"I would feel offended for being called a dropout, but that would mean I would care and that if I was really a dropout." Fazil said calmly, tapping his wand on his spellbook, ready to cast another spell. "By mean, continue to talk. Give me more reasons to end your lives."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Robbery." Dabbert says, reaffirming his stance on the subject. "And you're not representatives of the government, unless one of you has somehow shit the royal family out recently. You're just brigands, doing what brigands do, and we aren't giving you anything. Step aside, or you'll be moved. 5 pounds of food and whatever much in coin will mean little to your corpses."
Dabbert looks ready for violence as he stares down the fellow on horseback.
“I’m afraid that you have another Mageborn to deal with. Leave now, while you still have life in your heart and light in your eyes, and you can still sit your ass on your horse. Otherwise, we will burn you to cinders! Voice, into being!”
Sinak casts guidance to help in his efforts at intimidation.
Though they seem to be unimpressed by Maggwyn and Dabbert, Fazil's mold earth had the leaders men a bit afraid and unsure. That and the fact that this Divine Mage may have commanded a soldier like Dabbert even if his continued attempts were left lacking. Than Sinak had loudly and proudly cast guidance, it was clear they did not know the somatics or the verbals behind the spell as Sinak waved his hands spouting the magic words. This however did leave Eren... a bit nervous seeing three mage born without any purple robes or academy colors. He could not even hide a nervous expression at all this magic. Luckily these highway men could not hide the fear as well.
"Boss... I know the normal ones don't look so tough but... Three mageborn? In ONE caravan!? I mean.. How does that happen?"
The man on horseback looked to Fenton..Fazil and Sinak with a click of his tongue.
"Fine, but I won't forget you all forgetting this tax."
He looks to Dabbert for a long moment than to Maggwyn, Thurbula as well before looking back to the three mageborn.
"Go on ahead for all I care go.. Get outta here."
OOC What do they do~?
If they wish to go ahead Eren will draw the horses to carry onward.
"Think what you want, but I uh...am under the opinion that the world would be a better place with more dead criminals." Dabbert says, stepping back to the rear of the wagon and getting back inside. He matches the mounted brigand's stare as he goes, not giving a single flip if the guy is trying to memorize his face.
“Let’s go Eren…”. Sinak sits back down but points at the man, this leader of brigands on the road, saying “Mark my face, remember it well, all of us, and feel lucky. Lucky that you were able to ride away with your teeth and your senses, your life intact. Do not f&$@ with us….”
Sinak moves his hands as he says this, casting 4 floating, pulsating lights that circle the man’s head and flash light in his face, spinning rapidly around his head in order to disorient him. “Remember…”. Sinak says, as they ride away, after they are beyond 120 feet the lights wink out.
Fazil watches the bandits leave, then repairs the road with a flick of his wand by recasting Mold Earth. Afterward, he loook around and shut his spellbook before putting it away.
"I hope you don't mind me tagging along." He look at Eren, not bother to pull his hood down to show his face.
Maggwyn ignores the troupe as they head out, but they did make sense... three mageborns together in this caravan? That was a lot, and she wondered how that came to be.. if there was some reason behind it or just pure coincidence? But she crawled back into the wagon by Dabbert, the one she knew wasn't a mageborn and eyed the others a bit more suspiciously, the question itching in the back of her mind.
To Fazil, "Probably not, but where are you heading?"
Fazil thinks about what to say before responding, "I'm heading to Emberwood, then later to the capital."
He got into the wagon with everyone inside, waving his wand at where he would sit, "Clean, warm. Set and hold." He cast Prestidigitation to clean the area before sitting down, then warming it up for the next hour.
This man stares them all down, however Dabbert seems to be the prime target in which he is staring. There is no move for violence only a long stare. His stare is cut off by Sinak's speech however he matches his gaze not a word nor a threat only a stare to him. Eren offers Fazil on the wagon as the Bandits simply step aside allowing the caravan to pass. The highway men do not leave the road however and simply await the next wagon to make it by...
Eren however once some distance away (Not so far away they couldn't go back if desired.) He slows the horses down looking to Fazil, it's clear he doesn't feel well about letting a mageborn who won't show his face who isn't wearing the academies colors.
"I err... Could I see you're face? You're not a Malfeast mage... Are ya? Also.. Thank you all... Dabbert you've a tough mettle to ya! Way to show em even us regular folk aren't afraid to fight! HAHA!"
OOC If they don't head back I will probably continue the wagon trip toward Emberwood but feel free to roleplay too!!
