Posting to see what kind of interest or questions I get from any players on my homebrew world. Which starting area appeals to you the most?
Eothia is a world which is shrouded in mystery. Mystery breeds competition which results in a dangerous, hostile environment filled with individuals who are constantly striving for more. It is a world of risk and reward where those who grow comfortable, quickly fall behind. A lot of Eothia is regarded as undiscovered, as each city or major area is only on the frontier stage of discovery. Many colonies or cultures are aware that others may exist, but due to the untamed lands of Eothia, most elect to focus on their own development than create connections. The development of Arcaneology is the tip of the spear regarding Eothia’s path into the future, allowing only artificers with the highest tier of skill to develop technology which attempts to harness arcane power. No matter what you uncover in Eothia, no matter how strong or successful you think you are, it only leads to more pathways and open possibilities.
Playable races and classes include any from official source books, or unearthed arcana.
Starting areas include: The Foggy Isles, The Dead Zone or The Cold Coast.
The Foggy Isles.
A number of spits of land all clustered together at the base of the Kraken Sea. A mysterious, suffocating fog is constantly present and is the believed to be the cause of numerous cases of missing people and even entire crews. Crime is prevalent, as the cover of fog is the perfect blanket for escape.
The Dead Zone.
Many people believe that life simply cannot exist out in the dunes of the Dead Zone. It is a barren desert of sand and sun, offering no escape from the oppressive heat. Monolithic creatures roam the desert in a slow search for a way out and lost wanderers end up being consumed by dust storms… Or worse.
The Cold Coast.
Simple living here is hard. Crops hardly grow due to the cold, livestock struggles to survive and an oppressive ruler has a stranglehold over the land. Thick, ominous woods stand between travel to the south and cold, icy waters greet any travel to the north. To make things worse, rumours have risen that the dead is not resting.
Real Talk: This is a mash up of forgotten realms, taking heavy influences from Eberron and early steampunk settings, with a touch of Dark Sun.
Influences: League of Legends, Hunter x Hunter, Gothic, Wild West, Avatar, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Final Fantasy, Mad Max, Afro Samurai
I have to say, I'm already playing in a campaign of yours, but I certainly wouldn't mind giving this setting a go. All of the starting areas have their appeal, but I think I'd most like to try starting in (or near) the deserts of the Dead Zone.

I'd love to join your campaign -- and playing in all THREE zones sounds awesome! I offer up Yasei no ōkiddo ("Wild Orchid"), a Samurai fighter (ala Xanathars).
Her father is Shōgun Ashikaga (of the Ashikaga shogunate, 1336–1573), an extremely wealth noble family, but the only daughter amongst 6 brothers (hahahaahaha, the "7th Samurai!"). Yasei grew up around her brothers, as a tomboy. She always yearned to become a samurai, but because of cultural norms, she was destined to be a geisha, much to her chagrin. Another shogunate attacked her family, and in the midst of the major battle, Yasei witnessed her eldest brother captured by the enemy, and were about to behead him. She quickly scrambled out from her hidden cover, grabbed her brothers katana, and sliced off the hands of her brother's attacker, saving her brother.
Her saving her brother actually backfired. This prevented her brother from seeing an honorable death. This brought HUGE dishonor to her and her family, so she was shunned. Her family disowned her, and kicked her out at the tender young age of 16. Thus, we find her at the start of the campaign as a sad, lonely rich girl with no family name to live by any more. She's rōnin, seeking to reclaim her family name, and be recognized as honorable by her brothers again.
Got a Bard-pirate for the Foggy Isles, a wasteland Monk for the Dead Zone, and a Storm priestess for the Cold Coast. Will refine them as we get more info.
Keep in mind if I run a campaign in this world, you will be starting level 1, and may go thru to 20. Therefore your character's backstory can either fit the world or not have one at all! This is a different world than the forgotten realms, so backstories may need to adapt somewhat.
I would certainly be interested! All of the locations sound really cool, but I'm partial to the Dead Zone, then Cold Coast, and then Foggy Isles.
I've got a Cleric that would be good for the Cold Coast. I'd be interested in being a Sorcerer or fighter for the Dead Zone. Maybe something I haven't tried yet for the Foggy isles.
I'm picturing that the Dead Zone and Cold Coast could be especially good if you added some survival aspects, the environment and weather being as much of a danger as the monsters. The Foggy Isles would be more of your sail around and hoping to find something, though I always like the idea of having a party ship as base.
I've got character ideas for them all but would lean towards Cold Coast as I always really like the mountain/forest/tundra biomes and have a ranger character that wuld fit perfectly into it. Picturing a 'The Hateful Eight' esque starting meet up.

Hmm...very intriguing...

Yeah, I won't kick anything off until I finish Ishassara, of course. Seeing which starting area has the most interest.
You will find out more detailed info, de-mystifying the area once you pick it :)
"CoS" Rumble- Tabaxi Shadow Monk
Well, definitely keep me in mind for this one. Already got some character ideas circulating in my head for each of the possible areas.
Update: Considering offering homebrew backgrounds for certain starting areas, too.
"CoS" Rumble- Tabaxi Shadow Monk
Hmm, sounds interesting... I'd be interested in playing a Bard or Monk from the Cold Coast, if there is room. :)
(If it's possible I'd love to be a Nen user... )
After Apocalypse - Liavyre Withrethin Elf Ranger
Dragon of Autumn - Geoff Krowly Human Cleric
Princes of the Apocalypse - Leofir Sylvaranth Elf Rogue
The Windhovers' Call - Xellos Mazoku Tiefling Sorcerer
High Times at Low Tides - DM
I think I like the Cold Coast area best, though I wouldn't say no to an opportunity to You wa Shock in the Dead Zone.
Well, of course, i'm in. I could have tons of fun in this setting, whichever you pick.
Buckle up for an older, darker Crispy, if you pick me.
Sounds interesting.
The Foggy Isles sound fun. Seems it would be a sort of island hopping campaign, which I'm always up for. A literal Sea of Thieves.
The Dead Zone sounds very interesting, lots to uncover.
The Cold Coast would be in my favourite environment, although undead are not my favourite enemies.
I think overall my first choice would be the Foggy Isles, followed by the Dead Zone and then the Cold Coast.

Okay, I just saw your list of influences, and now I'm even more excited.
Something that combines League of Legends, Avatar, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, AND Final Fantasy?
SIGN ME UP!!!
I'm certainly down for it. I can come up with a character no matter which of the areas gets picked.

Last to know and first to be blamed...
As a free action, can I regret my life choices?
Ah, it's good to see Yasei possibly back in action again.

Lol, that's why I haven't settled on a character yet. Just toying with ideas.

If your not full yet I would be interested.
The settings definitely sound very interesting.
