Gorm sticks to Alyssa's side and is ready to aid in any way possible. He happily takes the weight of Jenira from her now that they are inside and not likely to be attacked at any moments and while Alyssa tends to the one trapped by the rock Gorm looks for the closest, semi comfortable place to lay Jenira down.
"We're not shifting the rock then?" Gorm asks when it seems to be decided. He was not entirely sure he'd have been able to do so anyway.
"Amputation?" he asks in a whisper. He's never been involved with such but if it needed doing he would find a way to steel himself to the task.
"Check any shelves or containers," Gorm calls off after glancing at Jenira and having a thought. She knew magics and this was her home, if he was understanding right. It is at least possible then that they may have a potion or two hidden around the house, no? "Potions, maybe. Or at least clean cloth..." Xondario may not be able to find anything but it was worth a shot.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"No." Alyssa confirms. "Though her fight is not over." Finishing her review of the woman, she grabs what's available to tuck something under her head to make her a little more comfortable, all things considering. "Her ring is missing." The blonde says passively to Xondario. "The looters could have been those goblins, or there could still be a threat nearby." She speculates before adding. "Her husband could be nearby." She assumes they're Jenira's family.
Gorm could see Alyssa's jaw clench and unclench in gentle frustration. It was more with herself, than with the situation. Her eyes keep going from the woman, to Jenira, then glancing to his wounds before looking to her own hands. It wasn't panic on her face, but deep concentration and thought. The magic user had to make a calculated decision. Hand in a fist, Lyssa goes to punch the ground before stopping herself short. Swearing in her elven tongue, she concedes, exhaling a deep breath.
Finally, Alyssa unclenches her jaw and looks up at Gorm. "If my hypothesis is correct," She corrects her glasses despite the blood on her hands, "Our best course of action is," She glances down to Jenira. "Trust in her." A reaches over to move some hair away from Jenira's face. "If I'm correct, I recognize the celestial light in Jenira's magic." She moves to locate Jenira's deepest wounds. "If I use the last of my magic to heal her, and wake her, she may have the ability, and the reserves, to help, who we assume to be her mother." By doing this, Alyssa is giving up being able to tend to Gorm should he succumb to further wounds during this siege. She was still beating herself up for being eager to waste her magic earlier. "Alongside that, it is only right that should this be Jenira's family, she deserves to know, and be a part of the decision." Sometimes it wasn't as simple as just life and death, but quality of life.
"While I would advise an amputation, with using my reserves on Jenira, I would not have the ability be able to perform the required healing post surgery to mitigate the strain on the critical patient's system and to stem the bleeding. Thus, the burden would fall on whether Jenira could perform the task." Alyssa pauses a moment to look over Jenira with a sympathetic look. "We need to prepare Jenira for her own shock, support her to keep her calm and level headed to be able to navigate through this traumatic process as she comes too." Adjusting her posture, she positions herself between Jenira and the patient to obscure the view for now, and should instincts take over for her to lunge for her family member, Alyssa would be nearby to stop her from acting in haste such as lunging for and/or moving the body too much.
Inhaling a steady breath, Alyssa prepares to execute the mending of Jenira's wounds. Digging deep into her past, the half-elf thinks of the old elven lullaby her own mother would sing to her. Channeling this melody, she begins to hum it for Jenira, hoping that maybe she might recognize it too, and that maybe it could help calm her soul and ease her into the moment without overwhelming shock. Alyssa's palms glow softly, radiating with gentle warmth as she channels her faith to Jenira and heals her wounds.
Gorm understands the thoughts and silently agrees with Alyssa. If the choice is between the two women, Jenira and the one trapped by the boulder, then Jenira is the clear choice. She has proven herself capable of self defence and her use in a fight while this women beneath the rock is a complete unknown. Gorm follows directions and does what he can to help make both of the women comfortable but much of his concentration is not on the tasks but on staying aware of their surroundings. His eyes are constantly darting to the door and windows to ensure no more threats are lurking there, sneaking up on them.
When A is ready to help Jinira Gorm stands back and watches with awe and interest. Magic is known to his people but it is not overly common and is not something taken as routine. Gorm is fascinated to be able to be so close to it and to watch it's makings... "Kwayis... kwayis..." Gorm mutters softly.
As Xondario quickly goes in and out of the rooms to see if there are anyone else in the building he hears Grom and Alyssa talking, seemly calm so they weren't in trouble by the sounds, probably trying to figure out why they decided to come to Nightstone. As Xondario is satisfied that there was no immediate danger, he goes back to where the rest are... healing Jenira? Well he was glad to see her getting help, but if Jenira thinks the way he does, she might not be thrilled the healing magic was used on her instead of the one under the rock, since she was at least stable. Of course Xondario didn't really know how to tell that, he was just going off of what Alyssa said earlier about Jenira's condition. "No one else lurking around the rooms in the back, I didn't search for anyone hiding, Jenira will probably be best to look for hiding survivors when she back on her feet. Are we going to try and move the rock? That might be a much for us in the current situation. Once you are all set, you all look like you need a breather. I have more to look for and can move about easier alone. I will return if there is more trouble out there. But there is one I need to go look for now."Maybe start with the inn, it's a long shot the Adelle will be there but maybe there will be clues to where she can be found. "I will scout about and bit and let you know what I find. Let's hope those were the only ones we need to kill around here today.
