My goodness, look what we have found! You have spent a lot of time developing this world which brings me a lot of hope that you will not abandon the campaign and you clearly have a plan. I'd expect to post virtually every day, pun intended. I'd love to join and am pretty flexible on character. At this point what do you see as the biggest need for the group? It looks like you have a Homebrew Rogue which is pretty sweet, a wizard, barbarian, Druid. Possibly another tanky type? Monk or Master Falconer or more healing? Happy to round out the group.
Background:Acolyte of Mr'went Qao (Investigation, Survival, 2 languages, Sentinel)
Backstory: I imagine since Tabaxi are a rare sight in civilized areas that he was raised in a large, secluded forest where his colony has established either a hidden or difficult to reach monastery. The small community is mostly self-sustaining, living off the land for their basic needs. Other races and cultures do visit from time to time, mostly elves and dwarves. When they do, the young Tabaxi usually rush over to them and surround them out of curiosity, making inquisitive meows. Snickerz has picked up how to communicate with these funny looking people over the years. Tabaxi do leave the colony on rare occasions, either out of wanderlust or necessity. Everyone is related to everyone in some way with each generation either having many siblings or cousins. The value of Family was taught to Snickerz as early as he can remember, and he has a strong bond of kinship with all other Tabaxi. After his wild, untamed kitten years, he was allowed to tag along with hunting parties to help provide for the colony. He learned how to be stealthy and use his senses to track prey. He still loves the thrill of the chase and can hardly restrain himself when he sees others running. Recently he was chosen to learn how to discipline his inner feline, sometimes chaotic but often lethargic, by becoming a student of Mr'went Qoa. He has not been an Acolyte long, but his masters have instilled within him a sense of Duty and Honor already. He is excited to continue his training. In time, who knows what more he can learn. The physical exercise is a great release of tension but do require quite a few naps afterwards. One day his masters approached him and pulled him aside with a concerned look upon their faces. Behind them stood an elf he had not seen before...(insert reason needed for leaving home)

Olivia Balwearie is a wingless fairy artificer/alchemist and would utilize this campaign's homebrew Mountebank background. She is a very skilled potion-maker, but is, unfortunately, a fairy. This identity situation leads to serious boredom, dissatisfaction with the standard variation/array of potion-ing, and a desire to, er, be a bit impulsive as a potioneer. Okay, maybe I'm being reductive (clearly not ALL fairies are as scatterbrained and "creative" as Oli), but she certainly tends to the more chaotic/capricious nature of her fey ancestry. Anyway, more to come after dice rolls.

Name (if different than your username) and pronoun you the player wish to be known by: Will (accepts all pronouns)
Character name: Olivia Balwearie or Oli
Class (planned subclass): Artificer (Alchemist)
Background: Mountebank
Backstory:
Olivia Balwearie dreams of being the foremost alchemist/potion master in all of Sauvogia--she won't admit she'd settle for being well-known in the region. She imagines, not a fully-stocked alchemist shop, where she'll make money hand-over-fist, but a secure post researching rare ingredients and crafting fabulous potions.
Why would a fairy want to become a superstar potion creator/researcher? Well--like most creatures from the Feywild--it began with capricious curiosity. One day, she happened upon the wreck of a potion maker's equipment, including several books detailing ingredients and potion recipes. Fascinated by the fabulous ingredients and recipes, Oli collected every book and scrap she could to try to recreate every potion in the man's repertoire, as well as to create her own variants of said potions. One day, she'll brew up the most amazing elixirs and gain the recognition she thinks she deserves. Unfortunately for Oli, her corner of Sauvogia only has so many potion ingredients, and many of her acquaintances (potioneering doesn't leave much time for friends) keep coming back for the same, old, boring potions, prompting her to venture south in order to find new, amazing potion components and, perhaps, meet some likeminded alchemists/potion-makers who may be able to teach her a thing or two (she certainly feels she can teach others a few tricks).
Relax! Have fun!! What the (*)*)(@*&$ing (#(@$(( are you sotensefor?!?!?!!!!
Clearly must've been the twitchy tipple of tautness. Always gets to me.
Backstory: Uz was a captain in a war that has now been forgotten. He joined the army thinking that he could make a difference and be a real-life hero, but he found out that there is no such thing in this life. While in war he found that he was fighting beings that wanted to survive just like him but he had a job to do. After making a bad decision that resulted in the death of 5 of his soldiers, he left the front lines. It is now 30 years later and his old life now just feels like a nightmare. He has not been able to find love or friends but he has found a vice in ale. Uz is on this adventure for new beginnings and to find meaning in his life.
Hey all! I've needed to be the support person recently for a friend who was hospitalized with a bad blood infection and came back to an apartment where they live alone. They're doing vastly better and it looks like they'll make a full recovery, but its taken enough time and energy that I've decided to extend the timing on all my games by at least a couple of days. I am also aware various winter holidays are in progress or about to begin manywhere in the northern hemisphere and stress is high enough without stringing this out too long. Deadline is now Tuesday December 19th.

