Normont would definitely keep up to date with the trial, offering whatever services he could provide towards further investigation. He will also send a letter to the Pale Lord of Wardship in Whitestone detailing the theft of the soil and its intended purpose. He will obviously include the details of how they stopped the plot, listing their names after asking each of them if that is ok.
The majority of his time in the weeks that follow will be spent working on his inventions, although he will make time to get together with the others as often as possible.
The original remuneration was 50gp, of which I believe we each already had 20gp (or was that extra?), so 230gp remains (assuming we can trade in the gems). Normont will help make sure Theron's family gets his original 50gp payment (I think he has the first 20gp, so the remaining 30gp as well), if we can find them. If not he suggests they go towards his funeral and then given to charity.
(OOC: Do we want to rp anything in the intervening weeks? Happy to do so if folk want. Also @DM, assuming we haven't got enough money to buy anything fancy and magical?)

Jasper takes it upon himself to represent the companions as witness during Sandras trial freeing others to be as involved or not as they please, the trial is fairly swift though it is local only in breadth as the Galador estate has emptied with only the workers remaining and none of them know enough of the plots to do anything but repeat Jaspers testimony. Sandra therefore takes the full weight of her families activities upon herself, though she insists til the close of trial that she did not kill Conroy the evidence is accepted as overwhelming that she did so, along with the murder of her brother. With the Ocici family removed from the records there are no findings against them and Sandra claims to have no further knowledge of the assassination plots she had previously spoken of. She is remanded into the Iron Stocks in Westruun there to spend the next 25 years in a mage-cell.
( Normont receives a letter of provisional commendation and a small pouch of black powder along with instructions to continue following up on any residuum evidence. There is also a somewhat cryptic note regarding the grave dirt stating that Lord De Rolo is extremely interested in where the Galadors information on its use came from.)
Dev plucks up his courage and auditions for and is hired to play a small part in a festival play produced by the Sunrise Lodge in Drynna. When the director hears the tiefling singing to himself, the director writes Dev’s song into the play. It’s a show-stopper, but the theater lanterns catch the drapery on fire, the play is canceled, Dev is blamed for the incident, and he earns nothing. But while the play was in production, he learned how to use makeup.
Meanwhile, the Hornd family’s old burned-down store on the old pier on the old lake had been fenced off and locked. Dev, experimenting with his parents' bait-and-tackle implements, succeeds in picking the lock. 'Handy,' he thinks, and keeps the little kit close by. Now he goes inside sometimes, to sit, think, and compose music.
Dev, with his unexpected bounty of earnings, brings home two new sets of clothing for each of his parents and for himself, and pays for the re-thatching of the roof of their disheveled shack on the water, and for regular, healthy meals for the three of them. He purchases a new costume, and a fine old box lined with satin, and when he goes to the town square to perform, dressed in shining second-hand fabrics and with the second-hand satin box open in front of him with a few gold pieces glued inside to grease the wheels of generosity, the townsfolk might offer more than a copper or two.
Perhaps one of his new friends gives him enough confidence for the following: Dev takes the electrum piece from the Ocicis into town, and calling in their favor, asks for an appointment to audition for Asoto and Sata. “I can sing songs. When they have guests at their estate. If they will give me a chance.”
Indeed though nothing is spoken openly there is a seeming mild change in attitude to Dev by at least some of the townsfolk, he picks up silver and the occasional gold for his performances now and the Ocici family contract him to play at some of their less formal functions, recommending him to others so that he also has gigs at the Pericans and Pollock estates as well.
( Add an extra 20 gp to Devs purse to be collected each time he has downtime in Drynna.)
Magnus would also follow the trail and be at the courthouse when the trial is going on. He will make daily notes during the trial and make a record of his and his companions involvement in the as well. On his own he would seek out a cleric and see what it would take to have a cleric cast speak with the dead on Conroy to see if Sandra's allegations that she did not kill Conroy is accurate or not. Depending on the expense of that he woudl either pay for it himself or get the Cobalt Soul to pay for it, since the background of these crimes deal with Whitestone and the undead, especially with the history there.
Other than that he would go about his daily duties and meeting with his companions when available for dinner and drinks. Hearing about the performances Dev would be involved with Magnus would attend in support of his friend.

Magnus is lucky enough to find an elderly priest of the Wildmother who remembers the young gravedigger with fondness and is willing to aid in Magnus' endevours. Alas it seems Conroy was initially stabbed from behind and never saw who killed him. ( Feel free to detail other questions Magnus may have asked.)
Magnus finally receives an answer to his many missives simply saying that his work is acceptable and his reports are somewhat sparse and should perhaps go into further detail. He also receives a purse of 50 gold ' to aid in your record keeping'. Some weeks later he receives a missive with the seal of the Cobalt Soul indicating that he should come urgently to Sweetwater Meadery on the Rootgarden Way and dress for travel and with whatever assistance he believes he will require.
