Daestra looks on at the house in pure shock of what he is seeing, how did this manor get to be this bad off in the first place? He thinks to himself but decides to follow Ravna toward the door to the house.
They can hear from the otherside of the door a soft and feminine voice, one however that is attempting to put a bit of bass in her voice.
"Who goes there?! I'm not expecting anyone.. so.. you can go."
There is a silence for a moment (Save for whatever the party says in response) before a familiar voice is heard.
"Ireena.. It's most likely my friends from the tavern."
There is a bit of shoving and bickering before the door is opened. First and foremost can be seen is Mordred but behind him is a woman.
Her skin pale, her hair is a rather unnatural pink. She seems to be wearing breastplate with a rapier by her side. A strange pink flower in her hair as well. She seems to be hiding behind Mordred and further behind her in the residence is Salem.
The interior of the mansion is well furnished, yet the fixtures show signs of great wear. Noticeable oddities are the boarded-up windows and the presence of holy symbols in every room. The burgomaster is in a side drawing room on the floor—lying in a simple wooden coffin surrounded by wilting flowers and a faint odor of decay.
"Come in, Ireena these are the ones I told you about."
"Wait.. you guys stuck up to Bildrath!? Even though he's the only merchant in town? WOW! You guys are really brave.. and selfless too! Thank you... a lot. Mordred always thinks he deserves Bildrath's words but that's just.. Well stupid as hell! UGH! Mordred can be a really dummy! I'm glad you were all in that tavern. I heard even Salem lost his cool, I never see him get upset haha!"
Ireena gestures for them to come in as she looks over their gear and equipment. She circles around Lucian and Daestra the longest.
"Wow... Elves and Mordred said... That the one called Daestra is from beyond the mist! That's... amazing! I wonder what kinda fighting styles ya know away from Barovia! And Lucian.. Wow elves are pretty! Man when I'm an old bag of bones you guys will still look hot that isn't fair I-"
Mordred had softly than flicked her on the shoulder. His face turns to a somber smile looking her way.
"You try too hard, I know you're happy to see outsiders but.. You don't gotta force it. They know our father has just passed away. I've even more good news I forgot to relay Ireena they agreed to help me take you to Vallaki."
"..H-Huh..? But... the people here are suffering... Were... were leaving them? You didn't tell me were leaving..."
"We have to Ireena, the lord has already sought you out twice. You know it isn't safe here anymore."
""B-But... these are... our people.."
The woman looks down a bit sheepish gripping her fist as her shoulders and body begins to tremble and a hint of something else.. Something hard to make out lies in her eyes and body language.
Ravna enters the building and gives Ireena a polite bow. She also inclines her head towards the coffin of the deceased burgomaster, and mutters a small payer under her breath. The white haired woman is a bit caught off guard by Ireena's attitude. It's definitely not what she'd expected based off Mordred or the families current circumstances. She briefly eyes Salem before speaking to Mordred and Ireena. "Your brother is right. We will be accompanying you to Vallaki. I know it's hard to leave knowing the plight of this town, but believe me Barovia is no stranger to suffering. Those who have the will to fight will do so and those who don't will scratch by on what little hope they have." She pauses for a moment, knowing full well that her words don't sound all that reassuring. "I know this may be hard to swallow, but with Strahd taking an interest in you, perhaps your leaving here will take a strain off the people."She gives the pink-haired girl a small smile. "It should take some strain off of you as well. Vallaki is the safest place this land has to offer, moving there will give you time to regain your strength. Once you have, you will be in a better position to face the dark lord and deliver yourself and your people from his tyranny." Her deep, rich voice rises as her speech continues. Her red eyes glittering as she looses herself in fantasies about the future, and her own destiny.
As Ireena circles him, Lucian does his best not to make himself look smaller by scrunching up his shoulder's and ducking his head. He only partially succeeds, occupying half of his attention by running his thumb up and down the chain around his neck as an outlet for some of his nervousness.
"H...Huh?" He stammers, and his face goes red... or a deep purple-red due to the color of his skin... as he blushes in embarrassment due to Ireena's words. He takes an inadvertent step backwards and looks at her with wide eyes. Additionally, his hands move upward and grasp his silver-white hair as if to hide his pointed ears... not that it would hide his skin tone but... Well he really doesn't know how to react to what he just heard, and all he can feel currently is extreme embarrassment.
