Rammand mutters to himself, ”I rather enjoyed spelunking…”
He shakes himself back to reality. ”With the children in tow, and possibly Constance, a steady pace is probably out best bet. Besides, I don’t have time to reinforce any wheels for your style of driving.” He looks at Salamir. “We get what equipment we can now, steady drive through the night, then we adjust on the way if we need.”
Feeling a might bit indignant that she's made her own bed and now has to lie in it, Constance folds her arms across her chest and huffs, "I heard that."
Seeing Ed and Wyn are unmoved by his reasoning, Salamir decides not to push the issue with their prospective employer.
"Exactly, we will leave for Carrowkeel as soon as we are ready", he exclaims in agreement with Persephone. "Time may well be of the essence and we do not want to waste any. How is your vision at night?", he asks the twins.
"Ok, gather what you need everyone. Any chance of a shot of coffee before we leave, Wyn? And maybe some provisions?"
"Coffee would be a most welcome beverage before our departure."
Carefully rising from her seat, snatching up the spellbook as she does so, Constance looks both twins over. They're as obviously exhausted as she is, apparently, obviously tipsy.
"Hmm. What if we... rode double with the twins?" she suggests, hugging Alphinius tightly to her chest. The candlelight in the tavern catches on her glasses as she turns to the others. "I could increase the length of the horses' strides so we can move at an accelerated pace for the first leg of our journey."
"Please save increasing horse strides until daylight. Though some of us have dark vision, the horses don't. The faster we go at night, the greater the chance of an accident. Should we tie anyone into the saddles to keep them from falling off in exhaustion?"
“Seems a shame to lose the next eight hours or so of haste due to a lack of daylight,” Constance muses, the gears of her mind clearly turning. There is no problem without a solution. Many solutions, if she used her (non-inebriated) brain. The wizard turns to their resident tinker. The tinker and the thinker combined were a brilliant—if not somewhat unhinged—duo.
“Perhaps we could fashion some sort of lantern apparatus to them, Rammmand? Like the carriage lamps the coaches use to illuminate the path at night? Acetylene lamps combined with reflector refinements could provide a more forward-focused beam. Headlights, if you will.” Her lips purse in a self-satisfied smile over the name. There's muffled groan from within her arms.
"I'll offer to take the twins in the cart and send Ed ahead with the party on horseback. We will follow you at least at a good pace and meet you sometime in the late evening tomorrow. You all will certainly arrive by late morning or at the latest afternoon if you don't over-exert the horses," Wyn offers. "If those logistics are settled how about we ready whatever gear you'd like to borrow in addition to the horses," the gnome adds pointedly emphasizing borrow.
OOC Everyone can give a list of three nonmagical items for Wyn adding persuasion or investigation respectively. PErsuaion give me some RP to convince Wyn to let the item be borrowed and if you use an investigation check to aid Wyn in finding the items!
Ed leaves the tavern to ready the horses and cart for Wyn with the aid of the twins.

(OOC: I'd been trying to outfit Persephone and had mentioned trying to make holy water as one of her downtime activities in one of our threads. Is the 3x(3d4x10) roll I'd made in a PM acceptable for starting cash? I could subtract cost of holy water, say 6 vials?)
"Well, nonmagical, a shield may be the only thing that could be returned. Extra defense is good.
I could pay for flasks of oil, since use doesn't work as borrowing. Same with material components. I've got about four spells worth each of opalescent feldspar, talc and powdered silver but I could pay for a few more castings worth. Damage spell Moonbeam and Detect Invisible."

Investigation 16
"Oh, I can grant darkvision to 2 others within 10 feet of me, for up to 7 hours, though more than an hour uses spell slots. I was thinking of my horse and the horse next to me so two horses are taken care of. Sorry for forgetting it earlier.."
"I think I am good with what I have, but whatever you can do for my companions will be much appreciated. Anything that can improve our chances of success and help find those kids father. And please don't forget the coffee", Salamir says, trying to help out Persephone, and the others too if they have requests.
"That's a great idea. Granting the leading horses dark vision would be useful, the others should follow their lead".
With that, he gets up and slings his lute on his back, "I should collect the rest of my things".
"Oh, lovely! That would be most helpful," Constance beams, giving Seph's hand a squeeze with her own gloved one. Their saving grace, as always.
"And, if you're offering, Mr. Wyn, we could certainly make use of somewildroot, atangler grenade, or a silvered blade or bolts if you have any. To cover as many possibilities as we can. Shall I... give you a hand collecting things? I can arcanely locate the objects if needed!"
Investigation: 13+6=19 ((If those asks are a bit too rare, then a net, silk rope, and a spyglass would be great!))
“I don’t have the materials for an apparatus like that. Plus, if I’m going to make it, it will be done right. At that point the sun would be peaking up.” Rammand thinks for a minute, before an idea suddenly hit him. “Coffee. We need coffee for the trip… Wait, you already asked for that. Sorry, too many thoughts. Nothing for me, thank you.”
As Salamir gathers his things, Rammand turns to Persephone. ”I have the feeling that Constance and I may have made the children uncomfortable. With our tendency to speak before thinking and her head full of whiskey, it may be a good idea to have a signal you can make to tell us to stop talking before we screw them up further. I’d hate for them to be upset hearing us debate the number of pieces we might find their father in or some similar nonsense.”
"Borrowed things as Prersephone ademptly said aren't a single use or expendable," Wyn smirks. "I can certainly lend a shield to you my holy friend anx what a brilliant idea to gift the horses night vision! I never thought of that," he beams. "As for spell component's you can have whatever you'd need out of my stores but it's just herbs, the odd mundane crystal, and a few oils mind. Then there's the question of silvered ammunition. Well," Wyn sighs rubbing a smooth hairless chin. "It isn't exactly cheap or easily lent is it? We do have a few silvered blades and a spear as I recall," he explains to Constance. "You can have your pick of daggers Miss Drake but I dare say as a wizard a blade seems an odd decision for defending one self," he muses. Wyn then smiles as Salamir and Rammand. "As for coffee, Ed never travels anywhere without coffee black enough to make souls in the Nine Hells shutter! You'll have the best food in Talamh with that tabaxi at your camp fire. Shall we pack up and get started," the gnome says leading anyone who'd follow to his stores.
Passed the bar, beneath a large taxidermy red dragon Wyn gestures at a wall to reveal a doorway that wasn't there before!
"Come, come..." Wyn the ushers those borrowers inside.
OOC As I said borrow you'll need to adapt to that limit. Spell components useless listed at a high $ value (diamonds, pearls etc) or you know are rare are a given your caster wouldn't have the components. But if it's for flare ex for invisibility 'eyelash encased in gum arabic' you'd have it. Things at a high cash value (10+ gp) we can RP a 'flashback' in private PMs to see if you were able to attain it!