I think though she might take a bit of the time roaming further out beyond the town, trying to explore the more wild areas. Reconnecting with nature more. Perhaps even sleeping outdoors on a couple occaisons - preferably bright moonlit nights. Definately she'd revisit that hollow tree she'd hidden in. Perhaps just getting to know the lay of the land her like she'd had at home. (Though obviously with way more years to have learned at home!)
The wandering would also have lent itself to developing her druidic abilities - especially Wild Shape (and Wild Companion). Starting mostly summoning hawks or snowy owls, familiar from her home. As she transformed herself, she'd find secluded places to change - not quite knowing how to magically incorporate clothing. Though she eventually got the hang of that too. Probably starting with things like a fox, wolf, or cat. But she'd practice many forms over time, perhaps liking the dire wolf most. However she found the giant spider interesting for its climbing ability and blindsight. (And a normal spider just for its tiny size.)
This taking on animal shapes she probably kept to herself. Except maybe surprising Dev once by showing up as a cat.
The only other thing is if in her wanderings she might look to find ingredients for healing potions. If she can find those she would use her Herbalism Kit proficiency to make some Potions of Healing.
After some trial and error Lokilia is able to concoct three potions of Minor Healing. Her experimants with shapeshifting are very successful though she does learn perhaps some more respect for predators and their territory after almost becoming a meal for both a lone female direwolf nursing cubs and a much faster than she expected vermillion and emerald giant tree spider.
In her wanderings through the woods she sees quite a few goblins travelling south, only in ones and twos and with many looking more than a little worse for wear they avoid her as soon as they become aware of her and don't engage in conversation fleeing as soon as they are able....
She also discovers sometimes deep in the woods small wickerwork figures daubed in dried blood and with bones and teeth inside them.
Quinn will join in on supporting and getting to know Dev, and after the fighting, he realizes how his lack of strength caused people to die. He will push himself harder than he has ever worked, finally finding a purpose for his pilgrimage. He might even journey back to his home village to learn under the great defender. It was there that he learned how to connect to the magic around him to embolden his strength and form. It was growling but he is now an even tougher stone and a greater fighter. While he was home he learned about a weapon of great power that has the souls of his people's greatest warriors locked away in it and is now lost. He vowed to find this blade and protect his new friends on the way. When he comes back to town he will look for his new friends.
Quinn wants to get to know the others but his quest is driving him, he starts out for Terrah driving himself through day and night and taking only 15 days to complete what would normally be 20 days travel, keeping to the main traderoads until Kraghammer he is able to avoid any unpleasant interactions.
Dryden the senior sentinel of Terrah puts Quinn through his paces but the surly half-orc expresses some misgivings that he would venture back home so early in his discovery of himself....she then transforms into an bear and body-slams him into the mountain. On the second day she speaks of Quinns future and that one day he may join the ranks of the Stoneguard and protect Terrah as they did millenia ago. She tells him on the third day that he must leave and resume his quest but that he must speak to The Heart of the Mountain first.
Pa'tice, The Heart of the Mountain, tells him of an ancient evil that slumbers beneath Terrah and of a blade that was once wielded by an ancient leader of the Cult of the Dark Heart. He believes the Cult will rise again soon and he wants the blade found so they cannot use it to awaken the Behemoth as they attempted once before.
Quinn travels back to Drynna arriving 17 days later with sore feet and a pack containing a pouch of Oolore Tea and a Potion of Climbing.
( We come to the end of downtime, you are all gathered once more at The Red Trout sharing a meal and catching up on news of your individual activities. Feel free to chat amongst yourselves.)
"Yea, you all should have heard Dev singing! He's just amazing and he wrote the song!" Lokilia is telling the group as she enjoys a nice fruit-flavored drink. She looks over at Dev, causing a slight breeze to pick up to ruffle through his hair. "Hope that doesn't embarrass you there Dev. It was just really great. Oh, and Dev had nothing to do with the fire! I'm certain of it. Those lanterns were just not put in the right spots."
She listens a bit, glad to be with her companions. "A shame Jasper is busy with the watch again. I've been meaning to talk to him about the goblins I've been seeing. Always heading south through the forests. But only one or two at a time. They never would talk to me though, just running off."
"I'm sorry I couldn't be there to hear you sing, Dev. Or to check on those lanterns. I have been rather busy for the last few weeks", Normont replies as he holds a large mug of cider in both his small hands.
"But my efforts were not without reward", he says smiling as he puts down the mug and reaches into his pack. He takes out and places on the table a tiny mechanical dragon, very shiny looking and new. He snaps his fingers and it suddenly springs into life, it's little wings beating and raising it into the air. It does a quick loop around the room and lands back on the table, where it sits down and regards everyone.
"I call her Amber", he says proudly. "I was hoping to show Jasper too. Such a shame he is busy you are right".
"Now, about those goblins. It does seem odd behaviour".