I am very interested and ready to be dedicated to contributing to this campaign. Whatever these rolls are, I'll play my Varient Human War Magic Wizard. I've put much effort into the backstory and personality of this character.
Backstory:His brother took everything. Dreams of the shadow were too frequent. And his life study, the secret of magic, was still out of reach. All he needed was a page of notes. a page he could never write. He worked later and later into the night. The dim candles flickered by the open window, moonlight filling the room like a ghostly haze. His parrot slept softly in the corner. The soft creaking of the floorboards crept towards the library. "You don't have to keep doing this, sir. I have what you seek." Yvas turned around. A strange man in sky-blue robes was there, his golden red hair brushing his shoulders as he walked. "I saw you with Kygga the other day. You seek the secrets of magic. I have that." Yvas recognized this man; he had appeared in the vision a month ago. The man from the dream pulled out the book. "Micans Tome..." Yvas stated in awe. "How is it that you have a copy? You're with the Golden Guild, then?" The man nodded. His pale ocean eyes seemed to flash as he smiled. "But if you want this book, I need this one thing from you. I need your soul. Just for a time, for my magic. You can earn it back through deeds." Yvas thought for only a second. He needed this secret. The sound of rain pattered against the mahogany roof. "I'll take the offer."
Yvas became successful in his studies, learning at Stonehive College and sharpening his skills. But his worry was growing ever deeper: he didn't have a soul. He needed to earn it back, and he now has the quest to do it. "For honor, for chaos, may the sands of time be in destiny's favor!"
Class (planned subclass): Bard (School of whispers)
Background:
Charlatan/ Entertainer Background
• Feature: False Identity.
• Traits: Sarcasm and Insults are my weapon of choice / When ever I come to a new place, I collect local rumors and spread gossip
• Ideal: Material goods come and go. Bond of friendship last forever
• Bond: I fleeced the wrong person once and must work to ensure that this individual never crosses paths with me or those I care about.
• Flaw: I cant resist swindling people who are more powerful than me.
Backstory:
Wallao (Waall OO) has lived his young life on the side lines. Traveling with a troupe of performers he was always the one carrying the hat for tips. He longed to be on the stage. He trained with all the performers, actors, lute players, jugglers, dealers anyone who would let him watch or teach him something he would soak it up. Until the day came for his grand performance. He was put on stage dressed a noble he's never heard of, given a song, he barley had time to learn. Thrust on the stage he gave the performance of his life, and while he was making the audience howl with laughter, his troupe was running the pockets of the audience. When the noble caught wind of the antics he matched his household guard right down to the performance to break it up. Cuffing Wallao about and ending the play Wallao was forced to slink back to his troupe. Only, he learned when we got back that they had ransacked the nobles coffers while he was out beating Wallao about, and the Nobleman, blaming Wallao, place a bounty on his head. The troupe left Wallao, and he ran. Living his life on the streets, using what he learned to hid in plain sight. He created new identities every where he went, gamboling, stealing, conning. What ever he needed for coin. He used his skills to swindle anyone out of a copper for his bread. Wallao was forced to make a life in the same way his troupe had. Wallao the Charlatan Bard.
Hi! I'm really interested in this game! Looking to run an evil character, however I play these in a way that they gel very well even in good parties :) If that's not something you'd like please let me know and I'm happy to change the concept.
My character is Montgomery Sinestrava, 2 paladin and the rest Death Cleric. A worshipper of a god of undeath, Montgomery heard the whispers of the damned when he was a mundane undertaker, urging him to take up a scythe in their name, and spread the word of his lord/lady. Since then, he has tirelessly pursued a world influenced by this god.
Montgomery has a cold voice, with an odd cadence that gives others pause when he speaks. His words are usually grave, and carry an overtone of menace. Despite this, he will more than happily assist others, if only to further the ideals of his god.
I am interested, but don't have a character in mind yet. I will look at the ability rolls and see what inspires me.

I don't mind evil characters up to a point; can def see the kind who does decent things for evil/selfish reasons and maybe even helps the good guys of the party as part of a larger scheme that will cause evil in the end SO LONG AS THAT PLAN WILL TAKE SO LONG TO FULFILL that it won't come to fruition during the time your character associates with the others (e.g. the length of the campaign). And I was certainly seeing this as the grittier of the two threads where such a character would be appropriate.
In the case of this particular character though, the jobs-- especially at first-- will involve a lot of guarding caravans and similar missions through/within the Haunted Lands. That would mean a lot of fighting and either destroying or thwarting the purposes of a lot of undead that your character's god might more naturally want you to support and aid. Not an absolute stopper, but will treat this like other nonstandard cases where you'll need some background reason to be opposing undead -- at least in this particular area. As one poss, perhaps there is a war between two gods of death, and the undead here are on the wrong side? Or whatever you prefer.
Also ought to clarify that asked for planned subclass to begin getting more specific challenges ready as you all hit 2nd/3rd. Starting out at 1st
That is very kind of you for keeping it open DM, is there anything we can do to increase our odds of being chosen for either campaign?
Write character stories as interesting as some of the one I've seen here! :-)
Recruitment will close for this thread at 12 midnight US Eastern time. Anyone who has a placeholder or character in progress post in by then will be considered for the first group; all applications after that will go to the waitlist as long as there's room.
*(Waitlist is separate from the 3 'DMs discretion' slots. Depends how the game's going and how much bandwidth's available in my life & brain, so highly variable -- assume it's open so long as the thread is)

Yeah that's absolutely the goal, I would never do anything to cause actual discord with the party. As for the undead thing, the character sort of perceives undead as a vessel for control, so it would make sense that if he was against them, he wouldn't feel too bad cutting them down as the means justify the ends.
Alternatively perhaps it could be that these undead are mindless, or under the thrall of someone who blasphemed against his god, and as such they are permitted to be slain by their chosen?
how did you find his rouge class and are there others?
