Continues his vigil, though it appears much is escaping his notice despite his best efforts. Perhaps he was still feeling a little negative? he shook his head to clear his thoughts, returning to his usual stoic, and powerful appearance. Currently he takes no notice of the human gone Firbolg, yet.
his free hand took to rubbing his scaled chin meticulously as he brooded in his own thoughts.
He is vaguely aware that there are conversations going on around him, but he just can't shake this feeling that something might go wrong, and he intended to be ready for it. Perhaps because Sildar had dodged his questions on what to expect on the way, and the fact that this caravan needed...so many guards?
Anyone paying attention would see that Azrael seemed more prepared than tense. But it was obvious he was alert, even if he wasn't seeing what he should be.
Otherwise, he kept his pace, and continued moving.
The sun went over the horizon and the party continued to move towards Phandalin as they come toward the bend they notice two lying horses sprawled about fifty feet ahead of them, blocking the path. There are several fallen trees scattered around party, making their way to this horses even harder. On the road between the fallen trees lies a lot of leaves, which is strange, since the main road was quite clean before.
Road is about 30 ft wide, to the right there is a deep forest, while on the left there is a small ravine with a depth of approximately 20 ft (10 ft wide between you and forest, you don't see what's on the bottom).
Kathleen notices the trees and says, "That seems odd. was there a storm here recently? Could a storm even do such a thing? On guard men. There is a chance that this might be a trap." Her tone is that of a female soldier rather than her usual cheery self.
Azrael's head snaps forward as Kathleen call out to the group. he would Ready his Frostbite spell in case anything happened suddenly, he would loose it at the first enemy he saw that he had a clear line of sight of. (Spell Roll: Attack: 23 Damage: 0 Spell DC 13 Spell Damage: 6)
Though as he was also the one closest to the Ravine, being to the left of the caravan, he would take just a moment to peer down it's incline, in case he could see anything there as well.
Everyone is waiting and watching for something and well.. nothing happens. Maybe it was really the storm that killed both horses or maybe they just sleep? No one sees them in detail at this distance to be sure.
Moon showed herself in full glory. Midnight is close.
Azrael watching into a ravine and sees only pitch black at the bottom, covered by leaves and knots.
"What the.. can we move this trees somehow? We are on a tight schedule." - Gundren stated.
"Someone needs to investigate this horses, any volunteers? Did they got killed with trees maybe? But both of them at the same time? This looks suspicious." - Sildar concluded.

Thormund nods, leaving his pack at the wagon. He maintains his grip on his spear, his knuckles turning white. He will slowly and carefully approach the bodies of the horses, cautious of anything that might be lying in wait.

Azrael maintains his Concentration, holding the spell, and moving forward to help guard the one(s) moving the tree. Still finding the entire situation suspicious.
Then calling out to Runmera "Perhaps you can help Borak with the trees? as a Mage, despite my build, I am not built for physical labor, and would likely prove more a hindrance, than a help...." before finally noticing there was a Firbolg among them where Runmera should have been. Takign a moment to study what he was seeing... tryign to figure out if this was what all the commotion had been moments ago...
"I will help with the trees" She volunteers. Runmera is quite strong and use to hauling large, unwieldy things around from her time living in these woods.

As Thormund approaches horses, he steps on the bear trap but notices it only when the trap collides on his leg. (Trap damage2, his speed reduced by 15ft).
Two arrows are coming from another side of a ravine aiming at horses that drive the wagon, one arrow misses, another arrow hits one horse in the neck, it goes crazy and runs with a wagon just into the ravine, alongside with both of its riders.
Two goblins with scimitars and shields rip through bellies of horses that was lying on the road and with guts and blood all over them runs at Thormund like crazy (They used Dash action, now they just at his attack range).
Another two goblins are getting out of woods that was right of you preparing their shortbows but fail to surprise party (so they don't attack yet).
OOC: now all players make their turn if there would not be surprise factor we would just decide on initiative between two groups

Releases his held spell at the goblin charging Thormund closer to his left side. A beam of frigid cold shooting forth, havign already done the verbal cast, and mystic weaving when preparing the spell. His arcane focus and holy symbol trembling in unison as his robes blow in a non-existant wind. "May Bahamut smite the evil that stands before us!"
If it hasn't been a 'turn' yet, use my original roll above, of Attack 23, Goblin needing to pass a DC 13 CON saving throw, and dealing 6 damage.
If it HAS been more than a turn, or you simply want me to reroll, then Attack: 15Con-DC 13, Damage: 3
"Ah, a trap by cowardly goblins." He utters a short prayer to his god. "Clangeddin bless this axe to strike true." Borak rushes at the nearest Goblin, draws his battleaxe now glistening in silver light and swings his axe with both hands in a wild arc trying to behead the little pest.
As a beam of icy light passes to his left, Thormund throws his body into an attack on the goblin to his right. Swinging his spear in a wide circle above his head, bringing it down in a two handed blow.
Digging the tip of the spear into the earth at the feet of the goblin, Thormund leverages himself, spinning about the spear and delivering his foot to the face of the same goblin.
Kathleen draws her bow and says, "I'll cover however wants to investigate in case something jumps out and attacks."
She gets Ready to shoot at any hostile targets that may appear. Hit: 19 Dmg:11

Thormund will stop walking and grips his spear in both hands. "A storm might explain the trees. But the horses?"
He moves his eyes about the area, scanning the area for an ambush.
