...K, slightly updated then (guess I had my char setup settings wrong):
Name: Ilwythe Race/Subrace: Half-Orc/- Class/Subclass: Barbarian/(future) Path of the Totem Warrior Physical appearance: A tall green and silver skinned Half-Orc with yellow eyes Personality, character, ideals: I have a perfectionist mindset, settling for nothing less. I strive to improve myself and the world around me.
Backstory: Ilwythe was once an esteemed member of the Orcish clan of Gruumsh-Talrey, rich in both praise and coin. But there was one thing different about him: he secretly despised Gruumsh. He thought his slaughter needless. So, he turned to another god: Ilmater, the LG god of perseverance, martyrdom, and endurance. But when his clan found out, he was banished. The only things he managed to save from his home were his sword and shield, along with his mule and cart. But by going back, he paid a price: one of the Gruumish priests cursed him to forever wander, never able to settle down. He learned about the nature of his curse in a horrid accident three years ago, losing his only possessions to an orc raid (of, unknown to him, Gruumsh-Talrey, who didn’t realize who he was either). He’s had to work from the ground up, but even now has only a single gold piece to his name, along with a single hope: the Amulet of Ilmater, rumored to be around here, may be able to banish his curse.
I took starting equipment, my background gave me 15 gp, of which I spent 10 on a shield, and I made 4 vanish for character reasons.
Additionally, my character makes his meager living off street music and fighting bouts.
... As far as the sibling thing goes, perfectly fine with that.. I think it will be Gaer who will disappear for two reasons: 1) he's already uncomfortable with Dobbian; and 2) I have been poring over the players handbook the last couple hours and I honestly CANNOT find another subclass that really fits this character's backstory except to make him another Life domain cleric and then what's the point of having him in the group at all if he just duplicates his sister's portfolio? I definitely want them both healers, and the only other basic ruleset subclass that even comes close to a healer portfolio is paladin (and eve3n there most of the really healing-focused subclasses are from other sources). ...
Totally fine with Elturel as a hometown so long as it's plausible for two tieflings to have lived there and for one to have openly been a member of the City Watch
OK, so Gaer disappears.
Depending on how much healing you want, you might consider druid, bard or ranger also... their spell lists include cure wounds, at least. Anyway, whatever you decide is fine.
Ok, deal, so Elturel it is. Tiefling mighr be prone to meet mistrust, usually, but I can't see why one of them should not have had the chance to prove himself as member of the City Watch - a person with less prejudice than others could well have offered a tiefling a chance (even more so if in need of more members).
I see we already have a bard and a druid application, so might as well make him a ranger. I wonder if the lifechanging event in their lives somehow involved getting lost in the wilderness? ... And perhaps he's more focused on healing beasts and monsters, while she concentrates on taking care of the humanoids ...
Anyway, I'm working on my final RP description and the physical/personality/etc. today in between writing for my own PbP thread on here (which I'd be more than happy to share the link, only IDK whether that's considered rude to do in another DM's thread ... PM me if you want me to). Should have everything up by the end of the weekend.

Great! Have a nice fantasy weekend then!
Sharing a recruiting thread for your campaign you mean? I'm also not sure if it's considered rude to do it in another DM's thread or not... Honestly, I've never seen it done before - maybe because it might seem off topic.

NAME: Tarysaa Arı RACE: High Elf (Moon Elf in Forbidden Realms) CLASS: Wizard
Male? Female? Who can tell with some of these elves. I mean... Pale skin with blueish tinge. SIlver White hair. Near black eyes.
Taken in and trained in Silvermoon. Moving up the ranks from 'orphan inductee' to student and apprentice. Now sent forth to experience the wider world while looking for lore and forgotten magics, Tarysaa has been traveling the roads of the realm. After another long day of walking the ways, the road weary figure sees a sign at the edge of a small town.
"Urgently needed adventurers for a very important quest. Rich reward for success. Please, you'll definitely earn a lot more working for me, than scampering around hypothetical hidden magical treasures left behind by the Harpells - or if you're really determined to look for them, you can always do it later; I, on the contrary, need you now. It's a matter of life or death. Ask for me, Martha Sharnshield, at Sharnshield Manor, north Longsaddle."
In the lower part of the sign, next to the signature of this 'Martha Sharnshield', a coat of arms is painted which consists of two crossed swords with a horizontal bar underneath. From the excellent condition of the sign and the text written on it, the sign must have been planted (and created) recently.
With a deep sigh, the figure moves forward with an eye toward finding a place to rest; perhaps finding new magics; or just a chance to soak their feet in a nearby stream.

