"Thar... Looks like you are making friends in town already." The Kenku says with a grin, before turning to the sergeant and tipping his hat. "Don't worry, we'll take him from here." He adds with a wink.
"Sure I did! This gentlemen here insisted to show me the hospitality of their cells and to enjoy the ingenuity of those that decided to left verses and poems in the walls... there are some quite funny I must say..."
Not without some level of embarrassment the sergeant seals the papers needed.
"Have a nice day..."
"Thank you sergeant and... can I have my weapons back please?"
Finally the three friends walk together down the streets of Baldur's Gate.
"Thank you for coming to rescue me "says Thar. It seems that the episode hasn't darkened his mood. "Now tell me how are you? and the kids? I am so happy to see you... and tell me all about this festivity, the city seems ready... "
"We were discussing carving pumpkins in preparation of tomorrow night." Omen interjects with a smile. "I brought my own, but do you all have some to carve as well?" He asks as his eyes scan the busy streets until he spots a cart selling pumpkins. "I'll buys enough for the whole group if we need some more."
The overly excited kenku quickly looks towards Thar and back to the cart. "Looks like we may need at one for Thar." He adds with a smile as he begins to more towards the pumpkins vendor.
Thar taps Kit in the shoulder and winks at Twig and follows Omen to the pumpkin vendor
- And why we would carve pumpkins for? -Thar looks to his hands and says - Hmmm maybe I'll take two.. I have the feeling that I will do pumpkin pulp instead of carving one... -he smirks.
"I suppose I should do one as well," Kit says as she fishes around in her coin purse. "We only got pumpkins for the kids but if it's going to be a family activity..."
"We all should do it, Liar's night was the only holiday I ever celebrated growing up! I always carved a pumpkin and and left a candle inside so that that night, I would be sure to come home with plenty of candy and other trinkets!" He says with a smile as he seemingly becomes lost in thought for a bit. After quickly shaking his head, he pulls out some coins to buy the pumpkins before kit can do it. "It's OK kit, i'll pay! It will be a fun family activity for us all. Plus I have a job lined up for all of us tomorrow night that I think you will all enjoy if you are interested." He says before looking to Kit and grinning. "especially you."
The pumpkin vendor is a stocky old man wearing a clean set of overalls and a straw hat. He hands over the pumpkins and smiles wide when Omen hands him a gold coin and tells him to keep the change. After paying for the pumpkins, Omen is prepared to head back to Kit's house unless anyone else wants to stop at many of the other vendor carts setting up along the street. Some are beginning to sell sweets and hard candy while others are selling masks and costumes. One appears to be selling very small trinkets and toys that could be either handed out to children or easily held in pockets to be stolen by those celebrating Liar's night..
"Really, you don't have to..." Kit protests but she quickly concedes to letting Omen pay.
"Thank you,"she whispers.
"A job," she asks with more than a little eagerness in her voice but her face quickly drops. "I'd love to, Omen, you know I would. But someone has to look out for the kids and Elia's always working and..."
"What about Nave? Pick's adopted daughter over at the Boar and Lyre. Or Slick Rick down at the wharf? Okay, maybe not Rick. I hear Lilith and Kieran are back in town..."
She gives a longing sigh, "I mean, of course I'd love to hear about it, but the answer is going to be a no."
Omen smiles and shakes his head "that's the best part! The kids can come..." The kenku says a with a smile. "I was going to tell you once we got back to the house, but I suppose I can tell you now... Lady Zephyr specifically requested my help with supervising the activities taking place at the orphanage tomorrow night... and she asked that I bring a crew with me!. The city guard will be present to make sure that nothing too crazy takes place. She is just asking that we walk through the crowd and notify the guards if we see anything suspicious. Basically acting as undercover agents in the crowd. " Omen grins even wider. "The best part Kit is that we get to be in the parade! The kids can ride on a float and toss candy to the crowds... So long as we keep our eyes open for any threats... we will get paid to simply enjoy the festivities!... We are going to get paid to enjoy ourselves.... it's the easiest job we've ever been offered." Omen beams.
Twig and Telron remain back at the house when Kit and Omen leave to retrieve Thar....well...Telron does anyways. Twig waits a few moments before stalking behind the two. Most people probably wouldn't notice her stealthing her way behind Kit and Omen, but at this point she's probably followed Kit enough times that she's able to spot her.
Once they return and Kit confronts the girl about that look earlier... "Huh? I have no clue what you are talking about!" She says in a very convincing voice....well convincing to anyone who doesn't know what she's capable of.
"She stole the Mayor's son's pocket watch again."
