With the night completed, Akkron is going to ask the Commander and Reggie to chat with the Defenders so they don't start wondering what's going on yet. He'll tell both that he doesn't want his existence revealed just yet because he suspects that some of the Defenders may not react well.
After that, Akkron is going to start scouting out the woods to figure out where the dragon's lair is with his brand new Amathyst Dragon mount.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
You are all gathered for dinner and sit at a long table beside other guards and soldiers. The far table has seats for all the Defenders, with three empty chairs. It seems they are still waiting for others to report back their findings.
Conversation is anxious and uneventful. Several soldiers are excited to see what happens next. After mealtime, the Defenders retire and the Solders are able to roam about the common spaces in the Library. An adept calls for "lights out", making his rounds at 10:00pm. Back in the bunk, Reggie talks of the promotion to inquisitor, as it's a fast career advancement for him and his family.
Day 8: Dawn
Breakfast is prepared and set in the feasthall from the night before. This time the Defender's table is full and the Rogue, Monk, and Sorcerer, who were missing last night have arrived.
The Arch Wizard Kane addresses the Inquisitors, at the end of the meal. Please report to your squad leaders, we have sending stones for each of you to report your findings daily. You all have marching orders and each of you have individual assignments.
When you report into your squad leader, he pairs you with Reggie to travel out to Kingdom's Rim, to Old Big Tree, and you are given supplies, a stipend of 30 gp, a horse and a mule each. The trip will take six days without additional stops except for simple campsites and will take 8 days if you stop short, on your journey, to sleep in towns.
Defenders Day 8: evening Arch Wizard Kane asks Juno to report on the sending stones they sent out to sixteen different Inquisitors.
Juno remarks snidely, "Only a few sendings have been received. I think you could have picked a better lot for the promotion."
Arch Wizard Kane, "Everything is well within mission tolerance. We want to keep a close eye on those particular soldiers and we don't want to spread the spell weave too thin."
Juno rebuts, "When you talk arcana, sometimes I think you don't really know what you are talking about, you're just making it all up."
Defenders Day 9-13 Juno reports, "All teams have reached their destinations, One report from the Far Outpost indicates that there is a troupe of Orcs, planning an assault."
Arch Wizard Kane, "It's too soon for the Orcs to attack. In my mission scenarios, they won't attack until the end of the season."
Defenders Day 14-16 Juno reports, "Several teams have gone silent. We sent instructions to return back to Diamond city and only two of the eight teams have confirmed." Arch Wizard Kane, "Curious, something has disrupted the mission timeline." Defenders 17 Juno reports, "Reports are coming in that there was a major battle with one hundred Orc and minimal casualties. A purple dragon joined the ranks of Vesper. Everything is happening at the Far Outpost."
Arch Wizard Kane, "Then tomorrow, we Teleport there to see for ourselves."
Oh... it looks like Akkron just remembered his daughter's murder... that is going to be a big gut punch, even for a man who no longer has any guts...
And it looks like the Defenders are going to teleport into the Far Outpost in the morning (Day 18: Dawn).
Let me know if you need to prepare or plan or if you want to make suggestions on how this might go. I'll write more about it tonight or late this evening.
Yeah, noticed that as well... but Lord Akkron isn't aware of that in-universe. This could either be an opportunity to either win the Defenders over or... if necessary... take them all out at once. Lord Akkron would hope that it doesn't come to that, but I do have a plan if it does

Defenders, Day 18: Dawn Arch Wizard Kane enters a small stone room without windows and only one door. An arcane circle is sculpted into the stonework on the floor. A single wooden shelf, storing jars filled with dirt, and labels hastily naming the contents.
Inside the chamber, all the other Defenders wait patiently, decked out in magic armor and equipment, everyone is ready for what's to come.
Kane grabs a jar, from the wall and reads the label. "That's too bad, I haven't filled this jar with dirt from the Far Outpost, in over a year. Looks like we have to risk a spell mishap."
The Sorcerer speaks up and states, "I've only casually been to Far Outpost, Two or three times, just helping with supply runs..."
Kane interrupts enthusiastically, "That's great. Why don't I take the Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Monk, Paladin, Ranger and Rogue. And you can take the Bard and Warlock. If you run into problems, the Bard can also cast Teleport."
Everyone agrees, some begrudgingly. The first group, steps on the sigil, Kane begins casting the Teleport spell for a Very Familiar location, since his dirt collection has expired. Everyone disappears with a pop, pop, popping, and the smell of ozone and static electricity is all that's left. The Sorcerer and his smaller band enter the circle and casts Teleport.