I shared one out in the group PM for a campaign that I'm playing in. I'll let you both know if I get any complaints.
Region: SIlverymoon, Luruar ( aka the Silver Marches )
The Conclave of Silverymoon (also known as the University of Silverymoon) taught all manners and "schools" of magic and knowledge related to magic. Individual colleges within the university system focused on particular specialties. It was a great university of magic and a center of learning and wisdom in the city of Silverymoon, created by Alustriel Silverhand as one of her last acts as High Mage.
The university did not have a single location in the city, but its individual institutions were found on both sides of the River Rauvin. However, several of the schools were clustered together in a Southbank campus, where fourteen buildings were originally set aside for university use. These buildings included the original locations of the Lady's College and Miresk's School of Thaoumaturgy.
Note... naming was pretty lazy back then. The city of Silverymoon. Conclave of. University of. Land of... I suppose I should be glad they didn't just name it all DIRT. *eyeroll*
Personality, character, ideals: High Elves... what can you say? They tend to look down their noses at the other races, though some are almost tolerable.
Tarysaa has been among many species in Silverymoon, however, they can be a bit of a 'stick up their backside' attitude at times. This long slow 'walkabout' has brought blisters and ?blessings? into their wider world view. ?Blessings? being... they are not in a protected, secure university / academic environment anymore and the WORLD is letting them know in no uncertain terms how 'small' their worldview has been. *shrugs* Live and Learn? Learn and LIVE... more like it. *wistfully recalls the first 'off road' hunt for dinner...*
ahem.. anyway, since the 'walkabout' took them close to Mithral Hall and Menzoberranzan, time in those spots were MOST educational. The temptation was to stay and spend months (if not longer) looking at their libraries and exchanging concepts with their mages, however, Tarysaa HAD been tasked with 'exploring further afield'. At Mithril Hall, the gossip was of some old dwarven lord being buried somewhere near, if not IN, the Neverwinter Wood. Later, while passing through Triboar, tavern gossip told of claims of magic relics strewn about the lands around Longsaddle. Perhaps there is something to all these 'old tavern tales'?
WAIT... sorry. I get sidetracked in minutia at times (most times) and the lure of knowledge (and magics!) is near irresistable.
Ideals? Knowledge, of course! The path to power and self-improvement is through knowledge. The more I can learn and grow -- as a wizard and a person, the better.