"Oh come on Telron! Why do you have to be a tattle tail! And I didn't steal it! I just rehomed it for a while. That spoiled jerk is gonna have a wonderful time finding it this time."
Telron rolls his eyes. This would be the third...fourth? time Twig has done this. She's taken to stealing things from certain people and hiding the item...usually within the owners own estate or yard, in a way to make it appear that they've lost it.
"...Anyways...Pumpkins! Let's hurry and pick some!" She takes off towards the cart Omen had pointed out.
After picking the pumpkins, Twig listens intently to Omen's explanation....even if he wasn't intending for her to hear him. Her grin widens as he talks. "Ooooo I can do that! Trust me!"
"The easiest job we've ever been offered. The last time you said that I had to jump out of a second story window into a moving haycart."
Kit can't help but smile at the memory. Life as a full time mother was...not exactly what she had imagined. Rewarding yes, but also challenging and stressful and...boring. The idea of doing something, the possibility of adventure, no matter how mundane, had the lure of a siren song...
And frankly, money was tight. Raising two children was proving to be far more expensive than Kit and Eila had anticipated.
"Promise me the kids will be safe. And only if Thar's coming too," she relents, looking up at the Bugbear.
"Twig, for the last time, stop taking things."She emphasizes taking, very familiar with Twig's willingness to obey the letter of the law while subverting the intent. "And if you are going to take things, at least stop taking them from people who can have us banished from the city."
Had Twig just heard 'you can take things, just not from important people'possibly... probably... absolutely.
"If I am invited of course I will be there too!" reassures Thar putting a big hand into Kit's shoulder. "And I won't be needing a mask or a disguise this time hehehe "
Omen places a hand on Kits shoulder and attempts to raise his other arm to place a hand on Thar's as well. "I promise I'll do everything I can to keep the kids safe." he says to Kit before looking to Thar. "And of course you are invited!" He adds with a grin. "The job is to simply enjoy the festivities and keep an eye out for anyone looking to cause trouble. We are literally being paid to play games, eat candy, and enjoy ourselves."
after arriving back at the house, Omen would excitedly begin carving his pumpkin while assisting the others with theirs as well. The kenku seems quite focused on his work, speding quite a bit of time on perfecting the details of his pumpkin. He seems much more excited about Liars night than any other holiday that would normally be celebrated in Baldur's gate.
"So Lady Zephyr is wanting to meet with me this evening to discuss our plans for tomorrow. She had asked that I bring my team with me. Are you all OK with heading over to the orphanage tonight after supper to speak with her? She really is quite an interesting lady." the kenku says before adjusting his top hat a bit. You arn't sure if a kenku can blush but you get the impression that he thinks she is more than just interesting.
Thar, bitting his own tongue at one side of his mouth and with a stare of extreme focus while he is trying to carve, not to destroy, his pumpkin, nods.
"Sure Omen... whatever you need... " he mutters. His big hand almost covering his pumpkin
Twig sighs dramatically, "UUUUUUGGHHH fine. I will try to suppress the urge to give those jerks what they deserve and attempt to keep my itchy fingers from taking anything from anyone." She crosses her arms and mutters almost unintelligibly, "Moving an item isn't taking it."
Once all the pumpkin's are acquired, the two children draw their knives and have at it...Twig being far more violent than Telron when ripping the guts from the fruit. She carves a jagged, evil looking face into the pumpkin. Telron on the other hand makes his a lot friendlier looking.
"SURE!" Twig exclaims, holding her wickedly grinning jack-o-lantern over her head.

(Perception check to overhear Twig, Rynn or Wreckzors give me a DC please? 26)
Kit gives "fun Uncle Omen" a scowl. He should know the kids shouldn't be out so late but one look at the Kenku and she can't help but give in without even the whisper of a fight. Besides, if she doesn't let them go Twig will be completely unmanageable for the rest of the night.
She turns back to her lonely pumpkin sitting next to Eila's uncarved one. Her feelings are clearly contagious from the melancholic expression on the half-carved face.
"I'm going to take a quick break and get these seeds toasting," she says as she scoops up the bowl of pumpkin guts and heads towards the oven...
"Thar... Looks like you are making friends in town already." The Kenku says with a grin, before turning to the sergeant and tipping his hat. "Don't worry, we'll take him from here." He adds with a wink.
Thar laughs

Kit chews on her lip, a dark cloud forming on her brows.
"What? Oh sorry. Things are good. The kids are good..."
She levels a gaze at Twig.
"The children are healthy and well," she amends, "Twig, what was that about back at the house?
