The elf notices the odd looks and kinda reflexively mumbles out an apology before rummaging through books covered in strange symbols. every so often writing in a blank tome and looking at the tiefling in curiosity.
The elf carefully repacks his already full backpack and cautiously moves over to the table. "No, can't say that I do. Although I can try and guess what you're thinking." He takes out a tome and looks over it quickly "I haven't seen very many tieflings in my travels."
Kol huffs at Karriz blatant disregard of his warning, "My tribe has long known elfs steal thoughts when looking in others eyes, it is common knowledge." The Barbarian refuses to look at the elf, looking down at the table instead.
"I don't know where you are from, or where I'm form for that matter. I've been traveling since I left my home. My name is Dravius, and it's a pleasure to meet both of you."
"I understand his point of view though." The elf says. " There are a great many people who do not take kindly to my people because of old hatred or mistrust."
"I don't hate, just better to be safe about these matters. Your head is your only real safe spot and violating that is a crime against all sanity. So I will be friendly but cautious." Grumbling as he drinks.
"I understand. I'm used to the mistrust, although for different reasons. I'm a practitioner of Necromancy, although I use it to try and advance our understanding of ourselves and push through the ugly to show the beauty."
Karriz nods as he eats another piece of caramel. "Uh-huh..." He munches then swallows the last remnants. "So you cast deader magic, I know some necros, worked with 'em actually." He then looks to his empty plate. "Oh, that didn't last long, huh..."
"Well, I always wanted to expand our understanding of not just us, but of magic in general. So I chose the magic that we have chosen to outlaw because we should understand it more, and thus remove some of that fear of it." Dravius says while pondering over a book." I can see that you are adjusted well enough to necromancy." He says, tilting his head towards Scabies in emphasis "My home hated necromancers, and when they found out about me they told me to leave or die."
"That is a unnatural and unwholesome magic. The dead should stay down and spirits need put to rest, not risen to this world. I cannot say what you do is a ill intent, but I do fear it will not last. Calling evil and darkness through magic will taint you, eave you little more then itself. Tread carefully, and slowly." Kol shook his head, the elf would already be dead if he said such nonsense in his home. Raising the dead is a taboo that had one punishment, death. After they would burn the corpse and give the ashes to the ocean to purify.
"I am well aware of the power magic has to corrupt. Many a wizard has fallen to their base evils. I was never one for grave digging. I studied medicine and have taken a personal oath to stay away from desecrating the dead. I have only ever raised those that have given me permission, or those that were executed for inexcusable crimes. Believe me, i am no saint, but if I am to die for what I choose then I will die expanding our understanding of the unknown." Dravius sips from a flask. "I have tried to become a cleric but the gods did not choose me, so I learned the arcane arts and saw a way to do good out of a bad thing."
"Well we usually have shamblers as free labour." Karriz comments. "They work with the dead-book and the rest of the mortuary." Karriz picks Scabies up and tickles him under the chin, with an almost with childlike smile on his face.
"Here's that stew and mead, and here's another plate of caramel. You sure went through that quick didn't you?" Nemo asks, in their brusque voice, then a shimmer flows over their body, and the little wench asks in a motherly tone, "Can I get you boys anything else?"
"I don't like it still, just hope you stay strong. I don't think it would be hard to slip off that noble path you claim. Gods are fickled and unusual things, sometimes it is easier to just give lip service and live your own way. I still would rather believe after death is rest, not more labor."
"I believe the same, I have yet to actively raise any dead for long. I only use my powers to raise the dead if I must defend myself or if they give express permission. Still, I wish that my path wasn't one that is pushing my towards a path deemed evil."
"If you mean necromancy, it comes from where all magic comes from. Necromancy isn't explicitly evil, just slightly unnatural. If you mean the caramel," Dravius says with a smirk, "That would be a question for the barkeep and servers."

Karriz looks to the elf and waves him over. "Hey, cutter, do you read minds? This guy thinks you read our minds."

Karriz looks with excitement at the second helping of caramel. "So where does this stuff come from?" He asks. "Never seen it before."