That actually seems like a better solution, that way instead of poaching potential players from another DMs recruiting or campaign thread I'd be sharing with fellow players they'd already signed on; but please do let me know if you get any. In the spirit of which, why don'T I stop cluttering the thread up with this and get on with posting my finalized character LOL
Name: Quspira Inirali Race/Subrace: Tiefling Class/Subclass: Cleric / Life domain (Angharrad) Physical appearance: A short, compact tiefling woman with night-black hair and piercing purple eyes whose catlike pupils grow lighter and hotter in the center when she is angry, in a circular area in the center corresponding to a human pupil. As the daughter of a marraige between Asmodean and variant tieflings, her skin is mottled with subtle swirling patterns of intertwining red and deep blue. Both she and her brother have inherited the smaller curling ram's horns of their variant father, which can fit under a deep hood but will always leave bulges in the material that give away their nature on closer observation (within 10' or so) Personality: A dynamic blend of the intense, the optimistic and the slightly jaded, Quspira is eternally hoping the world will come around and just be decent and not hurt people anymore. Since she prefers to not suffocate to death, though, she's not holding her breath; and the creeping whispers in her soul from her infernal heritage are a fully sufficient reminder to always be vigilant against evil, within and without Character: Yes. She is a bit of a one, isn't she ;)
Ideals: Everyone deserves a chance. I nearly turned my little brother in once because I forgot that. I won't make that mistake again ... unless you hurt someone and especially him. There is a limit to my patience. Bonds: I will never allow my little brother to be hurt. My deep compassion for others springs from that infinite well Flaws: I will never allow my little brother to be hurt. All the rest of my compassion springs from that well, and if I had to choose who to save it would be him. Not you. I dread ever being forced to make that final terrible choice. I wake at night in a cold sweat sometimes from nightmares of having no choice but to choose.
NPC:
Name: Gaerquinor Inirali Race/Subrace: Tiefling Class/Subclass: Ranger / Beastnaster Physical appearance: Tall and slender where his sister is concentrated, Gaer shares her swirled red and blue skin and her eyes. However, his hair is light where hers is dark, a mingling of blonde and fiery red hairs that bleaches pure bone white with the sun every year by the first tenday of Flamerule. Personality: The yin to his sister's yang, Gaerquinor is quiet and observant. His time in Berdusk's well-concealed underworld has left him acutely aware of the necessity of keeping your own counsel and keeping your ears open and guard up; his time wandering the wilds and roads of the Realms with his sister mellowed that into something a little less hard edged, a preference to let the world around him do the talking and go on about his own quiet business of making things right while they're busy doing it. Although he does miss that silver-chased shot glass with the lascivious tiefling lady wrapped around the base, and the lovely rich Berduskan wine that used to fill it ... At such times, a whispering, serpent-bearded face seems to flicker before his vision a moment, until he sweeps it away back into the shadowy cobwebbed corner in every tiefling's soul Character: Yup. You guessed it. He's a bit of a one too LOL ideals: My sister is a noble, selfless, giving, kind person now. Perhaps a little too much so. I need to watch her back. But she's right ... the world is far too full of brokenness and pain, and we each have our own role in mending that. ======================================================================= Purchases: Starting equipment gave 'spira 10gp and Gaer 15. I have used this to purchase four items for each of them. First, since I consider it absolutely stupid that you wouldn't start out with a set of the artisan's tools you have a proficiency in since otherwise you wouldn't have had anything to practice with to learn the proficiency, I've bought Gaer a set of cook's utensils and 'spira a set of leatherworker's tools (1 gp; 5 gp). Second, since I'd think the first purchase of someone after buying ammunition (in the basic purchases) would be to get something to hold it in, I've gotten each a quiver / bolt case (- .1gp each) . And the other two purchases, quarterstaff and handaxe, make sense to me as just something any traveler would want to have with them for utility purposes as well as combat. In 'spira's case I just gave it to her straight, but I'd already decided Gaer would dual-wield two handaxes, or wield one and keep one ready in case he needs to throw the first. So the sidearm I gave him is a net. Finally, ever since I realized I'd taken my character out without any damn thing to carry the loot in LOL, I've always been a bit obsessive about buying two pouches for my characters in the introductory scenes, so I've added those for 1 gp each, leaving Spira with 2gp8sp and Gaer with 8gp8sp.
For a bit of flavor though, and since I don't think Gaer would have picked up quite the stereotypical / classic ranger flavor, I'd like to swap out his longbow for a slingshot that does bludgeoning damage but because of the mechanical amplification of the bands does longbow-level damage rather than sling level. Essentially it would be just a reskinned longbow, and I could either leave the longbow in the character sheet and just describe it as a slingshot, or create a custom item with the character builder tools. ======================================================= Backstory: Quspira Inirali was once not the wandering mender of broken things she is now. She was once a brave and loyal member of the Watch in Berdusk, always doing her best to raise her town's reputation for true piety and honesty and burn away the unjust accusation of falsity in these things; always dreaming of someday joining the Hellriders or even ... who knows ... some glorious day, she might even be invited to swear the Creed Resolute and protect Elturgard itself as one of the Companions!
And always, her hooligan younger brother Gaerqinor was her biggest headache and internal conflict. As he grew older and progressed from cockatrice-egging the local merchant's windows on Walpurgisnacht to charming his way into the confidence of traveling paladins, getting them drunk and stealing their pegasi, her heart grew more and more torn between the baby brother tiefling she remembered dandling in her arms when he fussed, and the apparently conscienceless rogue he was on his way to becoming and exactly what would happen to him if she turned him in as he deserved.
Eventually something happened that neither will talk about now, but he reformed and she realized she could no longer remain even inflexible enough in her heart to do her job in good conscience, even in the case of others; her compassion for her brother had slowly been opening her eyes to the unreasonable strictness of their town's laws, and it all culminated one fraught and muddled night about which, as I have said, neither will speak.