As soon as Rammand says "..may be a good idea to have a signal you can make to tell us to stop talking..." Persephone will wave Constance over to the conversation and repeat what she's missed.
"Ok. First, when you guys get a train of thought going, it takes a train wreck to stop it. Which is good for troubleshooting, bad for social stuff. So here's what I'll do. As soon as you get into macabre stuff that could scare the excrement out of normal people, I'll try to switch tracks. For example, I might say:
"Constance, what if the lack of tracks is from a shapeshifter not a flyer? Say a were-sheep that turns into a human or a regular sheep, so the tracks are there, but blend in?"
If circumstances allow, an index finger held upright in front of my lips, or if the victim of the TMI is facing away from me, waving my arms like a maniac or making a cut throat -like cut it out- would work."
(OOC: Feel free to RP Persephone as using these hints if I'm not at the "gaming table" to do it myself.)
As the gnome clarifies, Constance removes her glasses to rub at her eyes, vision now both swimming and blurry, before apologizing. "Borrow. Yes, of course. My apologies, Mr. Wynn. Many use the term colloquially and often make it--however incorrectly--synonymous in connotation with 'use.' I wrongly assumed that was the case here," she explains, blinking at the vague shape of the man. "And the silvered blade wouldn't be for myself, but for one of my companions who would put it to much better use should it be needed!" She's relieved to hear there might be something suitable for Salamir to use at least. Quietly she adds as she puts her glasses back on, "Though I have been practicing my dagger skills..." then notices Persephone waving her over.
"Alright, I'll be sure to look out for a signa--a weresheep!? Does such a creature exist? It would take a unique strain of the lycanthropy curse, surely," she wonders, already sidetracked as she retrieves a number of books from her bag and starts to flip through, searching for any mention of men turning into sheep or vice-versa. "Are they bloodthirsty? Or do they simply over-graze and savage people's lawns and gardens?" She continues to hypothesize the details of theoretical "ovidthrope" as she follows after the others.
Salamir listens to the others talking about signals and distractions as they follow Wyn through the secret door, and can't help but chuckle a little under his breath. Not for the first time he wonders how Kit managed to lead four such different personalities.
Whilst the others are gone, and before he goes to collect his things, he reaches across the table for the jug of wine and refills his goblet. "No wonder you had a fondness for whiskey", he says quietly before raising the goblet to the ceiling. "Here's to you, Kit. I bet you are having a good laugh at our expense right now", he adds and downs it.
(OOC: Happy for the others to overhear if they really want)
The party gathers the loaner gear and spell components before going outside to find Ed having readied 5 horses as well as a wagon with two horses attached.
"We're ready," Ed says gesturing at the transportation.
Brida and Baltus Gunnulf climb into the wagon that's filled with blankets and a bed of straw.
"Excellent," Wyn exclaims having donned a wide brimmed hat and a brown cloak.
They party is ushered towards their respective horses.

A dapple grey stallion paws at the ground as Constance approaches. She's coos at the thoroughbred, The Good Doctor, who immediately nibbles at her hair when she's close enough. "Hello, Doc, darling. Are you ready to ride? We've a long journey ahead of us."
"Yes, we do! And I insist that I not be shoved in those infernal saddlebags this time," Alphinius demands. "I want to feel the wind in my pages!"
Constance chuckles and retrieves her book holster from the bags she collected from her room, strapping both herself and the spellbook in. As per her usual routine prior to travel, she traces an arcane sigil into Doc's leather barding that pulsates in a faint glow. Coaxing the sigil from the leather with a spell incantation, she guides it to the center of her chest, where the glow envelops her whole person before fading away, leaving only the oaky, earthy scent of leather behind.
With that done, she mounts the eager horse and nearly topples over the other side as she does so. "Blast it, that hells-darned whiskey--" she mutters to herself, righting her rear in the saddle and then tucking her skirts this way and that lest they end up over her head while riding.
