You overhear a fishmonger talking to a patron about a Reclaimer ship he saw arrive in at port last night. "...dunno what they want 'round here but it gives me goose pimples to imagine the thought'a them and all that toyin' with nature they does..."
The patron waves away the concern as she examines a fish. "Prob'ly just passin' through... stoppin' off at port for some hash and whores before they sail off to some other strange parts... Now, how much is this carp? And whatever yer' about to say go on ahead and cut it in half, cause I got no time for any bullshit..."

Pal will approach the two,"Er... Excuse me. I was walking by and I heard you say something about a Reclaimer ship. N-not that I was eavesdropping or anything! I just overheard it... Uh... After your fine wares caught my eye! Yes, such fine fish." Presumably Pal is being either ignored or glared at by this point and so he'll clear his throat and continue, "Would you happen to remember the name of the ship? Or perhaps which pier they were docked at? I'm asking for a friend. Er... Not him-"Indicating Nib as he speaks,"A different friend! More of an acquaintance really. Actually, someone I just met. He uh... crashed his boat and uh... vegepygmies... er... made a house out of his... uh... torso..."Pal will trail off at this point, embarrassed and awaiting a response to his questions.
The fish monger looks you up and down, sniffs and keeps his distance from you as if worried he'll catch something. "Won't be able to miss it. Huge cog with the symbol of the movement across the main sail. Skinless man surrounded by stars." Suddenly his lip curls in a smirk. "I'm sure they'd really like to meet an interesting feller like yourself."
As he says this, the patron snorts in amusement, handing the monger some coins in exchange for the fish.

As Pal is talking to the pair, Nib is looking over the table, taking in what is said in the background, but looking for anything…useful. He does not draw attention to himself, he tries to melt into the background, remaining silent.
Pal's eyes will light up when the man says he's sure the Reclaimers would like to meet him, "Really? You think so? I guess I am pretty inter-uh... uninterested in meeting them! Who cares what a Reclaimer thinks, not us, right Nib?" Pal will turn to his friend and nod his head, encouraging him to agree. Pal will turn and thank the fishmonger then walk out of earshot from them before excitedly whispering to Nib, "Did you hear that!? Not only is there a Reclaimer vessel in Seamew right now, but they're interested in meeting me! Wow! It's really happening Nib! Our quest to find the lost magic is finally happening!" Pal will be riding a wave of deluded grandeur and fantasizing about his noble quest as they continue on their way through the settlement.
As Pal is talking to the pair, Nib is looking over the table, taking in what is said in the background, but looking for anything…useful.
The merchant Pal is talking to doesn't seem to have anything to sell other than 31 flavors of fish... But... As Nib looks things over, his gaze shifts from the barrel of herring to a flustered dwarven merchant at the stall beyond. From the looks of it, most of his wares are salvaged items abandoned by travelers whose fate you're better off not thinking about too clearly.
The wares are in various states of repair, organized in haphazard piles with very little apparent rhyme or reason. At first glance he spots:
A bullseye lantern
An incense censer
A bell
A grappling hook
A hand drum
A deck of playing cards
An ornate tinderbox
A steel mirror
A 50' coil of silk rope
Woodcarver tools
The merchant himself is distracted, loudly arguing with his wife about how to price a particularly ugly oil lamp. If Nib wanted to... relieve... the merchant of some of his clutter, now would be a good time...

Nib’s hand waits until the proper time, as the merchant is arguing with his wife and raises his voice, distracted, he takes the opportunity. He grabs the bullseye lantern and quickly stows it away, then turn and casually walks down the aisles, looking for what others have to sell. He takes his time, fingering this and that, but finally comes to a different merchant who happens to be selling flasks of oil for a lamp, and he purchases one, storing it in his pack. Then he wanders back around, keeping his eye on Pal the whole time, and then arrives in front of him. “There you are! I wondered where you got off to! Hey, I’ve had a look around, didn’t really see much I liked. Let’s see if we can head on, maybe find a passage toward Seamew, eh? Whatcha think? Do you need anything, my Pal?” Nib smiles at him, glad to be adventuring with his friend. Quietly, to himself, he thinks “I did it! Wooo hooo! My first score! I’ll polish that thing up and use it here forward! And no one the wiser!” Nib has a self satisfied smile on his face…
After nearly an hour of awkwardly exploring the tent settlement for someone to ask about securing passage across the estuary, Pal hears a voice call out to him from the shore.
"Oy, rabbit! Stop bobbin around, ye make me nervous!" Pal turns to see a salty looking human woman with smooth, dark skin, bright green eyes and bleached white hair died pink. She's busy untethering her keelboat from the settlement's makeshift dock, tossing the thick hempen rope aboard as she uncoils it from the mooring.
"What ye walkin back and forth lookin for that ye didn't see the last eight times ye crossed by?" She asks, then gestures towards the distant buildings of Seamew. "S'pose yer lookin for a way across. That it?"
