Thinking about trying my hand at DMing an introductory game in the new year. It would be just a short little play-by-post for brand new players to learn the basics. I have a busy couple of days ahead but, if you're interested, I'll reach out with details around mid-week?
I've given it some thought and here's what I've come up with for campaign pitches. I'm looking forward to getting your feedback.
1) Homebrew Dungeon Crawl: I have a tentative title of Crypt of the Necromancer. This would be a very basic "explore the dungeon" type adventure that I would design. Very light on role-play and very heavy on introducing the basic game mechanics. It would be a short to play through (maybe 2 months?) and would serve as kind of a "boot camp" to get you started before you move on to other games/campaigns.
Pros: short and simple with a clearly defined end point.
Cons: more work for me, no longevity for you
2) Zero to Hero: This is a third-party created campaign and the first one I played in 5e. It's also designed to take people who have never played DnD before and teach them how the system works. It would be a much longer time commitment (playing on discord with an incredibly high post-rate, the campaign took about 5 months). It calls for 4 characters, so we would need to recruit to round out our party.
Pros: longer campaign that ends with a set up for possible future adventures. DM has experience from the player's PoV.
Cons: longer campaign means that it's more likely people will end up dropping out
3) Lost Mines of Phandelver: This is an official product that is also designed as an introductory campaign. It would be the longest of the three and it's not something that I've run or played before.
Pros: this is a pretty common module that many (maybe even most) players have gone through, so in addition to teaching you the game it can provide a bit of a shared experience with the broader community. This is designed for the typical group size of 4-6 characters, so we would also need to recruit to fill out the group.
Cons: This would be the longest time commitment. We'd all be going into things blind. Since this campaign is readily available to the players, there is a concern about someone reading it for themselves and then spoiling things or metagaming their characters.
Anyway...if any of you are still interested please let me know which, if any of these, appeal to you.
I think option 1 would be good just to start out. My only question is if you DM (@groverbloom) we would only have two PCs is that enough? I know we would have 3 if @danielking9545 started replying though.

Since I'm creating it, I would intentionally tailor it to the number of characters and their classes.
PbP id short for "Play by Post". Instead of all the players sitting down at the same time, PbP is more open ended. Players post their characters actions when they can. Essentially, the game is "running" 24-7 but the actual speed of play is much slower than a traditional game. Most PbP's here have a "minimum once a day" posting policy but, in practice, it can vary. Active players might post five or more times a day while others struggle to meet the once a day minimum. Usually a group will tend to balance out somewhere in the middle over time.
Look for threads with the yellow "recruitment" tag. They are either recruiting for new games or adding new players to an existing game. In my experience, most recruiting threads get posted between Friday and Monday.
I think if @groverbloom is DMing and then the other four of us that have been posting so far made a group that would be cool. I do wish @danielking9545 would also reply, but I'm not sure how that is going. Has anyone PMed them?
And if they don't reply would we need to make a new thread so we can close this one? Wouldn't they be the only one who could change the thread type?
Also sorry for the late replies. Since it's the weekend now I should be able to check in on this more. 😊
First D&D experience, looking to find a group to learn with
New to D&D as well. Wouldn't mind chatting and seeing what we can come up with 😊

Happy to learn with y’all. Looking for Lv 1 PC?
If I end up running the thing I plan on, then yes. If you find another DM with a better pitch, it's up to them.
@danielking9545 I believe you decide since you created this post.
Unfortunately I haven't heard from the original poster at all. @BBWolfe2023 and @groverbloom
Hello all! Thanks for your patience!

To answer your question better. If we go with option 1, we could add more people if you wanted, but we certainly wouldn't have to.
Happy to go with option 1. And thanks for the extra work you will do!
Still open, and if so I have a odd sort of request about my character
16 / 16 / 16 Whether first or last, we're all traveling together.
Yall where talking about adding more ppl?
Not sure yet but I'm willing to hear out your request while we're discussing it.
Would anyone mind telling me what pbp is and if their is any campaigns that haven’t been open for months?

Hope at least some of that was useful!

I would definitely creat a new thread regardless.
Sounds good 😊
