A couple hundred years ago, the land was untamed and wild around what was called the Crossing. It became a destination location for any and all who would terrorize caravans traveling along the famous Amber Way or Spidersilk Road. Eventually, a young noblewoman named Mariona Shepherd and her band of adventurers set out to settle the land. They started a small village at the Crossing and defended it as buildings and walls went up. Shepherd and her companions became legendary in their own right as they defeated countless threats from highwaymen up to a black dracolich that had awoken from it's slumber. In time, the town came to be known as Shepherd's Crossing, and as it expanded, each gate was named after one of her allies. Ria Spiro, the human cleric. Balinor Dragonhelm, the dwarf paladin. Nieven Presro, the elven ranger. Fiona Brown, the halfling mage.
Shepherd's Crossing, today, is much bigger than Mariona ever knew it to be.

Many of the buildings in Shepherd's Crossing look like typical human construction, grey stone and wood. Atop each pillar, you can sort of make out different scenes of a halfling woman doing battle, this is presumably Fiona Brown, for whom the library is named.
