Progo pulls out the raiper and keeps sticking the ground in front of himself and walks up to the edge of the pit, is there anything he can see? (How deep, what at the bottom, smooth walls vs naturally made one's,...). Assuming he sees nothing, he will start walking from one edge to the other whipping his hemp rope out to see if he can find anything unseen close to the edge.
Progo slowly peaks his head over the edge to peer into the pit, he is following the east wall leading up to it. When he can see about half way across, he looks up to see what above the pit looks like (Progo is very wary of death from above!) And assuming all looks safe he will continue by lowering himself close to the floor and crawling forward until his eyes peer over the edge. Assume all still seems safe then he will stand up and try his rope tick looking for unseen footing.
You two both spot it at the same time as Progo is leaning over the edge, you feel a slight breeze coming from a crack in the wall on the East side of the wall just before the pit. You deduce that this is a Secret door…
Mara does not join the rest of the party peering over the edge and just gives a bemused sigh.
"Oh, if only there was a, somewhat of a sword! A particular type of sword that dances through the air! One which we can tie two strands of ropes to its crossguards so that we can command it to dance through the pit and command it to impale itself upon the other side that we may traverse safely!"
The sarcasm in her tone was all but obvious.
((So I just recently found out that there is a character named Mara in the Bible (I found her name from the phb honest) and her dialogue is just absolutely dripping with sarcasm. Sooo I decided to try some of that sarcasm (or is it sar-chasm because there's a hole in front of us lol) and I hope it's not too mean because there's now an easy solution to what Mara's criticizing.))
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The curious expression leaves Progo's face after Mars mentions the sword. Progo whispers to Thalron "if only we had a flying sword at this moment indeed." He stands up straight and loudly whispers back at Mara, "secret passage, no need to cross. Maybe your flying freind could scout the pit and what lies beyond while Progo opens door."
Progo starts to check the wall for traps/triggers and to determine where exactly the door is.

Talron’s gruff voice comes across more irritated than the sarcasm he intended.

You find the door fully and find that it can be easily pushed open.
Progo points out the rest the edges of the door, "Progo finds the door is not held shut, should be able to open. But Progo doesn't know how loud the door will be, or what is on the other side of it. Progo thinks we should either plan on something being on the other side of the door and spread out. Or see what we can find on other side of pit with flutter fly spy. Thoughts?"
Mara had not used her familiar at all during the spider fight, but only called for his help when Progo seemed to be stumbling, so sending the little guy all alone made her cross her arms. Spinning around to Progo, their eyes met.
"Mister Progo...I appreciate that you asked so nicely, but I owe this flutter fly spy my life!" she declared out loud.
"And the spell requires 10 pieces of gold in materials and an hour of rituals to replace," Mara added the last part quickly, before temporarily dismissing her familiar.
She sighs, walks over to him then gestures to his bag of holding.
"Let's make a wager. There are still two rocks that has Magic Mouth on it, set to scream if there's a creature within gets near (30 ft within it that is not in the party or is Mara's familiar). I throw one rock down the pit and you throw that door open, and a debt of 10 gold pieces to the one who finds a hideous creature!"
"Correct Progo if Progo wrong, but don't you, call or create the thing? So doesn't it owe its existence to you? Besides Progo doesn't like challengeless bets. Jobs, yes, bets no. And Progo definitely can out hunt a screaming rock in a hole." In an act of flustered action Progo opens the secret door, not even trying to be stealthy about it.
Thalron looks confused at this pit.

You can see it is 30 feet deep. Describe how you are looking around and Give me a Perception Check.
