(Sorry, to state there is a way past the pile of boxes off to the left hand side. It just cuts down the middle so you can't see past them without headed around to the side and going around.
Beyond the stack of crates he can see further into the darkened carriage. Standing on the far side of the room appear to be two juggernaut warforged. They are around eight feet tall, with wide builds, but lack any sort of equipment. There are marks on their forehead, the maker's mark that is unique to each warforged, as they appear to be inactive at the moment.
Eldin would know this but I don't because I'm not too familiar with Ebberon lore. Can Warforges auto-activate? Is it like sleeping for other races or does someone need to manually or remotely turn them on?
The clipboard Eldin grabbed appears to be only for carriage #1's cargo. There's probably another clipboard in this carriage for its load. Since the clipboard was at the back end of the carriage, one would assume this carriage's clipboard will also be on the other end from where Eldin entered. The carriages are about 15 feet tall, and the crates are loaded to about 9-10 feet high, tied down with sturdy ropes to prevent them from collapsing. There is just enough space for someone under 6 feet to stand atop them; anyone else taller would have to squat.
Luckily, Eldin is 5ft 6inches so he should be able to stand atop them. He will go back to the party and quietly whisper his plan to them.
His plan: he will attempt to climb on top of the boxes. Once on top he will lie prone and quiet so the warforge don't notice him if they wake up. He will give others enough time to come up with their own plan or make themselves scarce before he starts.
Climbing on top of the boxes: Athletics: 12 Or Acrobatics: 10 Staying hidden and climbing quietly: 20
Boo has 120' vision in darkness even magical darkness so is not using any lightscource herself for others up to them, their want or need Boo just goes with the flow. She also has her winged boots she uses sparringly but short quick bursts of flight over or arround obstacles etc is something she will do but not something to waste her time allotment. As a halfling she also has the size squeeze through spaces thing. Anyway Boo is currently just following the others lead for those whose actions have more of an impact/response but there to help as directed or for heals.
Boo listens to Eldin and watches him climb up and waits to see what the others do. For herself she keeps to the rear of group in her support healing role watching and at the ready.
Boo will first thing take Carrick's hand and lead him... both going back outside the carriage they way the came into the area between carriages (temporarily) and do the following. Boo takes out '1'ball bearings and '1'empty sack each from her equipment list. She will cast Light on the ball bearing. Put/cover/wrap the ball bearing into the sack to cover the light until needed. Hands the sack to Carrick, "keep it covered until needed, the cantrip will last for the next hour." Then quietly goes back inside the carriage with the others.
Boo will quietly look around the way they came into the carriage for this carriage's clipboard Perception22 to determine if it is at this end they came or, if not then will assume it's on the opposite end. If she locates the clipboard, Investigation24 uses the time to look it over to see if anything sticks out, especially interested crates in the area near the two Warforged, they could just be cargo but more likely, hopefully they are there to guard the dragonshards looking to see if crates near them are on the list if what they supposedly contain, if crates near them not on it then that can be telling.
If she is unable to find a clipboard at their end Boo will whisper to the others, suggesting, she or someone else go out the way they came into the carriage and move along the top outside to head to the other end of the carriage opposite them to see if s/he can get into the doors that way and find the clipboard on that side. Boo would like to avoid getting into it with the Warforged especially if the carriage does not even have the shards but for now its a wait and see thing.
P.S. Boo will seek to discourage open lights at least where she can (--yeah the whole stealth thing--) but provide like a covered light for Carrick (and anyone else who needs) something to have on hand they can bring out quickly when needed.
Sorry was on mobile before so my previous response was limited and rushed but on a laptop now with more time. So what exactly/specifically is Eldin's plan btw not sure if you are sneaking up there for a better look at the area with the Warforged or attempting to sneak past them to the other end of the carriage?Wanted to clear that up to determine if Boo or someone else may want to go along the outside top to the other side to check for the clipboard if they can rule this carriage out could just leave the Warfoged, so thinking that is Eldin's intentions but just wanted to confirm. Any event Boo hanging back for now to letting Eldin move ahead of her (and I guess the rest) to do his scouting thing or initiate his plan???
@Carrick
Hope that helps and something easy to have on hand, anyone else needs the same, let Boo know. Boo covered until you need and, ready to help you when need to move forward 'Stealth'without the light exposed... but you have it ready to, up to you when to uncover and expose.
@pokepaladdy
What kind of time to they have on the clock at this point?
In the confines of the carriage if needed could darkness be cast where the Warforged are at but say a foot above ground/floor level and upward, leaving the 1-foot gap at the floor so say Majin (those/any who cannot see in the darkness with distance attacks can like find a spot towards the floor hunker down and see the Warfoged feet disappearing up into the darkness and target them? But the Warforged being so big/tall and if affected by darkness don't know at their feet is lite... Just a hypothetical... what if, you know?
P.S. Boo has not made a stealth roll because she is not heading towards the Warforged... or following Eldin to move closer... just assuming only need to make a stealth roll when moving that way... If I need to make one, let me know.
You guessed right. Eldin plans to go along the top to get a better look at the crates surrounding the warforged and then climb down to the other side of the carriage. If he finds the clipboard on the other side, it would be easier for him to rule out this carriage and move on. He doesn't want to alert the warforged.
Thanks for confirming, I figured but was totally sure. In any event, Boo still doubles checks that end of the carriage (as I posted previously) a good look around never hurts, even a second time around (for the clipboard or anything else she may happen to spot) if nothing, np. As well she will suggest to others to keep back, for now, to let Eldin handle the scouting ahead alone but in the end, everyone is free to do what they like. Boo will still do the light for Carrick (as already stated in the previous post so that stands too) and the suggestion to keep it covered.
Darkness has a 15 feet radius, so it will hit the ceiling wherever you place it. It'll stay in place within the lightning rail, no moving rail shenanigans here. Since it goes 15 feet across unless you throw it off onto the far side, it will envelop the two warforged completely. It is also highly likely the warforged will note a spell going off, especially one that emits a huge cloud of darkness.
Thanks for the info, no real immediate plans to cast Darkness... just waiting for the others and seeing how the scouting goes, etc. Just she does not have a very good AC as most of the others so that spell is her main defense so just looking if she had to make use of it she could do it in a way that didn't completely bugger everyone else up. Given the choice, she looks to horde all her spell slots to dedicate them exclusively for healing the others so doing that is not a first go to kind of move for her rather a last ditch thing. Unlike most of the others, Boo is not designed to be a badass fighter, she is strictly a support role character, not much of a threat going head to head with anyone or anything especially without Guido with her. I was just curious in any event and had assumed spell like that going off easy to note, why she went outside the carriage to just even do the cantrip light. But thanks, you were most helpful...

Nah, the ASCII works. In that case, Eldin will still tell people to wait but will just peek around the corner instead of what I said previously.

From what Eldin knows, Warforged are aware when they are in a state of inactivity, similar to how elves are aware when they trance.
What's the space between the boxes and the ceiling? How high are the stacks of boxes?
Eldin will also check the clipboard, are any boxes here that are out of place? He will try to do this without disturbing the Warforged.

(I'll give it a bit longer for the others to sync up with the plan. Eldin has headed up and is hidden atop the boxes.)
As a human, Carrick is blind and will quietly let the rest of the party know. "Can any of you casters give me a light? I can't see a thing in here."
And he'll just stealth because there's not really anything else that he can do right now.
