The tall man raises an eyebrow at Mischief, but doesn't comment and does take a more studying look at Dirla, the tentacle cat, who seems to be in charge of misplaced things.
Correct - this is a displacer beast, although apparently domesticated and given the power of speech, which you know is not normal. You do know that they are usually not considered good, and that those tentacles can be as dangerous as those teeth. They are often not where they appear to be, some sort of illusion that hides their nearby location.
"These children are waiting for their parents to find them here, for sure, although I suppose they are not lost. Their mother is currently fetching food and drink, and if you have ever had young like these, you can know how much trouble it can be to keep track of them." The creature suddenly seems very sad.
"You see, some things do occasionally go missing from the Witchlight Carnival, and are never seen again...."
One of the boys had just picked up a mirrored ball from the edge of the wagon, and 'Dirla' flashes a look of anger. She snatches the item back with a snarl and a flick of her tentacle, causing the young boy to step back, frightened and surprised. He immediately turns and runs away.
"Viro? Come back!" Starting to dart to where the boy ran, the creature immediately turns and sees the other boy. "I am sorry, I cannot leave poor Allowin here. Can you please find Viro and return him? Find him, and I will answer your questions."
Mischief's gaze follows the fleeing boy, his heart going out to the child. "Alright, Dirla. We'll find Viro for you," he assures, though his voice carries a hint of frustration at the situation.
With determination in his eyes, he turns to the group, "Let's find the boy and return him. The carnival is full of wonders, but also distractions. We mustn't let him get too far."
Without waiting for an answer, Mischief starts off in the direction the boy fled, his keen eyes scanning for any sign of him. And while he's at it, Mischief keeps an eye out for anything that might remind him of the smile he once lost.
"Alright, I don't see any reason not to help, I'd hate to have to add 'kid' to the pile of lost things" Marwan notes, before running after mischief, he will let the entry he was holding open close naturally, he avoids getting too close to the beast, and thinks to look for any footprints before going after mischief fully 18 survival, Which would be the proper roll for finding footprints

Xivros tries to hang back and use his height to advantage, scanning the area, ready to point out the direction the boy ran if he spots them.
20 for that perception I think in the end. for whatever the reason, the dice physics engine freaked out with my die ran into the skill check pop up and launched it around the screen. Good times. :P
As Marwan is tracking the young boy, Xivros looks around and sees a candy stall. Playing a hunch, he points it out to Marwan, who confirms that appears to be where the tracks are leading. After a few moments, they see the boy hiding on the side of the stall, licking a piece of candy. Very briefly, they both catch a glimpse of a little, gray-skinned girl wearing a pig mask and holding an oversized lollipop out for the boy. But as a person crosses their line of sight, they look again and she is gone.

"Weird kid in a mask..." Marwan mumbles after the girl leaves his sight, he asks Viro nicely to go back to Dirla "Aren't your parents coming with food and drink too? You don't want to spoil your appetite, carnival food can taste just as good as candy....was that grey kid a friend of yours, by theway?" he is just curious about that.

The kid looks at Marwan and shrugs. "Fine," he says, and stands up to come along.
Note to Marwan:
As a witchlight hand, you have been around for a while, and you swear you have seen this figure before... maybe just a reflection in a mirror, or once standing still in a crowd of moving people. Of course, it is far from the only odd thing you have seen, so it is easily dismissed as well.

Marwan will lead him back over to Dirla, he will just shrug off the figure for the most part, he already asked the kid and didn't get an answer, and isn't one to be deterred by a creepy kid. he will keep one eye on Viro to make sure he doesn't run off again "Found him, he was over by the candy stand" he will note to Dirla once they get back "We are looking for our lost things, they're not ordinary lost things, however, we've lost stuff like the ability to smile, would you know anything about where they would be kept?" he asks Dirla once Viro is returned to her.

Mischief approaches slowly, not wanting to startle Viro further. He speaks softly to the boy. "It's easy to get lost in the magic of the carnival. You're safe now."
He turns to Dirla, "Dirla, as Marwan asked, do you know where we might find our lost things? Even the most intangible of them?"
The cat-like creature listens to your questions, and seems sad again. "I do not know about such things. I, too, have lost something dear to me. My own cub, Star, disappeared from this place many years ago. This mirrored ball is all I have to remember her by. Anyway, I wish I could help you more, but I cannot. I will say, though, that these appear to be troubling times. Even our carnival owners, Mister Witch and Mister Light, seem to be on edge. I don't know why, and I certainly would not advise confronting them directly, but something is odd."

"Don't reckon I have an reason to go confrontin' anyone" Xivros comments. "But if ah see your cub, ah let you know. How big would they be now?" Realizing that a cub that had been missing for years might not be a cub anymore.
Approaching the 'lost and found', Xivros looks for a sign or a door or window to knock on.
Mischief, with a contemplative look, turns to face Dirla. "We appreciate your help and understand that your cub is your priority. We just need to find what we lost, and if this isn't the place, then we'll continue our search. But if you ever hear or see anything that might help us, please let us know."
Pausing for a moment and looking at the mirrored ball, Mischief adds, "Is there anything special about that mirrored ball? Sometimes, items hold clues or memories that can lead us to what we're looking for."
"I'm sorry to hear about your cub, Dirla, as Xivy said, We will return your cub if we see them, for sure, Family is very important." He notes, solemnly "To be honest, I wasn't expecting to find it here, but it's worth a look, at least, perhaps we can even find a clue." Marwan adds, hopeful "After we're done looking inside the lost and found, you can show us where you last saw Star, that's always the first place to look in regards to a missing person."

"Star was last seen right here. She must have wondered off, but where could she have gone? I very much doubt she left the carnival, and yet she is not here. We have torn the place apart. Thank you for offering to help locate here. Please, take this mirrored ball in case it helps you."