Now they travel the roads of the Realms as wandering healers and protectors, she a Life domain cleric and he a Beastmaster ranger; both hoping someday to find their home town again, or rather what they wish their hometown had been, a place where they could live in peace and not have to chase down such of their patients as are terrified of tieflings before they can start to heal and protect them.
RP Hook (#4): They can't remember how long they've been traveling, or where they've been, but their feet have been drawn steadily towards the North. Towards the area around Neverwinter, the lands that seem ever to be torn apart by a new plague or demon or lich or dragon or war of the gods perhaps every eight or nine tendays or so. The lands most in need of them ... and where Gaer, who still hasn't QUITE given up his tastes for fine living or his ... mmm... FLEXIBILITY about assuming that of COURSE these kind people would want a hard working woodwarden and healer to have SOMETHING nice in his life ... and they're so busy, he really hates to bother them ... (and often gets a sisterly elbow in the ribs about this point in the conversation ... )
One patient, though. One memory that stands out on the road. A waifish boy ... Dobbins, did he say his name was? Dobrian? Something like that ... Anyway, he'd stumbled into their camp just off the with a badly infected wound in his foot eight or nine months ago. They'd taken him in, fed and tended him until he was able to travel again. But there was something in his eyes they would remember, and never be sure why they remembered. And they really wanted to find him again. To settle the bet. Because they never could agree what exactly they saw in his eyes, and it was almost the source of their first really serious fight since the reform. And finally they resolved that someday ... who knows where ... they would make sure to look him up and find out who was right, and what he actually did wind up becoming. And every now and then, they will look at each other across the campfire, and each will say just one thing, and leave it there until the next time, or until they find him.
'spira: "But I saw such POTENTIAL in his eyes! I still say that boy will go far."
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<o>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Gaer: "That boy's trouble. Always was, always will be."
Recently, they heard rumours of a waifish boy with piercing green eyes who had wandered into Longsaddle and just never quite left. About this, they have agreed to disagree. To 'spira, they are paying a visit. To Gaer, they are enduring an infliction for the sake of looking into a town where everything SEEMS to be going wonderfully ,,, but where his instincts, trained to spot birds in a wood who are but deeper shadows against the gloaming, are picking up that something is very wrong indeed. And he would like his favorite bronze hand mirror back, and he's pretty sure the brat's got it.
Now they sit looking at each other over the fire as the shades of night creep in, a day's journey out from Longsaddle. They slowly gaze all the way around the darkening horizon. They've heard things about the area around Longsaddle; who hasn't? And on the subject in general of the way the town is run; and the concentration of mages and treasure seekers and practical jokers and all the rustle and bustle of ordinary living; and the likely eventual consequences of all these things coming together in one town for so long stationary in such a cosmic danger magnet as Toril, they are entirely agreed.
Both: "Trouble."
But tonight, so close to the town, 'spira continued beyond that point for the first time openly.
Spira: "And whether he is potential or trouble, that boy has been in the heart of trouble for months. And since we did care for him once, I think we at least have an obligation to make sure all the trouble we've taken over him doesn't go for naught."
Gaer looked at her and pursed his lips inwards, as he had done since their earliest childhood together when he thought she had a point. But all he said was,
Gaer: "Perhaps."
....................................................... Next morning, he was gone. There was only a note, neatly rolled up and tucked in the narrow mouth of his drinking flask, the one luxury he had left from the old days, the one thing besides her that he would never leave behind willingly and always left when he wanted to reassure her he'd be back.
"Gone to check on something. Worried. Meet tonight at this 'Gilded Horseslipper' ... or whatever it's called, sounds exactly like the kind of place that Dobrin would hang around in trying to ...", the letters trailed off as if he'd suddenly thought better of the sentence and then was just too damn stubborn to cross it out and start again.
She sighed, shook her head with a resigned half-smile, and started in on doing all the myriad thousands of little tasks necessary to strike camp that he'd just left her stuck with. Again.
The "Gilded Horseshoe" inn is the smallest in Longsaddle, but the Snulgers family, who run it, make guests feel right at home. The owner, Erah Snulgers, is a woman in her fifties, quite plump, though that doesn't stop her from bustling about energetically to keep the inn going. Her short blond curls are becoming sparse, but usually others notice rather her light blue eyes that stare with sincere interest at the interlocutor and the open smile with which she tries to make everyone feel welcome. She, as usual, tries to talk with strangers and new customers like you and after chatting a while and getting the impression you might be an adventurer she confides: "You know, friend? There's a good girl who really needs you... and will even be happy to pay you, if you can help her! Or at least maybe you can give her a word of comfort...You don't already know Shoeless Martha, do you? Her full name would be Martha Sharnshield, but we all call her that, here, after an event that occurred when she was thirteen..."
Spira looked at the woman with a sympathetic smile. "I can imagine a couple of possibilities, but if any of them were true I'd imagine she would prefer a stranger not bring it up. I'm afraid I've never had the pleasure of making her acquaintance, but she does sound like a good person, so .."
"However," she sighs "she needs help - she's hiring adventurers urgently - and as her family, the Sharnshields, are one of the most powerful families in all of Longsaddle, there's little doubt she's able to pay! I... I would pay her a visit, if I were you. Right away. Given all the trouble she's giving herself - despite her condition - it must really be both an important and an urgent matter".."
She nodded. "I quite understand. We're all women here, after all, we know what men can be like sometimes. I'd be more than happy to look her up and see what we can do, and I'm sure my brother will say the same when I meet him here tonight."
Oh, forgot ... Gaer might like some ability scores too LOL