He looks at the supposedly not dead person on the floor. "When this one is able, we will need information on what happen here."
"She dead?" Xondario asks, not coldly but in a very matter of fact tone. Not waiting for an answer, starts around the corner of the house in an attempt to see if anybody else was in the house. Hammer at the ready. He starts to go room by room, only noting if anyone is there or for locations big enough to hide in. Not investigating just a quick note to inform the others of.
Sorry for the delay, the house is otherwise empty, no friend or foe.
Where the rock came through the roof there are fragments of wood and thatch scattered around the main room. The majority of the wreckage in the house is where drawers have been turned out, chests emptied onto the floor, clothes strewn around - a search for valuables has taken place here, and none too carefully.
"You are going now? Alone?" Gorm asks with evident disbelief. "Leaving your friend here behind?"
Gorm pauses whatever he is doing to look at this giant of a man and wonders if he is one to seek shelter from the rain by jumping into a fountain. "I would advise that there is safety in numbers. That the greatest threat to this city seems to be over, the rock throwers are surely nowhere to be seen, but the scavengers remain. It may just be those two goblins and their mounts or there may be more. Stumbling upon them alone may not work out well for you... We each have a destiny to walk but we choose our own footsteps."
Jenira, you reawaken, taking in that you are now indoors. The wooden beams overhead seem familiar. Last you remembered you were by your family's yard, and the goblins...

Jenira's eyes slowly flutter open and a small groan escapes her. She slowly starts to sit up, taking in the room around her. The first thing she sees is Alyssa. blinking blearily at her she manages to croak out, "What happened?" Her eyes continue past Alyssa taking in Gorm and Xondario seemingly having a small stand off, before her eyes finally take in the figure beneath the boulder.
"Is that? -- Mom?" It is isn't a loud heart wrenching scream. like earlier. This time it is soft, part disbelief, but fully deep heart breaking pain. The kind of pain you don't know you can experience until you do. Jenira shifts over to her mother reaching for her hand. "Please be alive. I need you to be alive." She cradles her hand in her lap, looking over her mom, seeing if she can determine any sort of action.
In the middle of this panic, Jenira seemingly remembers her manners and gives a small look to Alyssa, "Thank you." She then immediately return her attention to her mother.
Medicine Check - 19 plus Guidance 1- (What is the best course of action?)
Seeing Jenira starting to come to, looking rather well dispise the blood stains on her traveling clothes, he steps over to her and gets down to one knee next to her. Thinking it best not call her lady at the moment, "Jenira, I must go now to look for my friend and too see if others out there. You need to rest a bit, and your mother needs you here." He looks up at Alyssa and Grom. "Will you stay with her and her mother until I return?" He looks back down at Jenira. "If I find anyone out there I will return them here." He stands back up, before Jenira could protest if she even would. He starts stepping towards the door. He stops next to Grom and puts a hand on his shoulder "Rest my friend, you have earned it."
"If you come back, try to do so alive," Gorm replies.
Movin gover to Jenira, close but trying not to crowd too closely, Gorm adds "I think we were afraid to do more for her until you were awakened. We assumed you were related and..." Gorm pauses and looks over to Alyssa. "And I think we both weren't sure what the best call to make was." Gorm shuffles from one foot to the other, the proud warrior uncomfortable in this kind of situation where strength and violence were all but useless.
"I could try to shift the rock but then..." He just lies the but float out there unsaid...
Alyssa waits for everyone to process their thoughts and settle. After a few moments, she takes a breath to gather her words, fixes her glasses and speak for herself. “No, I made a calculated decision.” She corrects. A wasn’t afraid to do anything and felt defensive that there was doubt in this room for her choice. It was best to be this way. She was not wrong.
Alyssa looks to Jenira. “Yes, she’s alive.” She says in a gentler tone. “I stabilized her.” She confirms. “Yes, I could have instructed the boys to assist me with moving the rock, performing the procedure and using my last reserves to provide the healing your mother would need to survive it. However, I would not have the ability to fully restore her quality of life.” Lyssa gestures to her crushed legs to set the scene for her decision.
The individual under the rock is a middle aged woman, mid-50s, with long, warm brown hair. The rock has crushed both her legs, and she looks pale and still. However you can hear the faintest of faint breaths. Against all odds she is still alive, though you suspect your Spare The Dying came in the knick of time. With that Medicine check you realise that removing the rock may cause more damage than leaving her there unless some magical healing is applied immediately afterwards, and that even if she survives she would require very high levels of magical healing to ever hope of walking again, a Regenerate spell at the very least.
With that Investigation roll I will also say that when checking her pulse, which is very weak, you notice a pale band of skin around one finger where a ring must have been until very recently.
