Backstory: Shade was a wood elf of Navarel, an elven nation in the southeast of Verenthia famous for its mighty cavalry of scimitar-wielding rangers atop fey-touched steeds. But when Verenthia fell to darkness, Navarel, along with all other nations of Velemthia, collapsed into chaos. A survivor of the anarchy and strange happenings of the darkening of Velenthia, Shade now wanders the wastes, someone who revels in darkness.
Reason for being in Verenthia: Since ‘The Darkening’ Shade wanders the wastes of Velenthia. Once a great assassin, Shade now finds work as a bounty hunter, seeking out those who use Velenthia as a place to lie low.
Class(and Archtype): Monk (intending Drunken Master but not locked to it)
Background: Folk Hero
Backstory: The former potioner known as Micheal Malety retired early to the life of a tavern cook after an argument with a wizard. They both knew the wizard was right, Mickey was no master alchemist, and his goods never performed as well as expected. So he took what he had learned and applied it, rather successfully, to kitchen duties.
At Only 30, it didn’t take long for Mickey to grow restless. In order to stave off madness, he started a bare knuckle boxing club that met outside after the tavern closed. He was always physically gifted and within a very short amount of time the club became something of a local attraction. Even the soberest of townsfolk would often come and watch Mickey drunkenly stumble through challengers in the early hours of the morning.
Eventually, however, the Innkeeper grew tired of all the broken glass and fired Mickey. He’d said Mickey was a competent cook and a damn good fighter, but his other nonsense was holding him back.
“With a good trainer, and a little discipline, you could be a real contender.”
Reason for being in Verenthia: Mickey knows the basics of unarmed combat, and he’s very dexterous because of his physical fitness and cooking, but he needs to find a true master…and maybe get a drink or two along the way.
Backstory: As a child dragons destroyed her village, killing her family. While trying to escape, a silver dragon clawed her bicep causing a deep gash. It stared at her for a long time before grabbing her gently and flying off with her. She grew up alongside the dragons, learning their language, with the silver dragon protecing her from harm, but also not allowing her to leave.
Reason for being in Verenthia: The spirits led her here after giving birth to her daughter.

Name: Ryka Grimwell
Race: Half-Orc
Class: Fighter, Echo Knight
Background: Criminal / Spy
Backstory: Ryka was an expert on weapons and armor, trading and testing them. But his brother Kyshel was jealous of his success. Kyshel worked with a thief’s guild and was arrested, and when the police asked him for names, he got all of the arrested members to agree that Ryka was the gang’s leader. This ruined Ryka's reputation and landed him a 15-year prison sentence. He escaped after 5 years in prison, and he contacted the criminal underworld, the only place he was allowed a job. They offered him a job working with poison, illegal artifacts, weapons, and deadly trinkets. But despite his wealth and newfound fame, he longed for a chance to use these weapons he knew so well. He still wields the dagger Kyshel gifted him when they were younger, watching the hungry clouds pour rain down the barren roads. He learned a valuable skill of creating an echo of himself to fight off rivals as he sat safely in the shadows. This was a skill he learned from an Eladrin crime lord, the only elf he respected and the only person he could call a mentor. But the crime lord Ryka worked for had eyes on him. The crime lord knew he was interested in leaving, and fearing a traitor, attempted to put an end to Ryka. Ryka managed to escape with the help of his gift in echo creation.
Reason for being in Verenthia: Ryka confronted a quest master, a dwarf a little on the older side, and heard of a quest no one yet was interested in. He quickly accepted this opportunity and sailed off to Verenthia.
Last, last, last minute submission. Might be too late, but I'll shoot my shot anyway.
Name: Saraphin Talus-dötter
Race: Half Elf
Class: Paladin (Redemption)
Background: Sage
Backstory:
Saraphin was never cut out for the life she was forced to lead. Her mother left when she was young, leaving her father to raise her. As a historian and linguist, they were never well off. It didn't help that much of her early life she was sickly and weak, forcing much of the little coin that came their way to go towards medical fees. Her father often went hungry trying to save enough to pay for a proper education for her, but the savings were drained as often as they were added to. When she hit the age of thirteen, however, their luck changed. Her father was hired by a wealthy benefactor for his knowledge of ancient Verenthian language, and as part of his salary they were given board at his estate. She was the same age as the children of the lord, but they were unhappy with having to share their home with Saraphin, who they considered lower than the dirt they walked on. She rarely interacted with them, outside of helping her father with their education on occasion. Years passed, and they settled into a comfortable routine. Seemingly out of the blue, when she turned sixteen the lord of the estate announced that him and his retinue would be making an expedition into the heart of the realm to search long abandoned ruins for an ancient power they'd read about in salvaged texts. To her dismay, her father informed her that he would be accompanying the expedition. They never returned.
At first, the heirs to the estate ignored Saraphin as they grieved their own father, but it didn't take long before it was clear she was no longer welcome to stay. She left soon after, making her way to a small city. She took refuge in a church there, where she was housed and fed for a short time. While there, she met a wandering knight by the name of Kell. He offered to make her his Squire in return for her teaching him what she knew of ancient Verenthian. They travelled together for a few years, teaching and learning from one another. When their paths finally diverged, Saraphin made a decision - She was going to go to Verenthia, uncover it's secrets and find out what happened to her father.
No more Submissions! People will be PM'ed about whether they made it into the Game or not!
Okay, but can you tell us when the PMs are sent so the rest of us aren't left hanging, thinking we just haven't gotten ours yet?
I agree with this. Also, when I DM a post in the forum who made it in just so everyone knows and isn't waiting, plus you don't have to send a dozen PMs.
In case anyone else is unaware, I have contacted the DM and received confirmation that the players who made it in received a PM. If you did not receive one, you did not make it.
I really wish the DM would just tell us that the PMs had been sent, especially because the DM said they'd PM us on whether or not we made it in.

This seems interesting--one question, though, how long's Verenthia been in darkness? That'll affect the character I decide to play.
Verenthia has been in darkness for a long time, most likely 10 years since the original fall.

How many players are going to be in this game total?
Have the PMs been sent yet?

Probably a good idea to switch the thread from [Recruiting] [Public] to [Closed] then, no?
I think I'm just going to assume "yes" and pull my submission.
