Weaver and the rest of the Party who goes follow behind Aurora are led into the Firejolt cafe. The Firejolt Café is the most popular place at Strixhaven to grab tea or coffee, chat with friends, or study among the hustle and bustle of a typical day on campus. The café’s interior is clean and well lit, and its walls are decorated with fun, cartoonish scenes animated by permanent illusion magic. Well-known scenes include a jovial frog in a wizard’s hat stirring a cauldron, a dancing trio of lightning bolts with grinning faces, and a raven wearing a cravat and sipping daintily from a cup of coffee held in one wing.
Map of the Cafe:
Aurora leads you to the Fireside Lounge, area F5. The air buzzes with excitement—and the smell of coffee—as you make your way toward the back of Firejolt Café and duck into the lounge to witness the scene.
Hidden from the view of the barista station, the lounge’s central table has been pushed toward the wall and its chairs haphazardly tossed out of the way. In the middle of the room hop four unusual frogs. Each is glowing in vibrant colors—red, blue, violet, and orange—and has been outfitted with a tiny costume. One wears a makeshift cape, another has suspenders, a third wears a stylish bow tie, and the fourth has a top hat perched jauntily on its head.
Someone has used chalk to mark lanes on the floor, and multiple students are trying to corral the frogs into a starting position. “were just in time! We should coach one of these frogs!”
Who would like to coach a frog to the finish? the prize is bragging rights and 30 GP.

Hi, I'm Raccoon_Master,The Rocket Raccoon/Trashcan Tactician (as appointed by Drummer). Pronouns They/Them/Theirs.
My Characters: Brorminthe Crusher; Discoverythe Keeper; Theathe Scoundrel; Jorvirthe Weaver; Threlan,the Speaker; Zolyathe Inspired; Penley the Devourer;
Ooboron gets up to follow behind the others. He juggles and drops one of the two books he has with him. It slides a little along the polished floor before he's able to scoop it back up into his thick arms. He is curious about the frogs, but worried about Aurora's mentioning of teachers. Was this against the rules? He doesn't remember hearing anything specifically about not racing frogs, but that doesn't mean it wasn't said. Once he sees the frogs, his delight overshadows his worry. What fun! He smiles at Weaver as she picks out the one with the top hat. "How do you coach a frog?" he asks the fairy.
Weaver looks up at Ooby with a big grin. "I have no idea! These frogs might already know how to race, I mean look at those suspenders and that top hat - these are some dapper amphibians! I was just planning to say kind, nurturing things to mine, maybe whisper a poem like 'Roses are red, violets are blue, frogs that lose are made into glue', or something like that, what do you think?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The frogs ribbit and hop around. Weaver's is a bit distressed as she crushes it in a hug, but soon it is time to start. In the race, we have:
Theo, coaching Suspenders; Weaver, coaching Top Hat; Aurora, coaching Cape; & Grayson, yes, Grayson is here, coaching Bow Tie.
I want Theo and Weaver to make animal handling checks to coach their frog to the finish. I would also like you to give some personality to your frogs, and describe the things ypu do to coax the frogs.
Grayson's check: 3
Aurora's check: 20
Any bystanders can cheer on a coach of their choice, giving them advantage on their check. If you want to cheer a coach, just say so. You can also heckle a coach, giving them disadvantage.

My Characters: Brorminthe Crusher; Discoverythe Keeper; Theathe Scoundrel; Jorvirthe Weaver; Threlan,the Speaker; Zolyathe Inspired; Penley the Devourer;
Ooboron grins and snickers at Weaver's poem. When he overhears Theo speaking to his frog, his grin falters, and he begins to get worried. This also spills over to color what he thought was a joke from Weaver, but is perhaps more ominous. He begins to fear for the fancy little frogs. He leans in closer to Weaver's ear. "What does happen to the losers?"
Afraid for all of the frogs, Ooboron doesn't cheer or heckle any of the coaches. He considers creating some kind of diversion as the race ends to provide time for the frogs to escape, but then his experience with frogs tells him it's likely they wouldn't go anywhere, and his spectacle would all be for nothing. He lifts his books to half hide behind them as the race takes place.
Weaver looks up at Ooby. "I have no idea," she admits. "I can't imagine it'd be anything bad, though. I heard this one story about a prince who was actually a frog, and then he kissed this other frog, and she became a princess... I think that's how it goes. Anyways, some of these frogs could be landed aristocracy, so obviously we have to treat them nicely!" She flashes a big grin at the worried Loxodon and returns to coaching her frog.
"Now, pace yourself, and if your hat flies off, don't be afraid to let your hair flow in the wind - it'll be that much more intimidating for the other frogs!" She leans in for a whisper. "And if you are a prince, here's a kiss for good luck, your highness!"
Venrys watches the frog races with amusement. Seeing that Theo's frog seems to be lagging behind, he cheers. "Go, noble frog! Show us what you're made of!"
Elsenia thoroughly enjoys her first day of classes. After a surprisingly restful night, she feels refreshed and ready to learn. Her fellow students even seem curious and interested in her, and they don't even seem to mind that she is less experienced in the art of social graces. She feels hopeful that she has fostered the seeds of many new friendships.

Elsenia spots Aurora. She waves her over, talking about some outlandish thing called frog racing. Did she hear the vampire correctly? Bemused, Elsenia follows her into the cafe, smiling at the charming illusion scenes on the walls as always. When she sees the frogs dressed in their cute little outfits and hats, the druid lets out a squeal before she can quite contain herself.
She has arrived too late to race a frog herself though. Thoroughly disappointed, she nevertheless manages to cheer up a bit as she cheers on Theo and Weaver's frogs.

Elsenia's first day goes great, and by the end she has a few people who have made offers to hang out. Her teachers are not particularly impressed, but think she deserves a little merit considering she made it all the way here and passed the entrance exams despite being from a Shadowfell tribe.
Aurora gives Elsenia a smile, and seems to mellow out a bit when she arrives. It could have been jitters the first day, but know Elsenia is sure: Aurora is acting weird around her.
Both Aurora and Weaver are great at coaching their frogs, though Weaver is beat out in the end as she had to adjust her tactics to do it. Theo does less well, but is more succesful than Grayson, who is frustratedly yelling at his frog, Bow Tie, who refuses to move. As Grayson gets redder and redder in the face, the frog whips out his tongue and gives him a big slimy lick right on the face. Grayson is so red he's practically on fire. He looks around, his face burning, and yells a bit too loudly "WHAT ARE YOU ALL LOOKING AT?!".
This causes the owner of the cafe, an elven woman named Ellina, who is known for her fiery magic and fierier temper, comes barging in. "What is going on here? Are those frogs? In my cafe? Get them out" no one moves, after a second she yells, though not as angrily as Grayson's outburst "Get the frogs out!" and she points to the door, staring everyone down with her intense gaze.

Weaver's story about frog royalty seems to at first confuse Ooboron more than anything, but then he settles into hoping that everything will be OK. He does cheer a little as the race concludes. He gives Weaver a grin of condolence. But when Grayson yells, it catches the loxodon completely off guard, and Ooboron jumps, letting out a little trumpet of surprise. His ears flatten to the sides of his head, and his body shrinks, except for his eyes, which are huge. On top of that, when the café owner appears and starts fussing as well, Ooboron hurries after the others as they head outside. He watches with worried eyes as Weaver re-enters, not ready to follow her. He looks at Theo, and as their eyes meet, Ooboron begins to grin and then chuckles shyly. That was crazy!