Great!
To be fully honest, every now and then you kept referring to Gaer as a monk (even speaking of ki, once), but, hey, you just did a big four-long-posts work and we already agreed he was a ranger, so all fine be me; I'm not asking you to review and correct.
Also ok for the slingshot; you can keep it as a longbow and we both know what it really is - or if you prefer to prepare and add a cudtom item, go for it.
"I quite understand. We're all women here, after all, we know what men can be like sometimes." Lol!
And now just let's hope poor Spira will be able to find Gaer again!

Ooops! LOL Bit of a editing slip there, forgot to clean that up when I pasted. Should be fairly simple so don't mind going back and correcting. I also found a way to customize the longbow listing itself, though not to "officially" change the damage type so the online tools on this site are aware of it. Instead, I just changed the name and added a note explaining that the damage type was changed. As far as my thinking on this goes, I would imagine an ordinary slingshot to have range and damage similar to a SHORTbow, but the story hook is that Gaer has been able to customize his by using the sinews of some rare type of creature he hunted and a particularly tough wood of the Realms to make a power slingshot with the range and damage of a longbow. If you want to limit it a bit, I would see a logical case to be made that at that level of power he requires larger STONES as ammunition to get the full effect, and if he tries to use sling bullet it drops the statistics back down to shortbow level again

Your customization is ok, I do not wish to complicate matters too much, let's assume it works like a longbow, thanks to Gaer's ingenuity - maybe I owe him something, since I'm putting him in trouble... 😉

All well, just remember next time: if you edit your post without quoting the rolls, you have a high chance (practically 100%) that the dice roller would roll them again and give you the "This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results" warning.
Once you roll them, quote them to preserve them, then go on and edit what you have to edit (or keep the rolls in a separate post - most of the times, even in game, that's what I end up doing).