...at this rate they might disintegrate themselves before they even get here.
As the day dawns, Akkron awakens from his nightly trance with new memories. Memories that weigh heavy on his heart. A bright-eyed girl... his little girl... mercilessly murdered. He doesn't quite know why, but he has a feeling he knows who. This must be why he burned with rage against the Drow... He wanted to go out and face the dragon as soon as the sun crested the horizon, but now, he isn't sure has the mental fortitude to do so...
Defenders, Day 18: Just after dawn The Arch Wizard and group teleport safely in front of the Far Outpost. A few seconds later, the Bard, Sorcerer, and Warlock teleport in, extremely bloodied and looking beat up.
The High Priest Thayon, rushes quickly to their side to cast Mass Cure Wounds from a 7th level slot and then from a 6th level slot for 21 plus 21 healing for all three bloodied Defenders. Thanks are given, all around, and everyone gets composed and walks into the Outpost and heads directly towards the Tavernhall.
You are all together now. Feel free to start the conversation, I'm going to bed, I have a doctor's apt in the AM, so maybe by noon I'll RP the other half of this encounter.
Akkron sighs as he sees the arrival of the Paragons... probably should have expected it, but it is what it is.
"Welcome," he says a bit shakily, trying simultaneously to forget the horrific memory that his subconscious dredged up the previous night while also clinging tightly to it. "I was under the impression you had more important matters to attend to than helping the far outpost fend off foes far beyond them, but I suppose that it's good to see you here nonetheless. There's something in the woods that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible, but I am sure that with your aid it can be overcome."
(Akkron has requested that only the Commander, a lieutenant, and Reggie be in the room with him while speaking to the Paragons... he has a plan formulated in case things turn ugly, and he doesn't want anyone to get caught in the crossfire if a fight does take place. However, he does want to have witnesses so that no one assumes that he murdered the Paragons in cold blood if he is forced to kill them).

"Ahh, one of our Inquisitors have come to be the mouthpiece of this outpost. How odd and quite intriguing. What do you know of a purple dragon or an Orc invasion. I see no wounded and also nothing is burned or damaged. What manner of patron has aided you in this victory? How can you be sure of its benevolence?"
With all of the Defenders on alert, the tension is high as they all wait with anticipation for the response.
"Well, for starters, when you're backed into a corner sometimes the wisest thing to do is accept whatever help is offered," Akkron replies. "But if you wish to speak to the dragon, his name is Roxo and he's outside. Now, as for the orcs... yes, this outpost was attacked by a very large number of orcs not long ago, along with two hill giants. The orcs were pushed back through a combination of terror at the presence of a dragon and some truly incredible spell craft... and... as I'm sure you're about to ask whose spell work is being referred to..."
He pauses for a moment.
"I will be honest, it was mine."
(Akkron has made sure that there's a table between him and the Defenders, just in case one of them tries to murder him immediately, and he also cast mage armor as soon as he realized they were coming).

Juno the Warlock interrupts, "Don't trust the scorpion, just because we have similar needs. We should put him to a test. A task. A Feat, to prove his loyalty to the Circle. Those damn Orcs will be back, and they will never stop coming. If only we could push them further north, maybe relocate them far away." Under her breath she says hurriedly, "Or kill 'em all. Splendor looks up and speaks, "But it's not just the Orcs, Goblins, and Giants that threaten our peace. There are the five Dragon Lords who breed sub-humans to worship them. If we are serious about a test, then why not send him to the top of the mountains, to Death's Peak, where nearby is the White Dragon's Lair. Bring me back the dead carcass of the White Wyrm, so we will have proof that you are capable, trustworthy, and loyal to our cause."
With Spelndor's words, spoken like a faithful paladin, echoing in their ears, all of the Defenders nod in agreement.
Kane concludes, "Yes, that shall be the task of proof. Your feat, if you so shall accept this, is to bring us the dead body of the White Dragon Lord." And speaking just to Thayon, under his breath, "Oh the potions I could make with dragon scales. Oh and the heart, I know some magic items I could make with a dragon heart. And don't forget the brain, oh this will be a bountiful reward, if only he can deliver."
"I told you when we first met that I was a wizard," Akkron points out to Juno. "Your hostility when I spoke to you is the reason that I didn't come forward to the Circle at once."
He lets that linger in the air for a moment, then nods.
"A white dragon you say? Very well, I shall slay the beast as requested, then bring back its remains. It's good that you arrived when you did, I was about to go into this battle without knowing what sort of dragon I faced."
Akkron takes a moment to consider his next move. Then he proceeds to misty step outside to his waiting dragon.
"Roxo, we have a job to do. Let's do our task quickly, the longer we take the more dangerous things will become."
