Sage words for the living perhaps, but now that you’re dead (or undead, that is) revenge is the air you breathe, the liquor you drink, and the path beneath your feet. With a restless fury and an unswerving focus, you now hunt the ones who played a role, however great or small, in your cruel demise. Never needing to pause for sleep or food, and wholly certain of your destination, you begin to close the gap on your unsuspecting prey…

Greetings, fellow play-by-posters!
This will be a slightly out-of-the-ordinary adventure in two respects: you will be the only player, and your character will be a revenant. The storyline will be rooted almost entirely in your character’s single-minded pursuit of revenge, and we will utilize the rule about variant revenants with spells and weapons in Monster Manual (p. 259): Revenants that were spellcasters before they died might retain some or all of their spellcasting capabilities. Similarly, revenants that wore armor and wielded weapons in life might continue to do so.
Your character will also possess these revenant abilities and features (as explained in MM):
Armor class, hit points, speed, proficiency bonus, and saving throws will be determined by your character's race, class, ability scores, level, and equipment. To reflect the rather powerful stat block of a revenant, characters will be built upon these starting ability scores (17, 16, 16, 15, 14, 13) and begin at level 12. If this idea appeals to you, then, in this thread, submit the following five pieces of information (a complete character sheet is not yet necessary):
Character name:
Character race: any in PHB or MotM is acceptable
Class(es) and subclass(es); anything official is acceptable; multiclassing is also acceptable
Magic items: one rare and one uncommon that your character had in possession when murdered
Backstory (a sentence or two for each of the following):
Who? Provide the identities of those responsible (or those your character thinks are responsible) for his/her/their undeserving death.
Why? Explain your character’s suspicions about the motivation of the murderers.
How? Explain what your character knows about how the murder was carried out.
Where? Provide a specific location anywhere in Faerun for the place of your character’s murder.
I’m making this a small recruitment window because I need only one player; so, I will close this thread after six people have submitted a character concept. Let me know if you have any questions.
Magic items: one rare:Belt of hill giant strength; one uncommon: Wraps of unarmed prowess +1
Backstory (a sentence or two for each of the following):
Who? Those never-to-be_sufficiently-damned Order of the Gauntlet! I will erase their kind from life!
Why? Kurr Von get too powerful, united goblin clans to attack Helm's Hold. Order peeing their metal pants.
How? Order send adventurers to wipe out Cragmaw tribe, then sent shiny bucketheads to kill Gob Boss in his sleep-only way to kill Kurr Von!
Where? Wave Echo Cave, (near Neverwinter and Phandelver/Phandalin) They murdered me in my sleep! Filthy cowards! *Build assumes PC will have Revenant Fist attack
Class(es) and subclass(es); Warlock 7 (The Fiend) / Sorcerer 5 (See Inquiry in PM)
Magic items: (uncommon) Cloak of Protection, (rare) Ring of Radiant Resistance
Backstory (a sentence or two for each of the following):
Who? My closest friend and ardent research partner, Albion, why? Why, when were so close to our goal?!
Why? No, I know why -- our Hellspring. You want the souls for yourself, you bastard!
How? Of all things, burning me?! And with our own Hellfire no less!
Where? But what a fool you are to forget why we chose the Lhespenbog of all places. The gasses of such a hellish marsh proved quick to extinguish your paltry attempts, giving me time to contact our old benefactor, and negotiate a new deal...
Class(es) and subclass(es); Artificer 4 Artillerist / 8 Wizard Necromany
Magic items: one rare and one uncommon that your character had in possession when murdered. Serpantine Scale armor (Uncommon) and Cloak of Protection elven (Rare)
Backstory (a sentence or two for each of the following):
Who? Provide the identities of those responsible (or those your character thinks are responsible) for his/her/their undeserving death. As a necromancer his craft is looked down upon. His business partner Hyde Megdus he believes put a contract on him to get him out of the way and take the stigma of his craft off the business so it might do better.
Why? See above.
How? While out scouting for additional supplies in a new town he was waylaid at night by surprise and probably an assassin from how it went down.
Where? Provide a specific location anywhere in Faerun for the place of your character’s murder. Outside Phandelver on the road towards a Keep.
