The commander, transformed into a Silver Dragon, speaks to his Lieutenants, in common, "Move now, we take the initiative. I am the surprise attack. Move the troops to the treeline and wait for my signal."
With that, he flies up high and disappears into the sky.
All the troops move now, in small squads, and in large groups. The tension is high and there is an excited hush as they march forward. 50 minutes of marching and the troops stop, just short of the Darkwoods. There is no sign of the commander and they can see dark figures darting around, behind the trees.
Suddenly, there is an enormous roar and screams coming from within the woods. The first Orc emerges, with a bewilder look on its face. A series of bolts fell the singular Orc before dozens more come rushing into the open.
The Lieutenants signal the charge and a skirmish begins. more than sixty [monster[Orcs[/monster] clash with Solders in a huge melee, for a few moments before a band of twenty [monster[Orog[/monster] emerge leading two [monster[Hill Giant[/monster]s.
Cries from the woods continue as blast of cold push the Orog fully out of the Darkwoods, when suddenly the Commander in young silver dragon form, presses through, bloodied and screeching.
Commander the Young Silver Dragon (95/168), Multiattack against one of the Hill Giants, Young Silver Dragon, Bite, Attack: 30 Damage: 30 Young Silver Dragon, Claw, Attack: 14 Damage: 13 Young Silver Dragon, Claw, Attack: 11 Damage: 11
The Hill Giant (54/105), Multiattack against the Young Silver Dragon, Hill Giant, Greatclub, Attack: 12 Damage: 22 Hill Giant, Greatclub, Attack: 12 Damage: 21
In this battle royal, roll initiative and let me know where you want to enter or observe.

(How much time is there between transfiguring the commander and starting the fight? If it's only been 10-15 minutes or so then Akkron will simply drop concentration and let the Commander remain a dragon for the hour-long duration to do other things... such as cast illusory dragon. If it's been an hour or more then Akkron simply held concentration on the true polymorph for the entire hour, same if it's near the end of the duration)
Initiative: 19
Akkron will stand back a bit for the time being since he does have solid spells that can be fired off at a good range.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
...if he isn't in the right situation to drop concentration on true polymorph, the first thing Akkron will do is get to a good spot to cast fireball into the midst of a large group of orcs to clear them out, while trying to avoid casualties to our side.

You can have it either way, the fight is only 50 minutes from casting true polymorph. Please indicate how close or far form the closest Orc with an axe you want to be, to avoid miscommunication about the map. If you want to fly, let me know, and I'll hand wave some or most of the map. The Hill Giants can throw rocks but the rest have no ranged attacks.
Because you rolled so high, we will only have two initiative rounds, Your round and everyone else.
Here is how the battle field changed after only a few rounds of combat
I think Akkron will go ahead and drop the concentration on true polymorph to do something else...
He's going to start around the bottom of the map... but close enough to act directly (S 24 seems good), and the first thing he'll do is cast illusory dragon to summon a massive illusion of a silver dragon.
Every one of the enemies on the map need to roll a DC 19 Wis save or be frightened of the illusion. The dragon's breath weapon will deal cold damage (since the commander, as a young silver dragon, is immune to cold damage)
Only two Orogs are not frightened, And five Orcs are not frightened
The battle goes crazy as the soldiers chase the frightened Orc and Orog and the seven remaining orcs kill seven soldiers, on average, each round until they are also defeated by you and the dragon.
* We can continue round combat * Hand wave that you lose some troops but win the battle swiftly without spending additional spells * Fast forward to the next morning where you are the hero and you now have a small army of followers * Something else, sandboxy
I think we can handwave that we lose a few troops but win the day. In spite of the fact that we're losing some men, Akkron knows that unleashing AoE effects into the middle of the battle would just cause more casualties. That being said, he peppers the orcs/orogs with cantrips to hasten the conclusion of the fight. Once the fight is finished, he will go ahead and have a chat with the commander.

As the last Orc falls from spell, spear, and dragon claw, the commander morphs back into himself. Battered, bloodied, and bruised, he calls his Luetenants to gather around, as the battlefield erupts in chanting and cheering.
"Huzzah! Huzzah! Huzzah!"
The chanting continues for several minutes as the possessions of the dead orcs are looted and the injured are tended.
The commander, followed by his Lieutenants approach you and say, "Oh great and powerful Sorcerer! We are all in your debt. This fight may not seem like much, but it marks a pivotal win from the forces of Vesper. You have earned our respect and a great debt. Let us rest up and then return to the Feast hall to rejoice in the success of battle."
You sense an evil still lurking in the woods. An invisible sinister threat. Insight DC 15, Perception DC 16
After resting up and heading back, you and the others march back in a leisurely two hours. Singing songs and cheering, all the way back.
That night, several instruments come out and the ale kegs are tapped and much merriment is had, until the early hours of dawn.
Day 15: Dawn,
You wake, it's another day. The entire outpost of 60+ strong Soldiers, all freshly leveled up to level 2, have 100 loyalty points toward you and will try to convince others of your benevolence.

Memory roll for the night's Long Rest: 8
In the morning, Akkron goes to speak with the commander.
"Sir, though our victory yesterday was nearly flawless, I feel that there is something else out there... something evil and powerful that must be faced before this land is truly safe. But I need a favor from you and your men... as you may have noticed, I find dragons to be invaluable as allies, and I wish to bring forth another one which will become my steed for as long as it takes me to find and eradicate this looming force of darkness. Don't worry, I am not about to ask you or one of your men to become a dragon. All I need is for you to help me restrain the creature once I have conjured it into being so that I have the time to perform the spell that will bind it to my service."

Actually... I would like to change what Akkron says to the commander, but I don't want to mess up the dice rolls on the post.
"Sir, though our victory yesterday was nearly flawless, I feel that there is something else out there... something evil and powerful that must be faced before this land is truly safe. I think that I will head out into the wild lands tomorrow morning in order to do what must be done, but I wish to bring some talented trackers and warriors with me; for all my skill in sorcery, I am not such a fool as to believe that I am invincible or that I cannot be caught by surprise. I would like a party of five men to join me on this task, and we will set out first light tomorrow."
(Never mind, guess we're sticking with the original plan)

They facilitate your summoning and conjuring, with boards, stables, harnesses, and men with ropes. They clear part of the stables out from animals, so that you can work your incantations safely and with help.
Is there a chance that they might have access to a Bard or Cleric who can cast bane and another spellcaster who can cast either silvery barbs or bestow curse in order to make sure that the geas sticks?

(Or one spellcaster who can cast both, for that matter, as bane and silvery barbs are both available to Bards... even better if they have a level 2 Divination wizard around who rolled a 1 on one of his/her Portent dice)