He's still blushing furiously when Mordred and Ravna begin speaking, and he does his best to avert his eyes... keeping them fixed on the floor instead of anyone else.
As Mordred greets the group Daestra offers a handshake to Mordred and Ireena
“Good to see you again Mordred, interesting place you have here.” As he looks around rather wide-eyed at the place
“And hello to you Ireena it is nice to meet you, I understand right now is a hard time for you both with the Burgomaster having passed away, my condolences, I do hope we can be of some service in helping you get to Vallaki.”
Daestra steps over to the coffin to bow in respect of the fallen Burgomaster and heads back to stand with Lucian and Ravna.
OOC Oh man I love these post! Ravna right on the money on Ireena's attitude going along with Mordred's telling Ireena she is trying to hard to keep face.
Lucian too made me giggle and Daestra playing the straight man I love the team dynamic.
Kirai should be able to post today so I shall wait for that, they were sick for a LONG time but finally feeling better ^^
Salem looked towards the door as everyone entered. His familiar had decided to hide itself in his hair as unfamiliar people came about. His eyes moved slowly to Ireena as she spoke. He didn't give her a look of friendship like he did Mordred. He had known Mordred much longer. His eyes didn't stay on her long as he shifted to looking back towards the group. It appeared Mordred hadn't told her that they were leaving. Why had he been so slow on that he wondered? Maybe because he had just now found all these people to help him? It wasn't like he really cared about the fact that she was surprised though. This was the best option. She had to be moved. It would be for the best in the end. For the best for himself anyway. At least he hoped. The only other alternative... He didn't want to think about that one. That had been his first idea, but he hadn't expected to grow close to anyone here. Now that he was close to Mordred his first plan had become null and void.
"I didn't mean to get upset. I was just simply saying my thoughts on the matter."
Though he spoke to Ireena he didn't give her another glance and it seemed more matter of fact instead of like he knew her or was friends with her. He had to admit this girl's energy wore him out. She was just way too damned excitable.
He looked to Ravna as she spoke. He highly doubted the strain on the people would stop. They had made a mistake and they would pay for it. Pretty words to just get Ireena to get moving he was sure. The only reason he thought Vallaki would be the best alternative was because of the church. If she was placed there... Then the problem was sort of solved. Once it was solved he could go back home and he wouldn't have to worry about her anymore. If she was unreachable then life could go back to normal.
Ravna was exactly right in Ireena's attitude. Her coming to that makes Mordred.. "You don't have to try so hard." Toward her click a bit more. Though it wasn't as if she was faking all of her joy there is some true excitement to see outsiders. Ireena giggles lightly as Lucian hides his face.
"Ahh he's adorable!"
However she looks to Ravna and the conversation.. Takes a more serious tone.
Me leaving... helps them... I'm my fathers daughter.. Abandoning them... Because I'm some sorta curse that draws the vampire...
She isn't saying that. only that we regroup at Vallaki and find a way to fight. Of a way.. I do not know not yet anyway.
Mordred and Ireena both give a somber smile as Daestra and the others pay respect to the late burgomeister. Ireena nods walking beside him.
"Thank you.. My father was a friend to the elves here in the valley.. I've never met any till you two. He told me of two... Kasimir and Vilmar. My father would have liked to have met you Daestra."
Ireena tilted her head to Salem and smiled as Mordred placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't worry Salem, you've been kind to my brother when the village hasn't and that means a lot to me truly! You're a good man I know father would have liked you as well. And while Mordred means well.. well... On that note I need to have a small talk with Mordred actually."
"I... I understand... Do just recall Ravna's words while we have this "talk" dear sister."
And with that they head to the other room.
The murmurs from the next room are largely indistinct, obscured by the low groans of the old house's timbers.

They can make either a stealth check or a perception check.. to hear the talk if they wish. Here's the catch...
Stealth is only a DC 11
And perception is a stronger DC 15.
However if you are caught in stealth they will notice you. If you're perception fails they won't notice a thing you just won't hear.
You must focus you're efforts on one or the other.
