Hey guys and gals I'm looking for one kind soul to dm for an old guy. I'm usually the dm and never really got to play. I've got many characters made up. But want to play as a Goliath monk. If you're interested please reply back. Thanks and oss.
Nice to meet you. If you're looking for a game to join in, there's a couple of pointers to help out with this. Getting into campaigns is a little tricky as there are a lot more players than DMs at current. You can do a search on the forum (click here) to see all threads with the "Recruiting" tag. This is the Play-by-Post boards, so it's for running games here on D&D Beyond. If you are looking for something like an online game (using Roll20, Fantasty Grounds, or other popular online tools) or looking for IRL groups, then these boards (click here) are a good place to post for finding those type of groups.
If you are interested, I currently have some recruitment threads open (see my signature below) if you want to propose your character for one of them. Hope to see you on the boards sometime.
I am considering my first stab at DMing with the Dragon Heist module. I'm still working up the nerve and reading through the module, though. I will post a recruitment thread when I am confident enough to do so.
I wouldn't mind DMing a little adventure, if that's what you are looking for. Nothing terribly lofty, just some good old fashioned mischief, adventuring and small scale heroism in a secluded village. If possible, I would try to provide a spread of encounters from social to puzzle/riddle based problems, resorting to combat less frequently as that can drag (and be painfully complicated) in a pbp. Hopefully the relationships established between characters and the npc's will be more of a focus? Dunno yet - just spitballing ideas.
I know I have a good friend or two who would love to join in, so that would make two if you want to give it a shot. I know I've seen pokepaladdy around the pbp forums quite a bit (currently trying to get into either of his open recruitment campaigns, wink wink) so I imagine he might be interested as well. That makes three or four, which should be a good start, though there is certainly room for more. I would say 3-5 players is about ideal in my experience - any more and I feel like extra effort and patience is required.
A little about my DMing experience, if you care to know, I've only been playing for a little over two years, first being introduced to the game while at a summer job. Since then, I've mostly ever only run one shots for my friends off and on, but more recently have enjoyed participating in various play by posts in the forums here. I enjoy the creative effort and sense of shared storytelling that comes with DMing, and I know how tiring it gets when you are the only one out there running content for others. Alleviating that burden by playing a character again was my main motivation for seeking out this forum.
Let me know if this sounds like something you would be interested in!
