Hello! I am considering running a campaign that should be a combination of the Acquisitions Incoporated and Lairs of Etharis source books. While this combo offers a few challenges, I also think that it offers a lot of opportunities for fun. The Acquisitions Inc content adds HQ / Franchise building and some humor to the Dark and unforgiving world of Etharis as described in the Lairs of Etharis book.
4 or 5 players would either leave waterdeep for etharis to start a new franchise... or they could be natives of etharis recruited by the small group of strange outsiders that recently promised to offer solutions to the nightmares roaming the countryside. not sure which yet. both offer pros and cons...
This is not a recruitment thread but is an interest thread. I am a trying to see if anyone other than me thinks this could be cool and wants to talk about how it would work best. I have been reading up on the Grim Hollow campaign guide (not on dnd beyond) and would try to incorporate as much of that content as I could while keeping it as dnd beyond friendly as possible.
I think it could be a lot of fun but would need to be refined for sure. Once on etharis, I would want them to basically be stuck, while still being able to communicate with head office to get upgraded ranks and house upgrades, even if it was just through occasional shipments of supplies through some kind of magic portal or something.
maybe they are trying to expand and their first mission is to get a portal/ comms set up in etharis. Once we do that we could start to gain the benefits of the head office.
My thought was that may be Omen found a way to Etharis within Sigil. He sends someone "Maybe jim darkmagic" to establish portal for the majordomo and the first underlings to make their way to Etharis from the comfort of the Acquisitions inc HQ in Waterdeep. Jim makes the portal and returns as the Majordomo and the first of the unskilled hirlings make their way to Etharis to acquire a base of operations. Then after Omen hires the party to head through the portal to go to Etharis, something destroys the portal on theEtharis side.
Omen and Jim are the only two that know about the access to Etharis through Sigil and so the party is kind of on their own for a bit outside of the documancer communicating to head office through her documancy. Maybe occasional shipments could be teleported in or retrieved through the living loot satchel, but no real way home or way for reinforcments exists until the players manage to get stronger
I want the players to have the freedom to make any character they want, but also deal with what that may mean in the Etharis / Grimhollow universe
I'm not familiar with the Grim universe at all and know nothing more of A.I. than the name and some vague idea who Jim Darkmantle is from the piecemeal content I've bought individually here on DDB, but you can register a vote of such interest that I immediately want to find out everything about both. This sounds very cool.

I like this idea a lot, I have been looking for a way to play Acquistions Inc.

I am not as familiar with the Grim universe but overall this is a good idea and I know people would love to play in this world. Myself included!