"No, I'm not a Malfeast Mage. I left the academy on a good term in search of answers." Fazil pauses for a moment, then sighs. "If it makes you feel better, I did keep my documents on graduating my apprenticeship at the Amethyst Academy. So if you want to check it, then you can. But, for your safety and mine. I will not reveal my face."
Eren may look at the documents but regardless.. By most common folk most mageborn that don't wear the colors any longer or never have are seen as possible loose cannons. Without the the academy watching them such power isn't trusted by the larger populace at large. Though Eren has overlooked the other two, the fact he will not show his face leaves Eren... Nervous still. He will not push the issue and does allow him on the wagon solely based on the fact he had aided with the bandits but he is clearly unnerved by Fazil.
"All right.... Well should we get on going to Emberwood than?"
Fazil took his documents back, knowing it didn't do much. He knew not having any color of the academy would bite him in the butt sooner than he expected. Either way, he is going to stick with this group and just hope for the best.
Maggwyn watches the exchange with light interest. Once it is over, she again starts questioning the newcomer. "Well, yes, we are all heading in that direction, and I know why the rest of us are... to assist with this man and getting his goods to Emberwood. Why are you heading there and then on to the castle?"
She herself finds her curiosity a bit out of character, but this was a journey and she had to occupy herself somehow. Come to think of it, she didn't know much about the others either, 20 questions it is! She muses to herself.
"I uh...doubt that will be the last we see of them." Dabbert remarks as they get moving. He combs his fingers through his hair, massaging something like a tension headache out of his scalp as he takes a breath. "That was a little intense."
Once the cart gets moving, and Dabbert's adrenaline has subsided down to something a little more manageable, he began to listen to the newcomer, Fazil, he thinks, as they get on down the road.
"Well met, Fazil." Dabbert says, though doesn't offer his hand to the newcomer. "Seems our paths crossed at just the right time. If there's one things I've uh...learned out here in the hinterlands of Drakkenheim, it's that there's always strength in numbers. Though, I think the unfortunate fact is that we'll have to be ready for more of such trouble in the future. Or worse."
He leaves the 'or worse' comment at that, making it a point not to engage that topic any further. He was sure the imaginations of his companions could fill in the blanks from there.
"Well done back there, everyone." He adds finally, thinking it merits saying. "It's good to know we have one another's backs if something happens. These roads are uh...treacherous, as I'm sure Eren or Maggwyn will attest.
So what's everyone off to after Emberwood?"
He hear's Fenton's challenge to Fazil, but shrugs it off. Being suspicious of folken you met on the road wasn't necessarily a bad attribute.
"Mainly to restock on stuff, and as Mageborn, you should know all of us have quirks we're born with. Mine happen to be one where I gain visions while I sleep." Fazil let out a frustrated sigh. "Along with nightmares. It's why I'm traveling to the capital, while Emberwood just happens to be nearby for me to gather more information. And seeing as I've told everyone my Mageborn's quirk. What's yours?" He looks at the other Mageborn, then looks at Fenton. "Do you honestly think I would need to pay servants to do my bidding? As a Wizard, there are many more things I could do myself than those that can't, let alone those bandits that can't use magic. I'm not going to bother trying to gain your trust."
"No offense, but you did just appear out of know where when the bandits showed up. Well at least you helped scare them off. I am Fenton Ravenclaw, and well I guess my mageborn quirk is my eyes"
You notice his eyes are a mix of light brown with golden swirls, they give of the appearance of a soft glow.
"I am not your typical mageborn, the sacred flame seemed to bless me with divine powers"
"Lucky you." Fazil leans into his seat. "And I did mention seeing visions; that was one of them. Seeing the bandit around these areas leading to Emberwood. I didn't expect to appear at the moment before the fight began, or a fight was going to begin. Also, Fazil Grandbreaker is my name, nice to meet you."
"Hopefully you mean Drakkenheim and not castle Drakken, with the Deep Haze anyone that tries to come close ends up dead.
Eren chuckles as he nods to Dabbert.
"Yeah but Dabbert and Maggwyn are tough customers! So I know I'm fine."
Eren seems even more at unease at Fazil's comment it seems either he is ignorant or what Fazil is experiencing isn't something exactly normal. When Fazil adds he won't bother garnering their trust alarm bells ring in Eren's eyes. He almost seems a hairs breath away from asking his guards to remove the loose cannon mageborn but for now... He continues to take his gamble but it's clear only because of those he's come to trust in the caravan.
"I gotta say.. Drakkenheim does attract the oddest treasure seekers. Again thank you all for this supply run, crops and food don't grow right around here anymore so we rely on outside trade for food. Luckily with the Delirium selling and magic items on the rise... Embertown has turned into a little boom town."
OOC When they are done conversing I'll change the scene to a few days ahead on the path ^^
