Assuming the door opens into the next room, he grabs the handle and pushes the door open with his shoulder fast with the crossbow ready to shoot! Stepping into the room doing this.

Sweet. The door opens and nothing else happens. You are in another hallway just like the others. This time it’s basically a 4-way. You can go left, forward or right. If one of you were to look down the hall to the right you would be able to just make out a figure slumped against the wall about 30 feet away…

Fred says "Let's mark the door and check out this figure"

(Marks the door and approaches the figure, looking for signs of life.)

As you approach you see that it’s the desiccated corpse of what appears to be an adventurer. 

Thalron quickly surveys the area and checks to see if the body is trapped. Otherwise, he’ll loot it.

 You find his short sword which is rusty but usable. Your foot kicks a small leather bound journal. (I’m assuming you’ll pick it up and read it) You can only make out the last entry. It reads:

“…I’ve wandered this Cursed Labyrinth for what seems like weeks. Ever searching. Ever changing. My food has run out and I’m down to my last drops of water. I’ve managed to evade the wandering beasts but I have the feeling I won’t see the light of day again. I fear these cursed halls will be my tomb.”