Of course they can simply choose to sit by and wait and not listen at all this too is an option ^^
And I hope I was able to respond to everyone well enough ~
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Lucian all but zones out, clearly not used to so much attention... Until he hears some familiar names, and perks up a bit. He's still as nervous as ever, but he manages to say, "H...he knew Vilmar and K...Kasimir?" He ducks his head for a moment, not really sure where he was going with that question... Of course he would know them, why else would Kasimir have sent him here if he didn't have ties to this place? He fidgets for a moment, falling back into silence as the others talk.
Once Mordred and Ireena head off to speak in private, Lucian takes up a position near a corner--close to the exit, as was his habit. Eavesdropping really isn't something he likes doing, but... well, sometimes he can't help but pick up words here and there. He does his best to drown out the sounds of voices coming from the other room, but ultimately finds himself trying to pick out words if he can understand them.
Perception: 17
If in the event that he manages to hear anything that sounds... a little too personal or sensitive, he'll visibly flinch and cover his ears in shock--doing his best to keep himself from listening further.
Glad Mordred understood her words and reassured his sister of their meaning, Ravna watches as the two move out to speak alone. The paladin has no intention of eavesdropping on a private conversation.
After the door closes behind Mordred and Ireena, Ravna turns to Salem. She's still not sure what to think of this quiet man. "Salem was it? You don't strike me as someone originally from this town. May I ask what your relation to Mordred is? How long have you known each other?"She is careful to speak as if prompting a normal conversation. After all, she has no reason to be suspicious of Salem, however she is genuinely curious about his origins.
As Ireena tells Daestra that her father would have loved to have met him he smiles and nods to Ireena “And I to would’ve been honored to have met your father, he seems like he was a great man by the way you speak of him.”
As Mordred and Ireena walk into the other room to speak personally, Daestra finds a chair to sit down in while they wait as he doesn’t want to pry into the business of the two who have welcomed them into their home.
Salem looked to Mordred as a hand was placed on his shoulder. He seemed to accept this though he did seem like a person who didn't really like to be touched randomly. He was close to Mordred though and he wasn't a stranger to him. He offered a rare and small smile. He looked to Ireena and listened as she spoke. She was always so nice to him. Sometimes he wished that she wasn't. It really made him think differently of her. It made him want to connect with her. As they left the room he tried to listen to what was said, but he couldn't hear them. Ah well. Maybe it was best that he didn't hear them. Hearing his name he quickly looked to Ravna.
"Yes Salem is my name. Ah no I'm not from this town. Oh me and Mordred are friends. I like to come down and sit in the tavern to read. It's usually quiet there, but he started talking to me. I've known him for about a month I believe."
Though he answered it was clear he was nervous talking to someone new, but he didn't seem reluctant in offering up the information about Mordred and himself. He didn't seem too interested in talking about where he was from, but he was being honest about not being from this town.
Ireena and Mordred return after some talking and muffled noises. (If they wish they can roll a DC12 insight check to see how they are feeling but not required.)
The two return and Ireena offers a soft smile to them.
"While I wish Mordred had given me more of a warning that he was taking me to a faraway church in Vallaki... I have agreed. Except.. he has to help me bury our father."
"Yes... you may all stay here tonight. Although.. The coffin is rather heavy, and though we have a priest.. having you Ravna would bring father peace. He was a very religious man. I would.. Invite you all if you would so desire. If not however you may stay here at the manor of course."
Daestra nods in agreement “I would be honored to attend, I think your father would appreciate the send off. I can assist with carrying the coffin if necessary, I wouldn’t want anyone to hurt themselves trying to move the thing”
OOC All those who want to assist with the coffin may do so ^^ It will take an athletics check.

Ravna nods to Salem's response. Seeing his reluctance to speak with her, she refrains from pushing for more answers. A month doesn't seem like all that much time, especially considering how close those two seem to act. She certainly wouldn't be taking advice from a man she only knew for a month, at least not on anything serious such as running a town, and especially not without a third party to run those ideas past as well. However, the man seems genuine, and given Mordred's circumstance and the way the townsfolk view him, he's lucky to have found a friend.
She turns her attention back to Mordred when he and his sister return to the group. "Of course, I will be honored to attend." She replies, "I am willing to aid in carrying him to his resting place as well."

"Uh... sh...shure," Lucian says, feeling a little awkward about attending the funeral of the father of a person he just met, but... well apparently the guy knew Vilmar and Kasimir, so he kind of owes it to them right?
