Ospos turned on his charm and began to barter with Gita, "Gita, some of us are not equipped to travel outside of the city. The 100 gold advance will help in that regard, but there's also the issue that you don't know exactly where this mine shaft is. So we'll need to spend time researching or canvasing local villages looking for information. I'm thinking some of us are on the fence about this proposition. A little bit more incentive might go a long way. Payable when the task is done, of course! Look at it this way, we'll have proven our capabilities and we'll all be equipped and ready for the next challenge you would wish to give us. It's an investment!"
Clermar finishes his ale and goes to get another. "If no one has anything to do, it's lucky we met. Seems like a perfect opportunity to get some quick work done, which is good for you too. Gita, was it?"
Dril: You do remember a tale of a particular wood elven princess from a time before the Breach. She lived in the Efferfrond, their ancestral homeland, an ancient forest which once stretched all the way to the eastern coast of Uvalli. There is a tale of one princess, often told to little children, about Yldaria, the most beautiful princess to ever have been. According to the story, she had many suitors, from all across the land. Her parents wanted to take advantage of this, and held grand balls where nobles and princes would come bearing lavish gifts, hoping to win her hand. Yldaria hated this, for her heart belonged to Caeldrinn, an archdruid of the Efferfrond. She'd fallen for his rugged charm and deep connection to nature. There are several variations on the story, but they all end with Yldaria and Caeldrinn both vanishing after her parents tried to force her into an arranged marriage. You don't recall anything about the mirror, but based on the information you think it could possibly be a gift from one of her suitors. Gita snaps you out of your thoughts "No no, lucky for you there's no deadline, but I do have a reputation to uphold! It shouldn't take you longer than a week, two at the most, to get back here."
Ospos: "It's North! Directly north! Agh, I guess combat skills don't necessarily translate to a good sense of direction." she jabs. She is still smiling and chuckling, but clearly a little perturbed. "I'm paying you guys a premium, you gotta understand I need to make a living too." she says, and pauses. Her fingers drum on the table as she seems to be thinking. Then she slaps both hands down suddenly. "TELL YA WHAT! You asked for my sources right? Rat owes me a favor. He's familiar with the Sunridge. Go to him and tell 'em Gita sent you. He can guide you to the mines. Easy peasy. How bout that? We got a deal?!" she says, excitedly again.
Ospos stooped just a little, disappointed his charm didn't pay off in coin. "Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but you did sweeten the deal some. I'll take the job if enough of these fellows here also agree."
Ospos panics at the idea of leaving immediately, "An hour! It's late, I'm hungry again and I'm tapped out from that fire elemental. I say we leave in the morning, after my third breakfast."
"Where might we find this... Rat?" Liafial looks to Gita awaiting a little more from her. After getting directions to the location of Rat, Liafial will look around slowly at everyone to gauge their intentions as he asks, "We could take the rest of today to make any necessary preparations and leave tomorrow morning if everyone agrees?"
“Rat’s staying down in tiefling town, at the Stumble Inn. He’s vermin alright but he’s a good guy. Just don’t expect him to be any help if there’s trouble, that boy’ll run faster than a centaur!”
(Neanyou definitely know where the Stumble Inn is, as would anyone else who’s spent lots of time in the slums of Solacus)
A little shadow crosses Neans eyes as he hears about the Tieflings location. "The Stumble Inn, huh. Of course thats where he would be. Wanna go there and meet up with him right now?" He asks the group."People stayin there are not used to getting up at dawn, if we really want him as our guide we better tell him as fast as possible."
"It's getting late and its a celebration day, I don't want to head out tonight, and I don't expect many shops to be open now. If we head out tomorrow, can we do some shopping first? I need to see if I can get something to replace what I may have lost in a game of chance."
Bram looks around at the others to see if there is a conciseness on what the group will choose to do.
Looking distraught at the idea of having to miss a meal to find this Rat person this late at night, Ospos beckoned the barkeep, "What do you have to eat that is ready right now and can be eaten on the move?" Looking to the others, he continued, "Let me just get enough food to get me to tiefling town before we head out."
Ospos: She looks a tad flustered at the question. "Oh well, we do have delicious food here but honestly none of it is super fast or easy to walk with. You'd probably be better off getting food from a street vendor. Things will probably still be open for another few hours at least."
Gita stands up and begins to rifle through a pouch at her side. "Yes yes, go find Rat. Now. Or in the morning! Enjoy the festival! But get some rest. Here's your advance," she says as she dumps a pile of gold coin on the table. "Sort it yourselves, I'm gonna turn in for the night! So happy we could make this arrangement." she says before turning to head upstairs.
(You can all get 100gp. Also just as general knowledge, it's currently about 9 pm)
(ok for the sake of brevity, each of you let me know if you're either going shopping or going with the group to talk to Rat. We won't rp all the shopping stuff so just tell me what you're getting and I'll tell you how much gold it'll be. General knowledge: most stores would close around this time normally, but since there's a festival they're likely to be open much later)
Liafial: That will cost 10 gp, and shopping and casting the spell will pretty much take the rest of the night.
Ospos collects his 100 gold pieces, then looks at the others, "If we are to leave early tomorrow, we need to buy our supplies now, before the shops close. I propose we meet at The Stumble Inn in a couple of hours to find this Rat fellow. Agreed?"
Nodrus mainly stood around the group, not saying much, but moving with them and going where they went, he didn't know any of them too well, but felt like this was his calling to get back into a stable life, perhaps adventuring with this group could help him after all. Nodrus would be looking around for any stores that appeared to sell potions, particularly healing potions.
