Zubeki finishes with the fletcher, leaving with a light crossbow, quiver, and 20 crossbow bolts. Picking throughout the stands he lightens his coin purse by buying a second waterskin, three gourds of salve, a wooden bucket, a vial or perfume, and three empty vials. Thanking the merchants and often making grand exits with prestidigitation, he is thoroughly exhausted by day’s end.
The candles in his room ignite as if they were welcoming home. Zubeki lifts the bolt of linen against off the bed and leans it gingerly against the bedpost. A final deep sigh for the night burns out the last of his arcane energy as an unseen servant undresses him and starts to pack his back for tomorrow’s adventure.
You all awake after a good nights rest and head down into the main room of Kayas and Mashurib and Zee are already there talking at a table and having breakfast. They see the party coming down the stairs and Musharib calls you over. The table is filled with various fruits and vegetables as well as different styles of eggs and a few baked foods you don't recognize but look delicious. You spend an hour eating and talking over your day's schedule which Zee describes as going to be very hot, humid and uncomfortable. She explains it is a three-day journey to the East (I know I said west but I'm changing it) The first day will be spent crossing the opening to River Tiryki, the second and third days you will in the thick of the jungle.
"Each part of the journey does have its perils but we shall overcome them. I have a boat that will get us across the bay/river and from there we are on our own into the jungle."Zee explains.
Musharib nods. "Just listen to me and Zee and you will be safe from the perils of the Jungle. Make sure you put on insect repellent each day first thing. Make sure you drink plenty of water. You need to stay hydrated. Dehydration is the biggest killer in the jungle beside a wandering T-rex or maybe the Grung is the catch you."
You need to post that each day you put on repellent or I will assume your character forgot and you will suffer the consequences. You need to post you drink in the morning, usually, while you're doing your insect repellent, you need to post some time during the day you drink water, and you need to post once at night you drank water. So you need 3 posts a day saying you're drinking water or as far as I'm concerned you forgot and you will suffer dehydration. On days that I just skip over due to a travel montage or something, it is implied it rained that day just enough to give everyone the required amount of water for the day and you used insect salve without problems.
Once breakfast is done you gather your stuff and Zee brings you outside of town where she has a rather large barge that she points to. "Here is my boat. It is a custom made barge and I am very happy with it."
The 'Barge' is over 15 feet long and is shaped in roughly a square shape, it has a center mast with a sail rolled up and it also has 8 oars for people to row if need be. There are two chests bolted onto the floor of the barge next to the mast. It has a rudder that Zee walks over to so she can steer.
"Please grab an oar and lets begone. Once we get away from the shore I will put up the sail."
You spend most of the morning sailing up the river and finally make landfall around noon time. Zee ties off her barge and nods to everyone before she enters the jungle, machete in hand.
As she begins hacking through the heavy brush and overgrown vines Jolly winces and begins to sing in a language no one understands. Zee stops for a moment and watches as the vines and brush begin to move.

"Well, I'll be," Zee says as she begins to walk through the path that Jolly was able to open.
You spend the rest of the day traveling through the brush until about 7 pm when the sun begins to set over the treeline.
'We need to set up camp for the night." Zee says as she begins looking for a suitable place.
You finally find one and set up camp. Musharib begins starting a fire while Zee helps gather firewood.

