I had an idea for a campaign, and before I go through the trouble of putting it together, I figured I’d check to see if it’s the sort of things players would be interested in.
The general premise of what I’d like to DM: four players play as adventurers who have decided to retire in the city and open a tavern/inn with the riches they’ve accumulated over their campaigns. The story would unfold within the establishment as the heroes interact with patrons and staff. It will be very, VERY roleplay heavy. That’s not to say there won’t ever be combat or exploration, but those will take a backseat to the RP.
As you may have guessed, this campaign idea was inspired by Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree, which I highly recommend checking out.
If there is enough interest, I will work on getting something set up by the new year. Thanks for reading!
I LOVE this idea! I'm already overextended, so the odds I'd be able to play are slim to none but I really think this is an outstanding idea that you should absolutely pursue!
Never heard of Legends & Lattes, but given that this is inspired by it I guess I need to check it out.
PbP is a slower paced version of D&D because there are so many people from so many different time zones that you can only realistically expect everyone to post at least once a day if that. An idea that is roleplay heavy such as this fits this style like a glove. I would love to create a character and then further develop them as a story unfolds such as this, one with plenty of NPCs, staff, patrons, and other denizens who come and go, interacting in a multitude of ways with the players and each other in the tavern/inn.
My interest level is very high and I would like to formally say that I am going to get to work on several ideas for a retired adventurer and hope to see a post in the new year for this excellent game idea you have.
This sounds like a lot of fun! I’ve been looking for a more laidback play by post campaign to try out to give me something to help me learn to relax and not get so anxious when playing D&D and this honestly sounds perfect
Because there does seem to be some interest, I will make a recruitment thread tonight or tomorrow. Once I have chosen players, we will then spend a week or so working on character development (they have had several adventures by this point, of course), and then get started. I'll post a link on this thread once the recruitment thread is live.
Edit to add: we will also spend some time pre-campaign working out details of the inn/tavern, as I want post 1 of the gameplay thread to be the grand opening.

I really enjoyed Legends and Lattes, and just played Flamecraft, which has a delightfully cozy fantasy vibe.
I am very interested in this and would love to apply if you put it together.
