(In case it wasn't clear, now that things are synched back up, assume Dev has paused in conversing with the captain to watch the spar. Though if he sees any major spells get cast he starts giving disapproving dad looks)

The two warriors begin sparring to immediately realize it was bad idea. Instead of the graceful sword play the party witnessed when the two sparred in the grass lands, they are treated to the blurry sight of two pointy-eared women flailing around because the combination of fog, wet wood and the rocking of the ship makes doing literally anything difficult. Amidst the slipping on wet floor and the arm-flailing, Gendan manages to accidentally his Elsara in the head with the blunt side of her sword. Normally it would hurt a bit but she wasn't even aiming to hit her. She was in the process of falling down and was swinging around in an attempt to balance herself when Elsara kinda fell in to the blades flight-path. Gendan won the sparring match because of this and as if to commemorate the victory, she face-plants on the ground followed immediately by Elsara joining her on the floor. Nobody was hurt.
Devarus covered his mouth, but there just was no hiding the growing look of both disappointment and shame in the man's eyes throughout the display. They were all being paid an exorbitant amount of coin... and this is the display two of its members put up? Too fearful in the moment to look and gauge the good captain's reaction to spar, Devarus avoids the man's gaze and took one of his calming breathes on his way over to the two.
"While normally I am inclined to just let things be. Perhaps you two wish to join me in the mornings for drills going forward. At least until you have gotten your sea legs."He states more than suggests, and offers them both a hand up.

While Gendan flies up the captain walks over to the edge of the ship and says, "We have a man on the water. Pull him up." His crew pulls a man who was floating across the sea on a piece of driftwood. After bringing him aboard, the man is sent to receive medical attention in the infirmary.
"Owowowow...." Elsara sits up, rubbing her forehead. "Maybe a ship deck in a storm wasn't a good idea."Her shadow blade has vanished, as that knock to her head broke her concentration.
Upon hearing the call about a man overboard, Elsara will go to help how she can, even if it is just simply drying the man's clothing upon being brought back up. (She is proficient in medicine if the ship's doctor wants a spare pair of hands to help in any way.)
Elsara goes to help. The doctor, who is, unsurprisingly, a combat oriented plague doctor gives her tasks to do. Roll DC10 Medicine. No real hazard. If you succeed, the doctor is impressed with your work. If you fail, the doctor thinks of you as incompetent and is annoyed at your presence.
The plague doctor is quite impressed. He comments, "You seem quite adept at medicine." The man was wounded. He first gave you simple tasks like bringing a small trinket or two. Once he notices your competence, he starts giving you more important tasks like keeping the man's vitals up or applying special potions (These potions are such that only Plague doctors can use them) under his instructions while he does other things. After a few hours of this, he cleans his bloody gloves with a combination of a cloth that had been soaking in a jar of transparent liquid and castings of prestidigitation. He hands you another cloth from the same jar and comments on a job well done. There is a strong smell of alcohol coming from the cloth.
"Thanks, I've been trying to keep up with modern medicine." Elsara replies. She notes that she has a copy of the prior edition of a plague doctor's manual from Dr. Elyza Blackthorne, wondering whether she could compare notes once the man is stable and just resting. She cleans herself off, using Prestidigitation alongside the use of the alcohol cloth to try and prevent any potential diseases. "Umm... So where did you learn your practice?" She asks, trying not to pry too much, as the last plague doctor she tried to make friends with wasn't too fond of her usual forward approach.
The man takes a good look at the book and says, "Ah yes. I believe that this edition is very comprehensive on its description of diseases. No completely new diseases have been discovered though some diseases have changed. I think for a qua- someone without formal training, the book should be good enough as the newer editions deal with newer treatment methods and medicine. Those topics aren't something someone can understand without formal training."
He adds, "As for myself, I had undergone training in the Plague Doctor's institute in the city of Merilette (A place on Rurik Main).
"I did a lot of my reading in Drynia, at the libraries there." Elsara responds. "I didn't really get the 'formal education' of lots of learned folk, but I still got to keep plenty of book smarts from my own studies." Elsara is happy to prattle on and discuss different things, perhaps ask about anything in the older edition book that should be avoided, perhaps the medicine application has been debunked and isn't useful and the like.
As for outdated practices, the Plague Doctor mentions a select few practices that, though still proven to work, are either less effective or more painful than the current practices. He also notes some modern practices which her far more painful than the previous treatment methods but are also much more effective. The more he talks, you realize that treatment for deadlier diseases are downright horrifying, some involving the use of special potions and magic to chop of entire limbs from the patient and then regrow new ones as replacements. This is why many commoners fear plague doctors and go to clerics instead. Even though clerics are unable to heal all the nastier diseases.
Gendan sprouts some demon wings and makes her way to the crow’s nest to brood despite her “victory.”
Although Devarus looked about ready to yell up after Gendan for the snub, he winds up just sighing and shaking his head. "Another time then." He mutters before returning to his watch schedule, or start to at least. Hearing of the man overboard, he joined in any gawking until things led below deck. At which point he looked to see if either Runt or Val would stay top deck to keep watch along with Gendan before following after.
He stops short of entering the room, meaning to stay out of the way. However, he kept close and watchful for the go ahead to question nearly drowned man. The only time he does step away is to question the captain about any recognizing the man as one of their own, and the direction he floated in from if not.

The captain responds, "I've never seen this man before. He's definitely not part of the Cosmer Coast Guard. We're out in sea so I have no idea how he got here."
Runt stays top deck, though not to patrol. She tries one more time to meditate, her mind being incredibly clear right now, to commune with the deity that chose her and the reason for that choosing.

“Here we go!” Gendan is glad to have her sparring partner back. The days at sea have grown quite boring.

my Athletics has the wrong modifier. Should be +7 not +5, but still will make for a hilarious duel.