Zubeki places his large canvas backpack down and stretches his legs. No longer in an elegant coat, he wears a completely different traveling outfit. It still has fine stitching and clean lines of any of his outfits but in a muddled paisley pattern of olive and emerald greens, with shocks of yellow at the collar and cuffs. His boots are not made of fine leather and are not polished to an impeccable sheen, but are a soft, well-worn leather. He pokes a finger through a tear in his pant-leg and rubs his fingers over it as if he was rubbing out a stain, only to reveal his mending spell as removed the tear. A few dusting off with his hands and prestidigitation removes the dust, mud, and sweat from his threads. Satisfied with the condition of his outfit, he takes more time to look up into the canopy and the trees around him. He scans the area around him to take in more information about where they have stopped. (Perception: 3)
Aside from his morning ritual of silent contemplation and communion (among other noted reminder from the guides), Jolly in typical jolly fashion, cruise controls his way through the morning without much input. Mostly. He does offer the add guidance of Jannath when the need should arise for the chosen head navigator's sake, as well as passes out a few off-colored nuts and berries to the group (guides included).
"Rejuva... Rejuv... Ugh.. this tongue. These will heal you. But try save only for emergency, yah?"
With that word of warning out of the way, the giant-kin slips back into comfortable silence until later that day for the song. Still humming and occasionally jiggingly to the beat of his song, Jolly simply nods in agreement the call before beginning to unpack the tents on at least his person. As far as setting them up goes, he is more inclined to help in the endeavor than do so alone. While the kin were no strangers to the concept of creating makeshift tents as the need called for, the preference and plentiful availability of pleasant dirt ground left Jolly rusty on the subject. Hopefully with that out of the way, he will be able to then summon and redistribute more goodberry boys since the first batch have by then begun to lose their potency anyways.
For the DM:
Would Jolly's passive perception be enough to hear any noteworthy night critters nearby? Namely the size of bats or slightly larger.
The clearing you are in is a small one, about 15' in diameter surrounded by trees. Musharib set upt he campfire in the middle of the clearing while Zee collected firewood. The trees are not that large here maybe only 20' in height but you are bale to climb up and get a view over the treeline into the jungle if you wish. You can hear the sounds of the nightime beginning to come out. It started with the insects first. Hundreds of them buzzing around and making all different types of noises.
In the distance you can hear dinosaurs roaring and making other various noises. You think you hear a battle close by with trees rustling and dinosaurs roaring and crying out but it is far enough that you don't have to worry about anything.
Even so late at night the temperture is still close to 80 degrees and is very hot and sticky.
Zubeki keeps his breath focused while he closes his eyes and spends the next 11 minutes casting alarm. His staff dances in his hand and seems to sweep across him like a beacon while low murmurs of guttural chants are heard. When Zubeki opens his eyes again, there seems to be an energy of the air around them, smelling like a fresh rainfall. Though that could just be a sign of more rain, Zubeki explains. "You know, you are all lucky to have me with you. I bring a level of comfort to the wilds. I've cast a spell that will warn us if anyone other than us tries and approach this camp, so we all can get a full sleep tonight. I also can clean, mend, and most importantly, cool down the fabric you wear and the bedrolls you sleep on. And save your labor of preparing the camp for me..." Zubeki doesn't move again for 10 minutes, this time making small snapping movements and more guttural chants for unseen servant. Small stones that would interrupt sleep are moved to the edge of the camp, pieces of dry wood float and follow behind Zee, and one of the tents starts to rattle and assemble on its own. "Sit. Relax. Nights should not be a stressful time for anyone."
Naivara sets up her own tent and looks at Jolly as he distributes the nuts and berries, "Of course, only in an emergency. Thank you." She nods at him before finishing setting up her tent. She then looks at Zubeki as he speaks, she cracks a small smile then points out "The jungle is a dangerous place though, which is enough to stress out many and keep them awake at night." She sits on the ground in front of the opening of her tent. She checks to make sure she has everything on her, making sure nothing got lost on the way before she finally relaxes.
Jolly just smiles, but says nothing to contradict the wizard. Not at first, at least, though hearing of the intent of his earlier chanting does warrant a glance at the surrounding forestry. "This has been thus far rather pleasant journey, actually." Says the thick-furred, sweaty, and yet strangely fragrant smelling giant almost cheerfully. "Though speaking of wakefulness, while your incantation is a boon, young Zubeki, it would nevertheless behooves us to set up watches as a form of-..."Jolly pauses to snap his fingers a few times. "Fail safe. Yes, that is the word?" He squints uncertainly, only to shrug off the confusion in the end.
"What say you, kindly Musharib? Or one called Vrak?"He asks curiously. Of everyone aside from possibly Zee and Naivara, the two screamed a certain confidence when it came to dealing with hostile environments. "Oh! And before this one forgets." Jolly quickly sets down his pack, leaving the apparition to finish the job with the tents (if they weren't already by then). After a bit of fishing around the giant-kin eventually produces some whetstone. One after another, Vrak, Naivara, and Tygram are tossed one with only a curt whistle of warning if occupied at the time. "A gift! Unless... you did not require as much?"

