Delimbiyra nods in agreement, slinging his pack over his shoulder. “I'll see what I can find for food.” He steps away from the group, slipping into the woods with practiced ease (Survival: 23). After a short time, he returns with an armful of wild ingredients: some edible mushrooms, a few wild onions, and a small bundle of leafy greens. The forest has been kind, offering just enough for a hearty broth. He places the foraged ingredients down near Gym, who’s tending to the fire. “This should do for tonight. I’ll get it ready,” Delimbiyra says, kneeling by the fire as he begins preparing the soup with the precision and care of someone accustomed to living off the land.
Gym is really enjoying the soup, he look toward Delimbiyra and smiles, Delembirya, uh Delmimbrya, ah nine hells, I never was any good at the Elven tongue. Del, this soup reminds me of the soup my mom would make every spring. The Fey ring shrooms would pop up every spring in the meadow, she'd send me out to gather'm and cook up a mighty fine Fey Shroom soup.
I agree, this soup is not bad. I remember my first night alone in the woods, I spent the entire night chasing a rabbit, and by the time night came around I had no rabbit and was twice as hungry. I ended up just using some random mushrooms I found. I'm pretty sure half of them ended up being poisonous!
Delimbiyra allows a small, satisfied smile to creep across his face as Gym stumbles over his name. “Del works just fine,” he chuckles softly, stirring the pot one last time before setting it aside. “Glad you like the broth. I’ve always preferred what the forest gives freely—no need to chase down a rabbit when there’s plenty here without shedding blood.” He glances at Doli, a glint of amusement in his eyes. “You’re lucky you didn’t end up more than just hungry after eating those mushrooms. The forest can be generous, but it can be tricky too.”
As the fire crackles and the warmth settles over the camp, Delimbiyra stands, stretching his limbs. “I’ll take the last two shifts tonight,” he offers, his voice calm. “I don’t need sleep like you lot—just four hours of meditation. I’ll keep watch after that. Rest easy, we’ll need our wits sharp come morning.” He settles down to meditate, his keen senses still alert to the sounds of the forest. (Perception for his watch, 1st / 2nd segment: 20 / 20, if with disadvantage 17 / 16)
You all settle down for a nights rest. Nothing of note happens overnight, but in the morning, the mist has turned to a full fog, making seeing even more difficult past 10ft in front of you.
Doli sleeps in a meditating position, although someone who actually enters a trance like Delimbiyra would notice he is fast asleep in that position. As he awakens he stretches similar to how a cat stretches when they wake up. He is clearly very groggy, but as he opens his eyes he notices the fog. "good morning Del. Seems like the weather won't be treating us any better today. I fear the thought of travelling in such heavy fog, but sadly I fear what might be happening to the caravan even more so I believe we shouldn't delay and start tracking them as soon as we can, if we even can track them like this. Perhaps if I-" Doli begins to slowly move his arms, tracing the pattern of his body, attempting to beckon the air around him to clear just a little, to maybe give the group just 5 more feet of vision if he can.
Doli will cast the cantrip Elementalism to create a breeze to perhaps clear just some of the fog
Gym awakens at the sound of voices and has a groggy eyed look around, buggering bugbears! Have we been magik'd away? Slowly getting to his feet and taking up his weapon.
Who knows. It could be an illusion or magically summoned, but it could also just be a very heavy fog. My "magic", if you could call it that, is not that strong.
Doli gathers his things. Regardless, we must must get a move on. and after grabbing a stick off the ground he, once again using elementalism, summons some embers to light it. (and can do the same for anyone who wants to hold a torch)
Gym breaks camp, double checking to make sure the fire embers are out. He'll pack his pack, lifting the gate on his lantern and casting light on the wick holder and attach it to his belt by a strip of leather. Looks at his new mates, Del you leading this motley group?
Delimbiyra emerges from his meditation, his senses immediately catching the oppressive fog that blankets their surroundings. He frowns, feeling a pang of worry that the dense mist might obscure the tracks they’d hoped to follow.
As Doli and Zephyrion test the air and the fog’s resistance to magic, Delimbiyra’s gaze sharpens. When Zephyrion confirms it’s an illusion, the veil lifts in his mind, and he can suddenly see through the fog with clarity (or as much the remaining fog allows). His brow furrows as he considers what might have cast such an enchantment. “Powerful magic… Someone or something doesn’t want us seeing clearly.”
He tightens his gear and shoulders his pack, giving a nod to the others as he scans the ground for their quarry’s tracks. “Let’s not waste the opportunity. I’ll lead the way—keep alert. Whoever’s hiding in these woods might not want us catching up.” With that, he takes point, following the tracks with purpose, his senses attuned to any further signs of disturbance. (Survival: 11, or 6 if with disadvantage)
As the party continues deeper along the trail, the surroundings grow eerily silent, with only the occasional rustle of leaves stirred by a faint breeze. The tracks you follow seem haphazard and, at times, almost intentionally confusing—branching in different directions or circling back on themselves. However, a clear path of broken branches and disturbed earth finally leads them to a clearing.
As you progress, the mist gets thicker and becomes a light fog (actual this time, not an illusion). Visibility is limited to about 40ft in front of you. The path leads to a small open clearing, where there are more of the large clawed footprints appearing, as well as some large gashes taken out of some of the nearby trees. In the centre of the clearing, with their back to you, is a cloaked humanoid figure. They are stood still, not seeming to react to your approach.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Doli whispers to the group Nobody make a sound. With all of these claw marks around, I highly doubt this is an ally. Our best approach is to probably sneak up and surprise them. Hit first ask questions later.
After saying that Doli will crouch and try to stealthily approach the cloaked figure, using the mist around him as cover
Doli moves silently, the mist lightly obscuring him even from the rest of the party. You are able to still make out where he is but only because you already knew where he was. The cloaked figure has no chance of hearing anyone behind them, and will have a hard time seeing Doli if they turned around (though with nothing to hide behind, you will be seen, as you are close enough to be visible)

The fog does not move. The breeze seems to pass straight through it leaving none of the impact you would have assumed

Zephyrion looks to the fog and wonders if it could be an Illusion (He is an Illusionist)

There is definitely an illusion here. Once you register that, it doesn't fool you anymore. It's still misty but your visibility is not obscured

I'll trust your eyes elf, lead on. Stay close everyone, got maybe ten feet if visibility. he takes off after Del.
