"Yes, let's hope so. We can't survive too many more of those encounters." Mayhew looks down the trail. "I'm not very good at tracking or spotting ambushes, but I'll follow close by whoever takes the lead and have weapons and the healing of the gods at the ready."
He looks at Corban. "How are you doing? I can heal you again if you need it, or save it for later. The gods have allowed me two more uses of their power before we rest."
Mayhew will also try to retrieve one or both of his bolts, if possible.
Okay. Nari, if you are going down the trail, roll a Perception check. Or are you headed down the road to Phandalin? Either way, what do you do with the wagon?
"Let's pull the wagon off the trail and tie the animals to a tree, so it's out of sight, and then carefully follow the trail," says Mayhew. "Maybe a ways away, so the dead horses don't spook the live ones. Once we proceed, I'll either be in the middle or bring up the rear, whichever you prefer, Corban."
I’ll take up the back mayhew no big deal. I agree with moving the horses and wagon off the trail a good distance in the opposite direction of the trail. Don’t want them to hear us first. Helps move the wagon and horses
Okay. Once the wagon and oxen are settled in an out-of-the-way clearing on the other side of the road. You follow the trail for about ten minutes when a snare trap is triggered. Nari, make a Dexterity saving throw.
"Oh no." Mayhew rushes up, uncoiling the rope from his pack and wondering if, despite his relative inexperience, the gods have actually granted him power to influence events by his musings, and if so, why they've chosen to have it bring about negative outcomes.
Bracing himself on the edge of the pit, he looks at Corban. "You may have to help me. Physical exertion isn't my forte. Or I'll help you."
I'm hoping to allow Corban to get advantage on an Athletics check to help her climb out, if that's the path we're taking. Or I'm open to other ideas.
The trail ends at a cave in a hillside five miles from the scene of the ambush. A shallow stream flows from the cave mouth, which is screened by dense briar thickets. A narrow, dry path leads into the cave on the right side of the stream.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"This may be where the goblins came from, and perhaps our friends are here as well, if they're still alive." Mayhew looks at his companions. "We should proceed with caution."
He'll resume his place in the middle of the group as they advance. Stealth check: 18
Corban helps pull nari up from the pit. Mayhew i got this my friend. should be able to get her up just fine. Pulls her up. Can we heal her or do we save the healing spell?

"I will lead, I'm not yet injured." Nari says, finally turning to the both of them.

"That's a good idea, Mayhew," she says in return. She begins helping move the wagon and horses. Once that is done she leads the way down the trail.
Perception: 14

Dex Save: 19
Nari easily steps out of the snare before it can tighten around their legs.
You walk another ten minutes down the trail. Nari, roll another Perception check.
Perception: 13
Okay, Nari. Make a Dexterity save.
"This is clearly a challenging trail," Mayhew muses, "and Nari is certainly very nimble."
Almost as if Mayhew words jinxed her, Dex Save: 6
Okay. Nari takes 4 hp bludgeoning damage as they fall into a 6'x6', 10' deep pit.
"Oh no." Mayhew rushes up, uncoiling the rope from his pack and wondering if, despite his relative inexperience, the gods have actually granted him power to influence events by his musings, and if so, why they've chosen to have it bring about negative outcomes.

Nari grunts at the impact. "Who is digging pits this deep?" she grumbles.
