Cordelia takes a moment while Bearbur regains consciousness to look at their surroundings. If it doesn't seem dangerous, she suggests, "Let's walk upstream. Hopefully, we can regroup with the others."
Cordelia, now that you start to look around, you realize that there isn't a river mouth to be seen... The two of you are lying on the low tide line of the beach. You must have been carried out to sea and pushed back to the shore. Whether you were pushed North of the river or south of it, though...
How can you get your bearings?
(Just a reminder: Cordelia, you are still yourself, but baobur is only baobur. Amaruve isn't behind the steering wheel at the moment)

The three of you search the river past the dawn and into the morning, but to no avail. Eventually, with the sun rising higher in the sky, the light of Elodin's spell fades. Without a better option you continue on until you find yourself at the river's end where the water meets the sea.
Norn says nothing, he simply spits over the railing with a scowl. Fellori has long since dozed off, but he mutters as Fela's Blessing enters the rolling waves. Keenwhistle, though... She stares intently at the horizon, brown eyes searching for any sign of your lost friends.
"That monster..." Baobur says as the fuzzy memory of the proceeding night brushes his mind.He pulls the stopper on his flask and takes a drink. He pours the mead over his wounds, takes another drink and hands the container to Tevii as he climbs to his feet. (Handy: 8)
Slashes have scored the front of Baobur's body. Even the thick skin of the big mouse proved to be susceptible to the beast. A long cut runs from his left ear down to his snout, missing his eye by a whisker's breadth. Luckily, his breastplate took the next two claws, but the final cut dug across the brewer's belly. The wound stopped just short of opening him, but it was a near thing.
Bracing himself, Baobur tosses back a deep swallow of honey wine. Then another. Maybe just a little more until the pain begins to lessen, just a bit.
A bit for his head and a bit for his gut. Baobur washed the large wound with mead to keep it clean and prevent infection. He climbed to his feet and started walking. Against the likely current of the sea.
(Given the rotation of the stars in the night sky he could determine what hemisphere he's in. Basically if the stars rotate around a central point counter-clockwise, as with Earth's Polaris, he'd face the sea and go right. Clockwise, as with Earth's Southern Crux, he'd go left. But does Baobur know this?
He could just be wandering in the wrong direction, but he figures even a 50/50 chance of finding the way us better than waiting to starve.)

(Amaruve knows this, but Amaruve also knows that this might not hold true for every world they leap to. More to the point, it is now morning. Baobur on the other hand is very familiar with the island forest, and he knows this is the Western shore.
The Abbey at Viper lake (your original destination) is near the coast beside an unmistakable crystal clear stream. It's near the northern end of the Western shore. Without the means of finding the rest of your party, that may be your best bet.
Crabs. Definitely crabs. At full size, a single ghost crab could kill an entire patrol if caught unaware. And they've been more aggressive of late (if you recall the beginning of this arc...)
"Blast! They could have gone anywhere from here. Perhaps we should lower the sail, pull in the oars and just drift. The currents may take us in the same direction it took them?"
Baobur reaches a paw toward Cordelia, and leads her north, keeping near cover at the edge of the sand. Watching the beach ahead with musine agitation. He remains calm and quiet, Amaruve's presence leaking through, but he lacks the leisurely, confident, behavior of the bear. Baobur himself though, is more fearless and confident than other mice... The difference in the end is subtle, as each character influences the other. Baobur apparently isn't aware of the change.

Keenwhistle's ear perk upward optimistically, but Norn speaks first, "That's wisdom, grayfur, but as like to fail as not." He lifts two fingers, ticking them down point by point. "First, we dunnai whether they made it s'far as the sea. You lot seemed dead focused on the skies last night, so I'm guessing you t'were following some sign I wasn't privvy ter. Maybe yeh know better than I, but here we are." He looks darkly at the three of you, suspicion (and possibly superstition) writ across his face. "Second, allowin' that they made it this far- alive and together - who knows whether they floated out to sea or made it to the north or south side o' the river? Fela's Blesing is a slim one, but sure as shore she sits heavier in the water than your mousefolk were. Mayhaps we get caught inna deeper current and get dragged teh opposite way?"
Keenwhistle's ears drooped a bit during Norn's response. "Be that as it may, rivermaster," Her ear move upward again, resolute as she addresses Garo and Joja, "it's a plan. What say the two of you? Any other way we could go about this?"
(This will be your first team roll! After you pick a path forward, I'll set a dice total DC. The better your plan, the lower the DC. You'll get the +1 bonus from following the dragonfire beacon since I decided against a chase in the night and cut straight to the morning after it diminished.)

The two of you make decent time considering the state of your wounds, Baobur. Your body actually healed... surprisingly well. Better than it should have, oddly enough...
No time to dwell on that. Probably just the seawater. Or maybe it was the mead. Boy, you could go for another little taste of honey wine right now.
Tevii/Cordelia, your senses are on FIRE. Something is wrong. Danger. Nearby. Run. Fight. Run. Now.

"Does this place look familiar to you?" Cordelia will ask Baobur as she looks around for something high up to climb if anything.

"Baobur," Cordelia shoots a look at the would-be bear, "Run." She takes off running, glancing back only to ensure that Baobur follows her lead.
