. That would have slowed me down significantly."
Roku grew up in Neverwinter near Beggar's Nest, and he quickly became valuable as a member of a group of four that stuck together, helped each other pull themselves out of poverty, through shady means. "The Four Pillars", the meathead called them, Roku always felt that it was a dumb name, but whatever. They had many ways to throw the hounds off their trail when necessary. This time, matters were a little more… sticky, shall we say.
When they stole an artifact that was said to come from Laeral Silverhand herself, Roku knew that it was too hot of an item. It's a shame that Mesach didn't have that same realization, and now he's paying the price for that. For now, the Four are laying low, but it has given Roku time to think. "I'm not really getting anywhere with these guys. What is my end game here? We seem to be going around the same, endless cycle. No knowledge. No growth. Living hand to mouth. I need to get on with my life.”
He leaves the Four during this period of laying low, seeking out knowledge, feeling that he has graduated into something more… he leaves his “place to avoid the rain”, leaving his Cobbler and looking for “fresh vegetables” - open jobs, more interesting work that furthers his purposes.
Personality: Roku is quick to judge situations, make calculations in his head about what he is looking for, his odds of achieving that. He views the standards and norms of this world as inconveniences, minutiae and frivolity that get in the way of what is truly important. He has no patience or understanding of societal norms, customs, or “proper” behavior, he merely sees what is important for him to get what he wants and advance his knowledge, and impediments to getting there. He has an excellent memory, can recall minute details of stories that he is told, lore that he has read. He has an irrational habit of gambling with dice when the opportunity arises, he looks on his behavior later with disgust when he gets lured into a game. He has a habit of clicking his tongue or tapping his finger when he’s thinking or nervous, something that he tries to hide. He is overly sensitive when pressed about things that are important to him and can have a bit of a temper if provoked.
Desire: Roku seeks knowledge that is hidden, to know the dark secrets of the world, beyond the visible, beyond those that his senses can touch. Like all Kenku (and more than most), he wishes to gain the knowledge of flight. Not through some rudimentary flapping of his arms, but real flight, effortless flight. He feels that the Kenku have had knowledge and skill robbed from them somehow. He has searched the material plane and his environs for secrets and knowledge about this, but he feels that he cannot obtain the answers he needs in this world. He feels the Shadowfell may hold some answers that he is seeking, and he is not afraid to search the dark places that most won’t tread in order to obtain them. He has an open mind to the fey word and other planes that he is not aware of yet, anywhere that could hold the answers the the questions that he has.
Alignment: Roku’s view on the world is very transactional. He sees everything through the lens of a means to an end, and the end that is foremost in his mind is attaining flight, learning secrets, and restoring the abilities and future that he feels might have been robbed from his species. He feels that everyone is motivated similarly to him, trying to obtain what they want, whether it be enlightenment and knowledge, or gold, class or status, power, what have you. Therefore, Roku’s alignment is Neutral.
Backstory: Dalnir once served dutifully as the head of protection for his guild before retiring to a life of smithing armor and weapons for his tribes military. One night, a horde of Goblins invaded and burnt his village to the ground. He watched as the defenses he had built crumbled, and felt he had failed the city. Dalnir sent himself into exile, vowing to return a wider and stronger man, but only after he had found and slain the goblin leader responsible for his villages demise: OgMar.
Personality: Although Dalnir is fueled by rage and a desire to avenge his people, he does not let emotion cloud his judgement. When not questing he is often seen reading to learn the history of the world, or practicing his form with his Warhammer. A fiercely loyal companion, once you earn his trust he will have your back for life.
Desire: Long term the goal for Dalnir is to find inner peace. While he may think his questing is to build strength, he is truly hoping to reduce the anger he feels and find some way to feel like he is a good dwarf again
Alignment: Before the burning of his village Dalnir was a true neutral. He did not sway the scales of good and evil, but would protect his home from those who would try to sway the scale. However, once his village was attacked, his mind shifted. He felt that balance had failed him, and he was responsible for making sure that good prevailed. Now, he is a lawful good. He fights to protect others and better the lives of those around him. Although he sometimes oversteps, and forgets that others might have a different idea of better.
Backstory: Born to human traders, There was something different about him. His eyes' glowed with a silver gleam, and the mark of Baphomet could be seen on this neck. Later he developed a thin layer of scales over part of his body. Physically, he seemed to lack strength, however later as he developed and his magics skills grew,. At first a disappointment to his parents, his new abilities had made him valuable. However, he was unsettled, and wanted to find out more about where his power came from, and indeed why the mark of Baphomet on his neck, finally, in a dream, an Ancient Silver dragon appeared before him, telling him it was time to leave.
Personality: He came from a family of traders, so he is always looking to negotiate and make a deal. Garrulous and friendly, however he keeps his family history to himself and will talk around where he is from, as in the case he has trouble in his adventures it doesn't get back to his family.
Desire: His desire is to find out why. Why the mark of Baphomet. Why was he chosen, and where his power is coming from.
Alignment: Neutral. He is relatively good hearted and kind but generally practical about it.
I realize I am a little late to the party here, but this looks awesome!