Name: Nimblestep Thimblestein
Race: Light foot halfling
Class: Bard
Appearence:
43 years old
3ft
45 pounds
Light skin
Dark brown eyes
Fair brown hair with finely waxed moustache and soul patch
Backstory: I am the youngest child of a rich Nobel halfling family called the Thimblesteins that made their money from the distribution of the arts.
My parents Harvard and Marigold died of a passing plague when I was barely out of adulthood at 25 at which point the business was passed on to my older brother Brusco who had a great love of business, trading and education. While growing up and eventually assisting Brusco in the running of the family trade he taught me a lot about bargaining, logistics and also shared his love of knowledge for intellectual pursuits such as science, history, language, poetry and more.
My older sister Belladonna was the real earner of the family as she was the most talented musician and Bard for hundreds of miles around and drew in nobles and large crowds from all around and often was requested by royalty and rich families to perform at parties and events, through our close bond she taught me all she knew of music and trained me well but I could never hold a candle to her talent.
After almost 20 years of us successfully running the business and Bella bringing great fame to the Thimblestein name, a terrible incident happened. A notorious gang of thieves managed to get ahold of some information on how to infiltrate one our well guarded warehouses of goods containing multitudes of exotic musical instruments and attempted to rob us.
The dastardly villains started their heist at the same time that my sister Bella was browsing the inventory to find an instrument that would inspire her next musical venture. Bella being both Stubborn and brave stood up to the thieves rather than fleeing and they attacked her, permanently damaging both her throat and hands and then made off with the majority of our fortune.
After the incident many long time customers both feared selling and buying goods with us and even worse Bella has never been able to play or perform since. I attempted to replace Bella as the family bard but as good a musician as I am it seems tastes have changed and my attempt at writing songs hasn’t gone down so well as it seems ballads about the lavish life of a trader isn’t as popular as I suspected.
As our funds steadily began to decline and business got worse I decided I would set out on an adventure, both to find exotic goods and treasures to send back home for Roscoe to trade in and to gain experiences of the world and stories I can weave into tales of wonder to provide support and money for my siblings so we can all get back to a life of luxury and comfort.
ya know, if SOMEONE knew a spell (cantrip) like Magic Stone, your slingshot could do even more damage. :p
Good point, but I don't know if it would effectively do more damage, in the end...
From what we decided, the original damage should be the one of a Longbow, so 1d8 + attacker's dex modifier, not a bad damage already.
The Magic Stone would allow the stone to do instead 1d6 + spellcaster's ability modifier (the damage would substitute the normal one, not be added to it).
Thus, using the spell would only lead to more damage if the caster's skill modifier exceeded the attacker's dexterity modifier by 2.
I'm afraid you would hardly get a big improvement for the slingshot - it could perhaps be more useful for empowering another character, one without slingshot (and without powerful ranged weapons), allowing them to attack effectively from a distance.

Great! Let's really hope to find that Amulet...
Famh Thrawn Fiadhaich - 'half elven' sorcerer (wild magic) 2, Sleeping Gods - A Dragon Warriors campaign in the Lands of Legend
Quspira Inirali - tiefling cleric (Life domain) 4, Painted's "He'll be the father of my child"
Antar al'Barmeqi - goblin warlock (The Genie: Marid) 1, THE MOON OF THORNS
Sae Ivui Nailo - wood elf rogue (inquisitive) 5 - Sea of Death: Captain Hailstorm's Lost Treasure
Theris Dionte, shadar-kai rogue 1, Born of Stormmount
Great! Have a nice fantasy weekend then!
Sharing a recruiting thread for your campaign you mean? I'm also not sure if it's considered rude to do it in another DM's thread or not... Honestly, I've never seen it done before - maybe because it might seem off topic.

Silvermoon? gaaah... stupid quill. SILVERYMOON.
*eyeroll*
oops.... forgot this bit --
Personality, character, ideals: High Elves... what can you say?

<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<o>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
But tonight, so close to the town, 'spira continued beyond that point for the first time openly.
Gaer looked at her and pursed his lips inwards, as he had done since their earliest childhood together when he thought she had a point. But all he said was,
.......................................................
Again.
Spira looked at the woman with a sympathetic smile. "I can imagine a couple of possibilities, but if any of them were true I'd imagine she would prefer a stranger not bring it up. I'm afraid I've never had the pleasure of making her acquaintance, but she does sound like a good person, so .."
She nodded. "I quite understand. We're all women here, after all, we know what men can be like sometimes. I'd be more than happy to look her up and see what we can do, and I'm sure my brother will say the same when I meet him here tonight."

Ability scores: 13 7 10 12 11 15
Name: Nimblestep Thimblestein
Race: Light foot halfling
Class: Bard
Appearence:
Yes, Ma'am.
I messed up on that one.
As for the rest, is everything okay?
ya know, if SOMEONE knew a spell (cantrip) like Magic Stone, your slingshot could do even more damage. :p
Yes! Thank you again for your interest in my campaign, the application is perfectly valid 😀
