Hi, I am a long time Player who wants to get a feel for DM'ing! To do this I am going to run a Lost Mine of Phandelver campaign for new players! If you just got here and are wondering how to get started playing, you can join this campaign! It will be played in this thread and we will use standard array to make characters (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). The races you can use are Dwarf, Elf, Halfling, and Human and the classes are Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Cleric, and Paladin. We will only be using the free content on Dndbeyond because I don't have access to anything else. If you are a new player and this sounds interesting to you, put a link to your character in a reply to this discussion and I will choose 4-5 people to play with! Here is the opening to see if you want to play:
In the city of Neverwinter, a dwarf named Gundren Rockseeker asked you to bring a wagonload of provisions to the rough-and-tumble settlement of Phandalin, a couple of days’ travel southeast of the city. Gundren was clearly excited and more than a little secretive about his reasons for the trip, saying only that he and his brothers had found “something big,” and that he’d pay you ten gold pieces each for escorting his supplies safely to Barthen’s Provisions, a trading post in Phandalin. He then set out ahead of you on horse, along with a warrior escort named Sildar Hallwinter, claiming he needed to arrive early to “take care of business.”
You’ve spent the last few days following the High Road south from Neverwinter, and you’ve just recently veered east along the Triboar Trail. You’ve encountered no trouble so far, but this territory can be dangerous. Bandits and outlaws have been known to lurk along the trail.
Born 20 years ago in a large city, she was raised on the streets and quickly got the knack to make stuff disappear. An apple here, a bun there... She was in one place but if a shopkeeper was not fast enough, she was gone and so was part of his merchandise. Tirranna has joined a few gang like groups of young kids and always idolized the life of a criminal. In her mind sneaky thief was a hero who robbed the rich and gave to the pour, but life showed her how far from the real life the tales are.
One afternoon, when she was to steal and escape a precious necklace, things got ugly. She had guards all over her and needed to loose then fast. She saw very similar girl, bumped into her and put the necklace in her pocket. Then she has disappeared in the crowd. The guards got the innocent girl instead of her... The view of this girl, being dragged by the city guards, has changed her. from now on she was working mostly on her own and took a disguise of a bard who wondered from one town to the other...

Im a new player and interested in trying this out. Question: can we choose any race or class that is in the basic rules or is it mandatory to play as the ones you have listed?
Narra Duun is a longtime member of a local brute squad, operating out of the emerging Chasm District in Neverwinter. As new residences and businesses emerge atop the scarred landscape of the chasm, lawlessness has run rampant in the district. In fact, for years Lord Neverember has kept the district closed off from the rest of the city, leaving the daring denizens of the cast-off district to fend for themselves. However, as the years have passed, order has mostly been restored, due mostly to local organizations banding together and forming militias and watches to keep the peace. Narra’s experience within the brute squads and militias of Neverwinter has landed her a reputation amongst the locals within the Chasm district as an able warrior, trustworthy in the thick of battle, and loyal to a fault. And while her experience in battle is limited to the odd security job here and there, such as clearing the local graveyard of harassing spirits, or helping dispense justice to bands of thieves and brigands in the forests around the city, there remains a longing within her to leave Neverwinter and experience more of the world, making her way as a sellsword.
Description: Born and raised in a typical Woof Elf forest village, Elrodin was just a child when his family, fleeing the wrath of a passing Dragon and destruction of their home, left him in the care of a priest of Selûne, the Goddess of the Moon. Here, deeply hidden from most of the outside world, Elrodin trained in the spiritual ways of the temple that became his home for many years. Though seemingly content, the Priests felt that a young Wood Elf needed to venture out into the world rather than be cloistered in the temple's libraries all his life, and decide to pack Elrodin off towards Neverwinter and character-building adventures...

Not new-new, but fairly new to PbP, and haven't played D&D in a while, would be a great game to get back into things!
Hopefully this guy's followed the rules :) : Elrodin Moonshadow (Wood Elf Life Cleric)

New to DnDBeyond, experienced player and DM.
Hello, I would like to play. I'm brand new to Beyond (this is day 1), so I'm not sure how though.
I've played a very little in person d&d, including DMing some homebrew content. I have the gist of playing.
Here's my character;