(Not my art, but it is an almost perfect likeness to what I imagined)
Tristan Videris
Elven Warlock (Hexblade)
Tristan was born almost twenty thousand years ago in an ancient elven city since lost to time. His mother was a guard of the Elven Queen, his father was the (oddly human) architect who designed the royal palace. As his mother worked much of the day, he was primarily raised by his father, who taught Tristan in the more scholarly arts. When Tristan turned ten, there was an attempt on the Queen's life. The attempt did not get far, however Tristan's mother was injured in the chaos, struck in the leg with a cudgel that shattered her bones into hundreds of pieces. As she was no longer able to serve in the guard, Tristan's mother took a position in the academy where the guards were trained. Once Tristan came of age, he enrolled into the academy. He was put in his mother's class, and it was quickly apparent that he was a great student. His fighting skills were pretty average, however he was a brilliant tactician. He progressed much faster than the other students and graduated far earlier. However, on the day that he was to take his first position he fell ill. During his graduation ceremony he collapsed, falling into a coma. He was quickly stabilized, but his condition was slowly getting worse. None of the physicians in the city nor the neighboring towns could cure his ailment. Not thirty days later he was pronounced dead, and laid to rest inside of a hollow tree. Hundreds of years passed, and the once great Elven city fell to its enemies during the First Sundering. Its magnificent buildings turned to ruins, the ruins in turn to rubble, and the rubble to dust.
Four months from the present day, Tristan woke up. He felt like he had been sleeping hours, but the cobwebs and dust that had settled over him indicated otherwise. He was lying in a hollow tree deep in the forest that is now known as the High Forest. In somewhat of a daze, he wandered around until he came to a pond. Looking down at his reflection, he noticed that his body was changed. His hair, once a dark brown was now a lifeless white. He had been laid to rest in his military garments which were in good shape, and he still had the sword at his side. His skin had become paler and markings marred his forearms in the same purple as his hair, spiraling lines written in runes of a forgotten tongue. Startled, he ran from the forest, however as soon as he stepped outside he collapsed. His chest burned like someone had shoved a hot iron down his throat. He coughed, and felt wet blood splatter onto his palm. After a while the pain lessened, and he could walk again. He traveled for a long time until he reached civilization. Every so often, his lungs would seize up and he would enter a coughing fit like the first outside the forest, however they were gradually getting worse. It was clear that he needed to find a cure before it was too late...
PERSONALITY:
Tristan was always a quiet person. His mind was sharp, as was his wit, but he was awkward and aloof. His lingering confusion, unfamiliarity with the common tongue and fear for his life have only exacerbated his soft demeanor. He is easygoing and unfailingly polite but fiercely protective of those close to him and willing to lay down his life, or what is left of it, for theirs. Tristan is also a perfectionist and has a tendency to obsess over details and strive for perfection in everything he does. This makes him a meticulous planner and strategist, but also leads to frustration and disappointment if things don't go according to plan.
DESIRE:
Tristan is dying. Whatever kept him unconscious for millennia slowed his ailment, but now that he has awoken the rot inside him has once again taken hold and is slowly reducing him to a husk. While he is unsure if he even deserves to live after all his kin have passed on, the panic of his impending mortality drives him to find his salvation before death's icy grip tears him away.
ALIGNMENT: Tristan believes in the oaths that he swore as a crown guard, oaths of protection, of duty and of honor. He holds himself to a strict set of internal codes but does not believe that he can ever live up to them. He is steadfastly loyal to those he trusts but struggles with his own self loathing. Tristan Videris is Lawful Good.
Its such a shame that i just saw this thread now, but i might as well give it a shot.
Pom Kiebitz Human Warlock
Backstory: Pom's story starts good. She buildt herself up as a herbalist and a decent one at that. Though when a noble came to purchase a salve to cure his irritated skin and Pom accidentally gave the man the wrong medicine, the condition worsened. That got Pom in a decent amount of trouble, including a broken hand and a ruined shop; financially and and it really got ransacked. Though why is that relevant? Well, that is the reason that Pom opens a cupboard door with her non-dominant hand which resultet in a passageway to Sigil being activated, sucking her in. Quite the predicament. Being completly lost a kind soul (which definetly has no alterior motives) took pity on her and struck a deal with her. She does a few more or less simple tasks and in return the Dao will guide her home. What a chance!
Personality: She is generally kind, yet has a tendency to fall into a harsher tone when her plans don't end up working. She is a simple woman and doesn't need much. She enjoys comfort most when it is comfortable to achieve. Yet still, she works hard for her passion and is by no means lazy. Summarized: She works hard for herself and others when she sees a net benefit and just works if she doesn't.
Desire: She doesn't want much honestly. She really wants to get back home and rebuild her shop. All this plane-stuff is too much for her to handle, yet she must endure it to close the deal with her sponsor.
Alignment: He would definetly start as lawful good with a hint of neutrality. He is a businessman doing business afterall. But over the couse of the game, depending on the plot i could see him lean more into neutrality and away from the lawfullness. Though surely he wont become evil, unless it is the only way to get his ordinary life back.
I went with a Dao as my patreon but i am open for suggestions should something else fit the story in a certain way. The nature by which Pom made the pact as well as the location of where the deal was struck should allow for an array of possibilities.
Alright everyone, invitations have been sent out! There were so many great submissions and it was very hard for me to choose. Apologies if you didn't get picked. I wish you luck in future recruitment threads!
