This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Korbiña, surprized by the captain's sudden yelling slips and lands on her butt, the raven lifting off into the air to circle above the scene... Korbiña scrables to regain her footing in the mud slip-sliding towards the others undef the tree.
As more Crabs begin scurrying out of the river foam, several smaller specimens are shoved away from their meals by larger ones. The braver, or more desperate, of the brood turn towards the fresh meat gathered under the treeline. Mandible foaming, they charge forth.
[Note: the crabs are essentially 1 hit kills, so roll only for hits for now; feel free to use the dice on your character sheet if you're having trouble with the forum dice. AoEs and sweeps roll once for a group. This is just so I can see what you're initially capable of.]
The Captain draws her crossbow and fires (4). The shot goes wide. "Shit!" She falls back to reload.
=============================================
The first two groups are still a fair distance away. Both close half the distance in short order. They're too far away to attack.
Still in the intro. Gotta "clean up" what the first guy started. For now, just consider the area a long beachfront. Heavy rain, mud and little cover. I'll flesh shit out once this part is over, but think of this campaign as something of a walless maze.
Once we get into the nitty gritty, you'll have more options than just these straightforward combat situations. This is going to be 70% RP, with 30% Combat.
Korbiña nearly slips, but manages to catch herself as she turns around her Staff and her eyes emitting a dark pink glow...
She withdraws to behind the line of the others and:
If the wind is not heavy, then Korbiña casts Fog Cloud (40 diameter sphere) to hopefully obscure the advancement of the crabs and buy everyone a bit more time while she withdraws behind the others...
If the wind is too strong, instead Korbiña casts Acid Splash... it is not a true AoE spell, but can hit two targets within 5 ft of each other: DEX save DC 13 for both
(hey itts jylek. my computer wont let me log in with myy other account so created new one. i think it is hilarious that i go last. especially since i said my char wasnt paying attention. XD)

Hit. One of the rear crustaceans in group B explodes in a squelching *pop,* Shell and viscera rain down around it. Bits of undigested human matter are among the remains. A second crab is hit by the force of its exploding ally, stunning it. The third creature advances, undeterred.
@Korbina
No wind. Absolutely none. The thick veil descends on the beach, enwreathing the scene in a deep, insurmountable fog. Several larger crabs, fearful of the sudden onset of magic and burning flesh, retreat back into the churning river.
Daelen steps forward, belaying pin in hand, and poises himself to swing when the first crabs close the distance. (Preemptive hit roll: 14)
===========================================
Two crabs (of group C) break off from their charge, opting to feast on the remains of their immolated kin. The third continues, crossing the halfway point towards the group.
(Trying to picture this. Not sure if the fog cloud is obscuring / Quartz and the decapods.)
1. Not obscured : The Firbolg seeing the ravenous crustaceans advance starts breathing faster, his heart racing as his fingers and forerms lengthen supernaturally, his jaw likewise, extending as he takes on a vicious, animal character Primal savagery before rushing toward the nearest crab and trying to cut away its eye stalks.
11 for 2 acid
2. Heavily Obscured : Quartz casts faerie fire on any crabs in a 20ft. cube, instead
The air is heavy with the thick fog, but your flame carries well into the obscurity.Two distinct groups at the forefront are illuminated, with more remaining hidden and some beyond still moving in. Their eyes glisten with dumb hunger and foam pours from their mouths. These creatures are uncannily ravenous. Small, but ravenous.
============================================
Crabs (groups D & E): both clusters reach the pile of crab meat. (Rolling) Four of them stop to eat bits of their dead fellow. Only two in group E continue.

"Thank the..." He looks at the captain confused. "...what?"
You better watch out you better not cry you better not pout I'm telling you why. Murderers are coming to town.
the dragonborn rushes in to place at the back and slightly to the sideof the group, drawing his spear and readying his self.

Quartz initiative 7
Crabs (by groups of 3):
7
8
16
3
18
Daelen: 17
Captain: 24
If your attacks have sweeps or AoEs, you can hit the whole group. Arrows, precision spells and spear-type weapons only get you one target.
Combat Order:
Captain
Crabs (group A)
Crabs (group B)
Asher
Korbiña
Daelen (I'll control him)
Crabs (group C)
Quartz
Crabs (group D)
Crabs (group E)
Gregory
So Captain goes first...
Do we have something remotely resembling a map?
Or a campaign?