Continuing, Alyssa would speak calmly and softly to explain her reasoning, and the situation to Jenira. “With the belief that you may have additional magic reserves than I; that you would be more assistance to us conscious than unconscious (and more ‘useful’ in danger than a recovering amputee); and more importantly, if this was your mother, it was plain to me that the logical choice was to use the last reserves of my magic to mend your wounds to participate in these next steps. You deserved to be a part of a decision that would involve your mother’s quality of life.” She didn’t care what Xondario decided to do. A had Gorm at her side, and this situation stabilized. If he’d keep leaving Jenira, she’d make a point to stay, and not because he keeps telling her too.
Gorm blinks at Alyssa’s tone and confidence, then smiles. He had not quite expected it from the girl he had met on the road what seemed ages ago but was only just earlier today. She had seemed eager and earnest but… young. She seemed more than just confident now but also capable in a way he hadn’t expected from the inquisitive girl. No, she was not a girl to be dismissed or protected, she was a woman to be taken seriously, he decided. Good…
“Yes. I was the hesitant one,” Gorm says, turning to Jenira. “With a sword I’m quite decisive. This kind of dilemma though… Yes, Alyssa stepped up where I faltered, to be sure.”
Jenira's eyes widen at Alyssa's words and you can see the beginnings of panic setting in before she gives a little shake of her head and her entire posture changes. Her shoulder's pull back and her spine straightens, as much as it can from her seated position, and she locks eyes with Alyssa, "You made the right choice. While I don't believe I have enough skill to fix her legs completely," her voice breaks a here, but she continues on, "I can keep her alive. And I would always prefer to be present and part of the choice, then not."
She bends her head down to give a small kiss to her mother's temple whispering, "I will find a way to fix your legs, you won't have to live like this forever, I promise." With that, she gently places her head down on the ground and scoots over to her mother's legs. She readies herself for immediate action. "You - You can remove the rock now. I will heal her."I hope.
As Xondario steps away from Grom and heads towards the door, he hears a strange confident tone from Alyssa in their exchange with Jenira. Good, she's not as timid and meek as her first impression implied. He peaks out the door to make sure no new creatures have wandered into view. Alright, I'm coming Adelle, I will find you. As he moves to step out the door he hears Janira talk about moving the rock. He sighs, just give me one more moment Adelle. He sets his hammer down by the door. "I will help with the rock before I go" and he turns back and walks back to the rock. "How do you want to do this?"
Gorm will take his time and study the problem if the rock and the legs. It could be as simple as shifting it a foot and having the mother pulled quickly out from underneath or it could take an actual moving of the rock which could be tricky - Wouldn't want it to roll and do more damage to the house or a load bearing wall or anything. Likliest solution would likely be to use on of the sturdier pieces of timber available as a lever and position it carefully so that the shifting of the stone doesn't send it moving in unexpected ways.
"Alyssa? Could you look at this a minute?" Gorm would inquire and get her opinion of his plan and for where best to position the level. The plan was to move it as little as possible, just enough to free the woman so she can be carefully but quickly moved, before easing the rock back to it's original position. Once the plan was set and explained to everyone Gorm would have Alyssa give the "go" once both the brutes and the medics were ready. Once the word is given Gorm nods to Xondario and they both put their backs into shifting the rock enough... And hopefully Alyssa can pull the woman free and Jenira start the healing once she is....
Medicine Check - 6 plus Guidance 3- (What is the best course of action?)
(Sorry, I'm away for the week, I'm not able to respond much at the moment.)
More than 5, so you're not completely at a loss, but less than 10, so right now it feels like the best thing to do is to follow Alyssa's advice rather than try to come up with your own plan. She seems to know what she's talking about, and even with the aid of Guidance your medical knowledge isn't quite coming to mind. Perhaps it's the shock of seeing your mother like this. One thing you do think is - how long has she been like this? Short enough a time that she hasn't.... Well, you know. Long enough to look very weak and pale, and show no signs of waking despite the conversation around her, and the touch of your hands and your mouth as you kiss her.
Xondario or Gorm, as I assume you are working together to lift the rock I'll need an Athletics check from one of you with advantage. I don't mind who makes the roll.
“You’re not alone in this, Jenira.” Alyssa places a gentle hand on her shoulder. “I believe in you, and your love for your mother. Trust in your magic, and in your love. Channel that energy into your healing.” She encourages before taking a position to assist in the procedure. “It’ll be okay.” Lyssa would provide assistance as needed, and guidance on the fly. Silently to herself, she’d vow to help within her means to assist with a future solution to improve the quality of life for an amputee. Whether that’s to research and learn more about the regeneration technique herself, to find someone with it, and/or to find a skilled tinkerer to adapt her mobility, A would find a way.
(Don’t know if it’s possible to provide help/advantage to a healing roll for better chance at higher healing, but that’s a hope/goal if somehow possible.)
"No." Alyssa confirms. "Though her fight is not over." Inhaling a steady breath, Alyssa prepares to execute the mending of Jenira's wounds.

Kelytha Meliamne - Matti Silverstorm - Silver - Star-Setting-In-The-East - Tor Baltos
Xondario or Gorm, as I assume you are working together to lift the rock I'll need an Athletics check from one of you with advantage. I don't mind who makes the roll.

Xondario came back to assist so Grom can have the roll. (Same modifier for either of them)