Musharib shrugs as he drinks water and eats dome rations. "I do not tell you how to live. It would be wise to set up a watch though but if you choose not to that is your choice. I would suggest setting up rain-catchers every time we camp for the night. You never know when it is going to rain in the jungle and every little bit of water helps. Now, I'm heading to bed and I will see you in the morning bright and early."
Zee nods to the group and goes to sleep as well after drinking some water and eating rations.
In the morning, Tyrgram takes great care to check his stuff to make sure everything is in order. 'Just like any other camping trip.' He especially takes care to fill up his four waterskins to the brim, knowing that staying hydrated is key, even if he was not going to be lugging around all this material. He applies a dose of insect salve, feeling a bit weird of being all greased up but it is better than getting stung by insects all the time.
Most of the day, Tyrgram just follows Zee's or Musharib's lead on things inbetween drinking or having a small bite. He does turn a strange look at Jolly when the Firbolg bursts out into what he thinks is a song. But Jolly did give him free nuts and berries that "will heal him" so he does not follow up on it.
When they make camp, he takes the third tent and starts to set it up, drawing on years of boyhood experience to quickly get it done. While he is doing so, he glances over to the others.
Zubeki keeps his breath focused while he closes his eyes and spends the next 11 minutes casting alarm. Nights should not be a stressful time for anyone."
'Show-off' Tyrgram mumbles as he finishes tying a knot. He takes a step back to survey the tent. It is nothing special as far as tents go but it will perform adequately.
JAfter a bit of fishing around the giant-kin eventually produces some whetstone. One after another, Vrak, Naivara, and Tygram are tossed one with only a curt whistle of warning if occupied at the time. "A gift! Unless... you did not require as much?"
'Thanks.' Tyrgram tosses it back with a smile. 'But I brought my own. Fortune favours the prepared mind and all that, you know?' Thinking of it and hearing Musharib's mention of it, he does pull out his rain catcher and sets it up near the tent. After doing so, he returns to sit by the fire.
'Tradition dictates that stories should be told now.' His face gleams with boyish excitement. Or that could just be the thin layer of grease reflecting the light of the fire. 'Or do we partake first in the traditional bickering of who sleeps with who in which tent and who takes up watch?' He does eye Jolly as he says this for the large Firbolg, strange as his might be, has been the nicest to him so far.
The day's heat is oppressive, especially for this silver Dragonborn. He prefers the cold, but the heat it is not enough to dampen his spirits or cause him to lag behind. Finally the quest had begun. But one had to wonder how anyone survives this jungle. The insects at times seemed like they were big enough to carry a rat away if given the chance. Even Vrak's scales didn't seem to be enough to keep them away and he was thankful for the salve. He watched the guides as they seemed to move easily in the jungle. Well, this is their home. I am unsure of this place.
Vrak watched in wonder as the jungle parted to Jolly's song and was thankful as it made the travel easier. This looked like a good team Syndra had put together.
When Jolly approaches and hands him the Goodberry, Vrak looks at it for a moment and then looks to Jolly. Before Jolly could warn him to use it only in an emergency Vrak pops the berry into his mouth, tasting the fruit flavoring.
"That was excellent Jolly. Did you find that here on the island during our trek? It reminded me of the berries I ate at home, but it did not look like them. It was flavorful and filling."
He also accepts the whetstone with a gracious nod. "You bear many gifts this night Jolly. I wish I had something to give in return, but I thank you."
Vrak sets up his rain catcher near the tents and then sits by the fire.
With the tents set up Vrak looks around at the group while drinking some water. He also notices that neither of the guides sleep in tents. If they do not need a tent, then I do not need one either.
"I will forgo a tent. It is not needed. As for the watch, yes, I believe that you are right. While Zubeki's spell sets my mind more at ease it would be wise to set a watch also. I will take the last watch." He tells the others as they discuss sleeping arrangements.
With that said Vrak sets his shield next to where he will sleep. A long rest is needed and he will be up early for the watch. While he sleeps his sword is laid bare next to him, his shield at his side. Tonight at least I will sleep in my armor. I am unsure of this jungle and its dangers and feel best if I am prepared.
Jolly will pocket any stone that gets thrown back without comment or a care in the world; even when some require something of a juggling act for the giant to get a hold of them. In first in a mix of grunts and harsh sounds of giant speak, and then again in common without missing a beat, "'Give a Thousand for Nothing.' Though the 'Code' no longer binds this one as wholly as the kin, this one carries it close to heart all the same." Jolly turns to give Vrak a pained smile before settling in by the fire for at least a few minutes.
