The child of dedicated fighters Chester was an oddity who was more interested in mixing potions and how things worked. He was especially drawn to acids at an early age, which his adventuring parents did their best to support. He joined the Alchemist Guild and spent many happy years researching his craft, but never excelling. One day his sorcery asserted itself when a mage hand appeared and allowed him to reach a tomb from a high shelf. Now brimming with a new found sense of power and an odd sense of destiny he has gone out into the world to help others, prove himself to his guild and maybe find information on his dragon ancestry. Chester is desperate for the recognition and prestige he thinks he will gain by joining the Scholars of Allsight. He also has an overblown sense of his own skills and thinks that this would be a great opportunity to learn from a Master, despite having been only a mediocre scholar in life so far.

Reason for playing D&D
I'm really interested in the role playing aspects of D&D. I loved Raistlin Majere as a kid and I like to create characters who are as defined by their lowest abilities as they are by their highest. I'm looking to play Chester, or any other character, as authentically as possible. Therefore I will try to have him act in ways that would make sense to him, rather than what is the optimal way to win a fight based on our experience as players. I really like Critical Role and the chance to engage in a bespoke world that is partly based on the show is appealing to me.
Characters need not be submitted on the recruitment thread. I have had several PMs about the game but I will post FAQ here.
You will have starting equipment but have 3 levels of 'gold' to spend as well.
No magic items can be purchased. There is a possibility to be equipped by the Scholars.
No, you cannot already be a member of the Scholars of Allsight. If you can tell me how your immediate family was a part of the scholars but you did not know they were (they almost like secret agents with the front of being clergy of Ioun)
Include a backstory but please be willing to adapt to the campaign!

Why is your PC joining the Scholars of Allsight? Carysa is a recent convert devoted to the tenets of Bahamut. Her order took her in despite her past and the manner in which they found her - left for dead by her former colleagues on a job gone very wrong. After recuperation from her serious injuries, she started on a path of learning and reflection with the order's guidance. This order of Bahamut arranged for Carysa's first solo trial to be kicked off with a formal invitation, to visit the Scholars of Allsight and participate in their mysterious endeavors for as long as they'd have her. Carysa, eager to continue her path toward redemption, leaves for Sul Na Mara as soon as she can...

Reason for playing D&D: I've only recently (year and a half ago) come back to D&D after a VERY long time of not playing and not following it at all. But it's fair to say I like all aspects of D&D - the role playing, the shared storytelling, the fantasy - plus I really enjoy tactical and strategic encounters/combat. I haven't done much PbP but I think it's an intriguing and different approach to the usual.
Grew up on the streets having to steal to keep alive. Was forced to work for the local mage who treated him like a lab rat practicing their spells on them.
After one of the spells went drastically wrong the building burnt down. Once Wade woke up he saw his chance to escape his prison and start his own path.
On the streets life was somehow harder, not having a regular meal and being unable to trust anyone he had to steal just to feed himself. With just the scorched clothes on his back, he dreams of a future where he can provide for himself.
Personality (And what scares the character) : - Personality: Has a need to steal whatever they see fit to survive in the tough world - Ideals: To be able to live in a world where he no longer needs to steal - Flaw: Does not trust others easily - Terrified of Magic

Why is your PC joining the Scholars of Allsight?
While searching for food on the busy streets near the market a well-dressed man strolls past with a cane in one hand, clutching a briefcase in the other. Stopping at a book stall the man is enquiring about a certain book that he is looking to purchase. During this time he places the briefcase on the ground so he can browse thoroughly. Wade sees this as a chance to strike. Slunking from the shadows Wade approaches with a stealth stride taking care to stay in the shadows and not be seen. He swipes the briefcase without detection and scurries back to the alleys where he makes his escape back to his shelter on the other side of town. Upon his arrival he has one last check to make sure that he is not followed. He places down the hard-earned loot from his day's work, starts to consume some of the food he took earlier in the day, and then starts working on the briefcase to get it open. He takes his time to open the briefcase without damaging it but cannot get into it at first. He gets out his lock pick and tinkers with the lock until *CLICK* it opens. Inside there is nothing but random documents, however, one piece of paper catches his eye, and he reads it and is amazed at what is on it. He feels like his finding this is a sign from the elders but he also thinks to himself "Will all the people here be as rich as the man in the market?" Wade smiles for the first time in what seems like forever "Could this finally be a way out of this terrible existence?"

[REDACTED] Personally I chose a path that fits my character as they would never be accepted to something like that but the story possibilities of having someone in the group that does not "fit requirements" is massive.
I was really pleased with the story i laid out for this campaign and although I am new i poured a lot into this and was really looking forward to the journey but if this is how you treat people wanting to join your game then im out.
Correct me if im wrong but this is supposed to be an activity where people come together to have fun. Its not a job application.
Look if you don't like someone's character or choices there is no need to be a dick about it. Maybe advise "thats not what im looking for" Personally I chose a path that fits my character as they would never be accepted to something like that but the story possibilities of having someone in the group that does not "fit requirements" is massive.

Trying to give everyone a chance to adapt to my set requirements which are pretty standard for entry into any campaign. You make a character to fit into a campaign that the DM integrates said character into that campaign. The point being you are trying to adapt a PC to fit. You have not which clearly you know but have also made it clear you are unwilling to adapt. This extremely confrontational and public attack because of a reasonable request is also a red flag for me. Not really sure where the hostility is coming from. Also not sure if you realize submitting a PC doesn't guarantee anyone a spot. It's not a job application in a sense of the traditional but you are trying to make a PC that fits. You've previously submitted this PC to other campaigns and you have not been selected but it's my campaign you dump on? Not cool.
Best of luck with future adventures! I will pass on your submission.
@AmazingAmazon Well done for offering to run a custom campaign. I'm a complete noob to all this and I can only imagine the amount of work that you have put into it running it. I have obviously made an unintentional mistake on my submission and unfortunately despite my best efforts it probably won't be my last. Therefore it feels like this campaign is for more experienced players than me, which is basically everyone. Good luck with your adventures.

Yes, it's your campaign but if multiple people are not hitting what you require can I advise that in the future you give advice and pointers as they are obviously not imagining the same thing you are. 15 people can read a book and every person will imagine different each place and person completely differently no matter how detailed the explanation is.
This place seems to be very unhelpful for new starters wanting to jump into a game. I think a lot of people need to remember that this is A GAME where people have FUN and are not here to criticize each other.
