Gijigume and Aeliarin pick up the trail and lead you into the mountains. After the most of the day travelling you approach a huge wooden stockade in a depression in the surrounding hilly terrain.
It is 300x500' with three sets of large gates entering on the south, north and east sides.
"How's Owly feel about scouting?" Fah'lin asks as he keeps low in the bushes out of sight.
Arya "For me to see through his eyes I have to be within 100'." You can see that the ground around the stockade is cleared out to at least 50' all around. "I can sneak up close enough that Owly can scout that tower (not seen in the picture - there is one of the double gates near it)." Arya does a sneak 13 and sends Owly closer. The bird flies into the tower and nothing much happens for some minutes. Then he flies back out and returns to Arya.
She comes back and reports that up in the tower is a sentry who seems to have gotten drunk and is sleeping on the job. Near him is a rope that goes to a warning bell that would alert the rest of the stockade. Down stairs in the area behind the gate are two more hill giants also drunk and asleep. "The gates are bared, it looks way too heavy for me to move."
"Well," says Thar "it sounds like getting in could be hard though I would be more concerned about getting out again. Whilst you saw 3 giants I am sure there would be more and if the whole stockade is alerted we would be in trouble. So I would think disabling the bell would be a start. Could you do that Arya without waking the giant in the tower? I could also cast Invisibility on Gijigume and Fah'lin and Fly on either so they could get in and un-bar and open the gate. We could then take out the other 2 giants and still have an avenue of escape."
"We could wait and ambush them as they leave and return, but then we lose the element of surprise against this fort." (Note: Invisibility and Fly are both concentration.)
"Can any of us cast Silence? It may not be necessary. I could here Arya all the way back here, and no alarms are going."

Arya “From what I saw, invisibility won’t be needed. No one is watching right now. This is the only time it will every be this easy. If we start taking out raiding parties (actually we already have, how overdue is that group we killed?) they will beef up their security here. I can’t do quite enough damage to kill a giant in one hit but with a bit of help these three drunken guards should go down one, two, three.
Thar’s right that we should cut the the bell rope first, just in case.”
Metagaming: any hit against a surprised target by Arya is a critical hit, average damage with sword burning is 56. If she get initiative then another 30 before it can act. You only need another 20 damage from somewhere.
"How close can we get to the tower? Is Owly able to cut a rope?"
You can get to within 50' of the tower and still be under cover. Arya "Owly could peck through the rope but it would take a long time. I could look through his eyes to watch the giant and give warning if he starts to wake. Someone could carry me while that is happening. We can close from a direction that only the tower can see."
Okay, Thar casts Fly (without a shadow of a doubt the most useful spell any of you has) on Fah'lin. He caries Arya and ??. The question is will the first three who fly to the tower (try to) kill the giant first. Or will you wait until you are all there?

"This sounds like suicide to me," comments Gijigume, "but, hey, who am I to argue with the rest of you?"
"It seems less dangerous than hunting vampires."

If you don't like danger I think you're in the wrong business.
Be that as it may -- do we need a vote or something? Stay outside and ambush giants as they leave or go into the stockade and cause mayhem there?
(OOC: Thank god for the weekends! M warehouse had its early inventory and it was hell)
Tarnce votes to go inside. Action favors the bold, and our cause is Just.

Thar favours taking out the 3 sleeping giants to at least reduce the numbers a bit. And maybe run away if it all gets too hot.
"So, shall we fly or climb?"
Extended Signature
Well as the two best climbers are also the two least stealthy I’d suggest Fly.
"If we'll fly shall we visit the tower first?"
Extended Signature
"I think that would be the most sensible," agrees Gijigume.
Flying would seem quickest." Tarnce agrees.