Noting the glance from the errant-knight, Jolly furrows his brows for a second, and then relax into a hearty chuckle. "Worry not, little knight. This one seeks the serenade of the stars this night, but will take up first watch, if it'll ease you."Jolly declares, either feigning ignorance at the real meaning of the look or out of genuine innocence. Such was always hard to tell about the firbolg. Though if Tyrgram heard any stories about the giant-kin, maybe there is some comfort there?
"Before then however, if there is something this one might be of aid. Speak it now, and speak truly. For while this one might have a tale or two of his home, such might be better saved for another night, neh?" He offers by way of condolence. If at which point Tyrgram makes mention of the powdered silver, the giant-kin will see to its "transmigration" into two vials of holy water largely before all have gone to bed. The vials of which he will take from his herbalism kit if necessary. Though if he can't get ahold of some water the "easy" way, he'll conjure more than enough to fill both them and his water skins.
Otherwise, with all that out of the way, along with re-greasing himself up for the next day, he wonders to the southern edge of the perimeter, seeking to request the trees blessing to rest in it for at least the watch's duration. Hoping more than certain the whole shuddering leaves was a good sign, Jolly still offers an thank-ology(?) before make his way up to the top.
'For what it's worthy, Mother Jannath, no matter how this ends, you have this one's thanks.' He thought while absently chewing on some jerky and settling in for the long night. And while eventual sleep on the ground in armor wasn't the most pleasant, wearing his Cap of Pleasant Dreams and knowing Naivara (who he made certain to wake for the change) was keeping watch more than made up for it.
“Jolly, I appreciate the support. You truly will be key to our longevity in the jungle.” Zubeki has had a goodberry once or twice in his life, the flavor always a reflection of its creator. The flavor is bright and optimistic, and while not full, Zubeki feels satiated. Placing his fingers against the leather of the waterskin, he drains out the excess heat to chill down the last of the water for the day. He washes down the flavor with one final long pull on his waterskin.
“May everyone have a restful night.” Zubeki nods, enters the tent, and starts to apply the thick salve. The smell is not grotesque, but it is strong and pungent. A small application of perfume counteracts the smell slightly, and Zubeki focuses on his breath to calm and fall asleep.
As Vrak takes over the third watch and Naivara settles back to sleep the night time sounds of the jungle begin to quiet down a little around the camp. It is a pleasant night and it got a bit cooler 73 degrees and it did rain a bit while you slept, not hard enough to wake you up but enough to fill the rain-catchers with 3 gallons of water. The ground is already dry from the rain due to the heat.
As Vrak makes his way around the camp he keeps an eye out for anything out of the ordinary but doesn't really notice anything. He returns to the fire pit trying to relight it and as he is doing so a loud pinging sound can be heard around the whole camp and everyone is woken up. Zubeki realizes right away it's his alarm spell alerting the group of danger within 20' of the campfire.
As Vrak turns he sees a 6' tall wicked looking primate charging towards him. He recalls this beast from his training. It is called a su-monster. It slashes out with it's claw at Vrak Attack: 6 Damage: 6 (slashing damage) and then lunges forward to try and bite him in the shoulder. Attack: 7 Damage: 3 (Piercing damage) Vrak is able to block the claws with his shield and as the Su-monster lunges, Vrak dodges out of the way avoiding the blow.
As Jolly opens his eyes he notices a Su-monster hanging right above him. The monster lashes out with all four claws at Jolly: Attack: 20 Damage: 13 (Slashing Damage) Jolly gets raked across the chest as blood begins to pour out from various wounds. Jolly looks gravely wounded.
Su-monsters are cunning, wicked primates that inhabit forsaken wilderness areas and caves. Adults stand 5 feet tall and have long prehensile tails. Although they can grasp tools and weapons with their tails or clawed feet, su-monsters prefer to rend prey with their claws.
Jolly's first words come out as only a grunt of pain. Hanging on by a thread to consciousness, the giant-kin can only watch at first as the monster readies to strike again. But, if given the chance to recover, old caretaker instincts will prompt the giant to snag and consume one of his few remaining Goodberry on his person, then as its healing juices courses through his frame for (4), the holy symbol about his neck flares to life.
Only with great pains will the creature be able to ignore the green veil of living energy that only ever seems to surround the firbolg when hostile intent is directed to him. Thus warded, Jolly grab his quarterstaff, rolls onto his feet, and prepares to hold his ground. His shield lays abandoned much like his pack nearby.
Vrak sees the creature lunge at him. Su-monster is all he has time to think as the creature attacks! He raises his shield just in time to block the first blow and then side steps the second. With a spin he follows the creature around tracking its movement. With a grunt he slashes out at the creature with his sword Attack 25Damage 11 . Hoping to end this quick, if the blow hits, Vrak will expend a spell slot and add Divine Smite to his strike Radiant Damage9.