Dev is embarrassed by all of the attention, and his first impulse is to slump deeply into his chair and flip up his hood. But he manages to respond graciously, though grimacing slightly too. Yet when Normont demonstrates Amber, the tiefling shouts, his voice charged like lightning, “You made that?? How??” and an awestruck smile splits his face like sunshine.
At a different moment, Dev has been observing Quinn, who he’s sure left town because he, Dev, had said or done something on the day he watched Quinn practicing his swordplay, that made him, Quinn, want to get away. The young bard says to the dragonborn, hoping to sound bland and not despondent, “You were gone a long time…”
“I like to roam, and I need to reconnect with my home village after seeing everything we did.” He says in response to dev. Noticing the Dev looks uneasy, Quinn gives him a warm but slight smile. “Dev truly is a great performer.” He adds. “As for concerning observations, I was told by our village leader that a great evil will arise, a cult led by an old evil. The is a sacred blade that we must get before this Cult of Darkness gets it and raises their leader. Maybe the Goblin are connected to this cult business.” Quinn has an obvious worried look as he searches the rest of the party to see what they think.
The older dwarven woman with the great mane of black and silver hair and a dark grey apron, who they all knew now as Amita, approached and set down the next course, " Will that handsome human lad be joining you today?"
"Go to Dev, let him pet you if he wishes", Normont says in Gnomish and motions for Amber to go and sit before Dev, which the homunculus obediently does. It' s metal claws tip tapping on the table as it walks, it's wings folded now against it's body.
"That my boy, is a very good question. The answer to that is years of practice, and a sizeable pouch of gems", he replies to Dev with a chuckle.
When Amita asks about who he presumes is Jasper, he gives a solemn shake of his head, "Not today I'm afraid"
He waits for Amita to move away before he joins the conversation regarding the cult of darkness and an ancient evil.
"Nuts and bolts, Quinn. That really doesn't sound good. When you say, we must get the sacred blade, do you mean us? Like, us?", he says, motioning around the table when he repeats the word us. It is unclear if he is surprised, or possibly eager, in fact he himself has mixed feelings about it.
Magnus is leaning back in his chair listening to all his new companions...friends, yes friends...talk about what they had been doing the past couple of weeks, and he turns to mention something funny to where Theron used to sit, and his spirits sadden a bit. He shakes it off making a mental note to stop by his grave before he sets off once more on cobalt business, hopefully accompanied by the people surrounding him now at this table.
At the mention of the blade, Magnus makes another mental note to inquire about such a blade in the region from the home office and from what Lokilia has mentioned about goblins, he will inquire about that as well.
Marveling at the intricate work of the mechanical dragon, Magnus pats Normant on the shoulder, "That is quite the work friend, I can not wait to see it in action in the field. Speaking of the field, I have been sent an urgent missive by my home office about traveling to Sweetwater Meadery on the Rootgarden Way. They mentioned I should pack for travel and to bring any assistance I deem fit to help. Of course I could not think of anyone else to travel with but the lot of you. I am sure I can get some compensation for your troubles. So it seems we have several avenue in front of us. We have goblins to investigate, some lost sword and now this. Not familiar with Sweetwater Meadery, is that by chance in the same direction the goblins were heading?"
“I believe we need to conduct research in all three ventures before embarking on anyone. This will help us move with all available information.” Quinn will look to Normot, “We survived an encounter with only a glimpse of the evil that is in this world. If we sit around and do nothing then we will surely not love long anyway.”
( Dev will know the Meadery is on Rootgarden Way, the road north out of town......from Lokilias decriptions the goblins are travelling through the northern forest and either heading for town or bypassing it to head further south.)
Dev doesn’t pet Normont’s creation exactly, but he moves his face very close to it to examine the details of its design. He pulls back, startled, if it makes a sudden motion.
A moment or two later, listening to the conversation, Dev blinks, looking back and forth between Lokilia and Magnus, surprised that among his assembled companions, he might know something the others do not.
( Dev will know the Meadery is on Rootgarden Way, the road north out of town......from Lokilias decriptions the goblins are travelling through the northern forest and either heading for town or bypassing it to head further south.)
Lokilia gives Dev a smile as he mentions the location of the Meadery. "Not to - from,"she says. "I bet we'll find the goblins are for some reason fleeing from the area of the Meadery." She glances over at Quinn. "I'm not so sure about investigating three things at once. This evil cult and sacred blade you were told about seems..." She pauses very briefly, "No offense to your village leader, but that information is rather vague. Unless you were given more details?" She looks at Quinn to see if he does have details but then moves on. "Anyhow, the Meadery sounds like something we can check out right away. Magnus has an actual assignment to look into it. Some travel and a little compensation perhaps. That sounds like the place to start! And if we're lucky, we'll find more about the cult. Or if we don't, we'll have one task done and will just have to dig up a lead on this other thing."
Normont would definitely keep up to date with the trial, offering whatever services he could provide towards further investigation. He will also send a letter to the Pale Lord of Wardship in Whitestone detailing the theft of the soil and its intended purpose.
