D.O.R.K.'s spear almsot knocks the hound off its feet but it is Vark who once again has the honours as he kills his fourth hound and then hits it again to make sure. He turns to D.O.R.K. and pitches Heartbreaker under armed to the Warforged "that a half-bad choppa ya got there Boss. Meant I got four from four! Not bad if'n I sez so meself!"

Lukian dismisses his flaming sphere with a wave of his hands and, seeing how Dork has the flames under control, turns to Ebonitus. "Yeth," he says with wariness. "They only come out at night, and they always serve a powerful master. I should have recognized the sound, but I haven't encountered them in many, many years. Not since before," he says vaguely. "This may mean we are being pursued. Or perhaps we've ventured into someone's protected territory."
D.O.R.K only just barely catches the axe out of the air despite the easy throw. "It is indeed. Heartbreaker is my first successful creation. And someday -- someday soon, potentially, it will be passed on to you, Vark." She goes over and pats him on the shoulder. Then seeing Beedo return, she waves him on over to fuss over the goblin, and make sure he hadn't gotten hurt.
"It is more than likely the latter, as we have eliminated all known enemies set before us on our travels."She says, only looking over at Lukian afterwards to add,"It also means that the Orcs we hunt may potentially be en-league with a greater threat. Much as the ones we faced back in Triboar. If so, we should return to our rest swiftly, so that we may be all the more prepared to face this unknown threat. Agreed?"

Vark just stares at Ebonitus for a long moment, seeming genuinely shock at the offer. "Um... naw. Stoopid mutt couldn't fook'in knick me... but... 'preciated."With that awkwardly given, the goblin went back to work alongside Beedo and D.O.R.K in getting the camp back together, and even digging out some small tripping hazards for things approaching the camp in the night, prior to returning to finish their watches. And by finish their watches, its really Vark and Beedo regaling each other on their most recent escapades/victories until it was time to wake Lukian.
Ebonitus looks understandingly at Vark's reaction. He has been an outcast for many years, and judges beings more by their actions than their appearance. Vark has demonstrated loyalty, bravery and trustwothiness, he is as deserving as any other of the comforts and necessities of recovery and repair.

As the party sets off next morning a gentle warm wind is blowing from the South. Devin turns to the others “do you realise that this is first day of Fading and some of us” – looking at D.O.R.K. and Toruun – “have been together for over a month now.”
As the party makes its way deeper into the Dessarin Hills they can follow the wagon tracks. Eventually they reach a box canyon - lined with trees and low shrubs - which the tracks lead into.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
D.O.R.K looks between Toruun and herself, and then then to Devin. "I feel there connotation there that I am missing. But, yes. In many ways this is a miracle in itself given our current objective." She replied, still sounding confused by the end, and likely to spend the remainder of the trek over analyzing it.
But eventually, they do arrive at their destination, or what appeared to be so. At which point, D.O.R.K holds up a fist for the company to halt in place, and squints at the entrance. She then without looking back holds up three fingers and motions to the left by the trees. Vark and Beedo, having understood the signal immediately, hurried off to to the left side of the trees, and would use them and the rocks along the way as cover in their advance apart from the others.
And if the unspoken plan went off without a hitch, the two would eventually reach the two shadowed trees to the north. Well before then she says, "Be on guard, and keep close to the trees to either right or left side. It is seventy-two percent likely that we may be facing an ambush going beyond this point. So, I will draw any fire. Once they've exposed their positions, take them out." She lingers there for a moment, give the others time to at least process the plan, and hopefully move off to the side.
Whether it be a hail of weaponry, or some other worse obstacle, once the others had moved off, the living construct advanced further down the path; secure in the knowledge of having already blessed or been blessed in advance in readiness for conflict. As a red gems embedded into her natural armor had faintly glowed an even deeper red since the first step.
Prep Spell Used: (3rd level)Emboldment on Vark, Beedo, and Self. (Following breaking camp, like always) (1st level)Protector's Embrace on self. (Before continuing up the path.)

As they reach the cavern Devin grips his shield a bit tighter.
"Lead away brave ones of the Red Knight. May the Lady of the Weave empower you."
Lukian descends from Golem and readies his longbow as he approaches. He will travel slowly along the edge of the trees, keeping an eye on the cave entrance. If he gets within 50 feet of the entrance, he will put away his bow and don his shield and longsword.
(@Grant: Somehow despite telling myself to remember putting something down for Golemgote, I still managed to forget. DM! Assume Dork or some that knew him well enough made a point of leading him off to the side and maybe behind some trees if at all possible to avoid any stray fire his way)

Torunn rolls over and splutters a final snore before waking. As he opens his eyes, he sniffs the air, smelling the remnants of the fires from last nights fight. He stands up, stretching with a yawn. "Did I miss anything, seems like there was some activity last night?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ebonitus descends from Golemgote and casts Pass without Trace giving +10 to stealth checks for himself and any of the party within 30 feet of him. He then advances, keeping to the trees and bushes for cover, ready with his boomerang. As they approach the cave, he switches to his mace.
Stealth: 21

"Oops" he whispers quietly as he trips over his feet.
"Salutations, Brother. Do not worry. It was determined that activities of the night prior did not require disturbing your rest. Otherwise, I would have had Vark execute Wake-Up Protocol Ninety Six, which as I understand, you favor of the most for emergency based protocol." D.O.R.K had said, a hint of mirth tainting her tone. Protocol 96, as Torunn remembered, was not even remotely the 'nice' option.
Back to the present:
Seeing that at least Devin (and likely Torunn for the usual thoughtless reasons) had chosen to follow in toe down the path, D.O.R.K would at least suggest him staying ten feet back in the event of her stumbling into a pitfall, or other like trap along the way.
