It’s been a hundred years since it arrived. A floating island of brass and gears appeared, like some sort of construct of incomprehensible design. It floats above the sprawling city of Dia — the largest settlement in the nation of Ocrad. Originally, the city folk were terrified at the island’s sudden appearance and its hourly racket. Yet their fear diminished when the island did nothing; it simply floated above. Some people traveled up to the island either with wings or magic, but they all returned to the ground minutes later. As to why they returned to solid ground so fast, they would only mutter about law and order.
The people of Dia came to accept this brass island as another part of life, and eventually named it the Brass Isle.
Dia is the largest city anyone everywhere knows of. It is a titan of industry. Anything can be found there, whether it be work, education, or crime, anything goes. Creatures of all sorts are found there. The city is run by its most powerful guilds, The Guild of Mages, The Guild of Thieves, and The Guild of Merchants. Keyword is ‘water’, include it in your message. These guilds have significant influence over all businesses, so all shops need give a give a fourth of their profits to the Merchants, all criminals need to cut a portion for the Thieves, and all spellcasters need to pay a third of their earnings to the Mages. Dia — and the entire nation is controlled by these guilds, having an iron grip on every marketplace and village.
You however do not start off in Dia. Your mercenary business begins in the small town of Ascot, a dying village led by an old elven mayor who has lived longer than Ascot has existed. You managed to scrape up your savings with a couple of like minded acquaintances to buy a stand in front of the tavern with the goal of becoming a band of mercenaries. With luck, you’ll find work and perhaps in time, your mercenary business will be known across the whole nation.
Hello! I’m looking for five players for a mercenary team. It’ll be a rags to riches sort of story with an overarching story. You are expected to post at a minimum of once per day.