Naivara jumps awake and grabs her weapons, quickly moving out of her tent and looking around. She sees Vrak handling one of the creatures and another looming over Jolly. She raises her hand muttering softly to herself as she does a little flick of her wrist to open her palm, aiming her Ray of FrostAttack: Attack: 3 Damage: 5 right at the creature above Jolly. She does this, still a bit groggy from waking up so abruptly but focuses in on that creature.

Zubeki scrambles out of the tent with staff in hand and whips his head trying to absorb the information around him. Eyes stopping on Jolly's wounds, his staff becomes a flash of energy as Zubeki whips it around him. Three darts of energy impact the beast that attacked Jolly:

'Show-off' Tyrgram mumbles as he finishes tying a knot. He takes a step back to survey the tent. It is nothing special as far as tents go but it will perform adequately.

Things Go Bump in the Night
Approximately 4:10 am
Combat Order:
Naivara (23/23) Musharib (37/37) Zee (91/91) Su-Monsters (?) Zubeki (12/12) Vrak (18/18) Jolly (4/17)
Zubeki is up, Then Vrak, Jolly, Naivara

Vrak sees the creature lunge at him. Su-monster is all he has time to think as the creature attacks! He raises his shield just in time to block the first blow and then side steps the second. With a spin he follows the creature around tracking its movement. With a grunt he slashes out at the creature with his sword Attack 25 Damage 11 . Hoping to end this quick, if the blow hits, Vrak will expend a spell slot and add Divine Smite to his strike Radiant Damage 9.

Naivara jumps awake and grabs her weapons, quickly moving out of her tent and looking around. She sees Vrak handling one of the creatures and another looming over Jolly. She raises her hand muttering softly to herself as she does a little flick of her wrist to open her palm, aiming her Ray of Frost Attack: Attack: 3 Damage: 5 right at the creature above Jolly.
Action magic missile hits the su-monster for 13
