One of the blink dogs draws an arrow in the soil, with its paw, towards the northwest. Then the blink dogs look to each other and vanish as they teleport away.
"Oh!", Valrieth exclaims, surprised at their sudden departure, "Thank you? I think..." She looks at the others, "I didn't expect them to leave. I hope...you don't think that I offended them, do you?" She looks around as though expecting to see the dogs somewhere nearby.
"Well we know where to go then !" exclames Lerak. He starts to walk in the arrow direction, looking for the best possible path in the forest.
Val looks at the mark on the ground and then, pointing northwest, says, "Yes! I guess...um...that's the way to Little Oak?"Before they head out, Val casts mold earth again to remove both the effect she had made and the arrow that the blink dog drew.
As the group starts the next part of their hike, Val still seems worried. She asks, "I hope that we can trust the blink dogs. They didn't seem evil to me. You don't think that they'd send us into a trap or anything like that, do you?"
"they didnt seem offended, a little frustrated perhaps, but not offended, ill be honest its a stroke of luck to have any communication at all, little as it was" ilifir says in his generally verbose manner "and i doubt they would try to trap us, they are fairly uncaring of good and evil if i recall correctly" he speaks cheerfully, his spirits, which had started to fail on the journey rising again as there is now a clear route to take

This Mug immediately shared with me a transcendental tale of an Infinite Mug that anchors the Universe and keeps it from folding in on itself. I filed this report under "illogical nonsense" and asked why its sign is in Times New Roman font, when it is basic knowledge that Arial Black is a far superior font. I wondered: How did this mug even get past the assembly line with its theistic beliefs and poor font choices?
quote from Romantically Apocalyptic byVitaly S Alexius
After traveling for another hour, the party immediately hears the sound of laughter from children at play. After pushing aside some branches you see a small group of children frolics around a leafy oak tree, their gleeful yelps carrying through the forest. Painted swings dangle from the tree’s branches. Nestled in its crown is a ramshackle treehouse.
Spotting the young displacer beast, Valrieth taps Finley's arm excitedly. "Finley," she says, "it's Star! Remember? Dirlagraun, from the Witchlight Carnival? It's her missing son! It must be!" Val doesn't want to startle them by bursting into the clearing, but she can hardly contain her excitement, holding Finley's arm with her free hand and hopping in place. She explains to Lerak and Ilifir: "The little six-legged cat's name is Star. We met his mother, and she's very worried about him. We actually have a way to return him to the carnival by using a magic mirror that we found in Bad B's home. I'd love to be able to reunite them!"
Val slings her shield over her backpack so that her hands are free. She says, "We don't want to look too scary: they're just children. Be nice, and don't draw any weapons if you don't have to. Many children have been kidnapped from the Witchlight Carnival by the hags, and I think these must be them...or at least some of them. That should hopefully make them willing to help us against Granny Nightshade."
Val just reminds everyone again, "We need to see what they know about the hag and about Loomlurch. If they can offer real help or a secret way to get into Loomlurch or something like that, even better! Just remember that we're running out of time for Finley's bargain with Bad B. If they can help us get that painting from Loomlurch, then we'd be happy to trade with them or help them in some way, but we may need to do that after we go back to Hither. Just 4 days from now, we need to be in Bad B's hut back in Downfall with the portrait she wanted." You can tell from Val's expression that she's worried that they won't make it back there in time. Her ears droop a little, and she stops hopping. She makes a furtive glance at Finley.
Val lets one of the others lead the way into the clearing. She follows at the rear, and she walks slowly over to kneel down near Star. She offers her hand, gently and says, "Star? It is you isn't it? Come here, Star."
ilifir, in direct contrast to val's ecstatic reaction, takes a step back when he sees the kitten, face going blank "you are confident he is friendly?" he asks, voice neutral "very well, i will trust you" he moves a little stiffly, and avoids eye contact with star

The displacer beast kitten does seem to respond in acknowledgement when he hears Val, but an older kid perhaps in the teens scoops up the kitten and all the kids cry out in alarm as they scamper back up to the treehouse.
The teen holding the kitten now in the treehouse yells "Stand down or face Merry Hell."
"im afraid im more of a stand up guy" he calls back, cheerful once more "i dont think i even know how to stand down, i could sit down perhaps? with some tea and biscuits preferably if you have any, in fact why dont we all sit down and have a nice conversation!"

Valrieth looks a bit startled as the teen scoops up Star and takes him away, but she doesn't move. She remembers how scary the world felt when she was a kid, and she had not been kidnapped and taken away to a hag's corrupt domain!

Val hopes that the children and any fey creatures here will appreciate Ilifir's playful tone. "Yes! Good idea, Ilifir! Let's talk," she says brightly. Val follows his suggestion, taking off her backpack and sitting down cross-legged near where Star was. She reaches into the backpack and takes out her pair of faux fairy wings from the Witchlight Carnival. They look like iridescent dragonfly wings, but they're somewhat flattened and bent now from having been crammed in Val's babkpack for the last week!
Val glances up at children in the treehouse (in a treant?) and says, "Hello! I'm Val. Who are you?"
Indeed, the teen holding the displacer beast kitten looks like the Will from the wanted poster. He relaxes a bit. All the other children take a peek from the treehouse windows.
"What brings to our little home. Do you come from Loomlurch?" Asks Will.

"What brings to our little home. Do you come from Loomlurch?" Asks Will.
"No! We do not!", Valrieth says emphatically. "My name is Val," she says, and then gesturing at Finley, "and we came to Prismeer from the Witchlight Carnival just last week!" Still sitting down, she looks up at Will and says, "I'm terribly sorry that we startled you! We actually hoped that you could help us, and a Blink Dog in the forest told us where to find you. We need your help to get into Loomlurch because we need to steal something from there."
Then Val focuses for a moment on the faux fairy-wings in her hands. Simply focusing on them, she's able to telekinetically lift them out of hand and float them through the air (i.e., casting mage hand w/o verbal or somatic components, and making the mage hand invisible). She makes the whole contraption bob up and down a little so that it looks like the wings are flapping as it floats through the air 10' away and then starts to circle Val. While she waits for Will's response, she smiles at the effect the flapping faux fairy-wings create. It looks like a giant butterfly with iridescent dragonfly wings.
Lerak approaches also "Hey, aren't you the poster boy ?". He then hold the poster they found earlier in the forest in front of him. "It seems you ran in problem with the hag. I think we could work together" he continues with a wink
"Aye we're ah long way from home and we didnae mean ta scare ye. What're ye doin' with our little friend 'ere?" Finley motions towards the kitten, although still standing a little ways back behind Val.

Valrieth smiles, glad that the children still sound happy, despite having been kidnapped by the hags.

As she finishes her explanation, Val suddenly realizes what Will said. "Wait! Did you say the other children?! What other children?", she asks, sounding startled. She looks around the area as though expecting to see more children hiding behind the trees or under the bushes.
Will let's go of Star. "Alright I am willing to hand over Star. The other children are in Loomlurch. Granny Nightshade kidnaps them from other realms. I want to see them free, but I need help" says Will.
