Inside the Lord Protector's Tower - Sunset (6 pm), Day 3, Third Ten-day, Month of Eleasis
"Lord Protector Darathara Shendrel? I give greetings on behalf of our group. I am Devin of Waterdeep and I serve the Lady of the Weave, Mystra. Myself and my fellow servants are on a mission of great importance. We are investigating the recent Giant activity and trouble that is occurring across the Sword Coast. We have come to Triboar as we have heard that something of importance regarding our mission will take place here soon. Do you have any artifacts or other items that the giants may consider theirs? They're Ordning has been shattered and the giants of various kinds seek artifacts that were once theirs to raise their standing in the Ordning."
"I too have heard through my contacts that the Ordning has been shattered but I know of no Giant artifacts located in or near the town. Nor as far as I am aware do the town histories mention them." she answers. You know if there is an artifact nearby you might be able to pick up its magical manifestations!" Shendrel continues. "In which case you could ask for help from a Mage called Hyuth Kolstaag who lives in a mansion(G2-G3) on the northwest edge of town. He's a thoroughly nasty piece of work and probably wont help you just because he has the power to do so. That said you might get lucky!' But if you're going to see him, don't do it at night. A couple of weeks somebody or somebodies tried to break into his mansion and we were all awoken by peals of thunder and blasts of lightning coming from Kolstaag’s estate. At least a couple of the them got away by murdering a villager and stealing the horses he was looking after."
She thinks a bit further and says "you know, if you have no luck with Hyuth, which I suspect will be the case, is the you could ask Orthovir; he owns a Harness shop" (J4) "I'm pretty sure he has some magical aptitude but he doesn't know I know so best you don't mention me!"
"Thank you." Devin replies. "I believe we will visit Hyuth in the morning then. Anything else you might be able to tell us about him that might help is persuade him to aid us? Or any other reason why giants might have an interest in this town? I don't what will happen here but something will and our sources says giants will be involved."
After their conversation is over Devin will recommend to the others that they return to the inn for the night and meet in the morning to pay a visit to Hyuth. If nothing else happens they will head to his mansion in the morning.
Devin wakes to find Lukian on his knees praying toward the window, where the morning light is streaming in. The elf turns when he hears the human stirring. Color and vitality has returned to Lukian's complexion and countenance. He gives Devin a smile as he stands. He says "Good morning" in Elvish, then repeats himself in Common. "Did you sleep well?"
D.O.R.K turned those same 'angry/battle mode' eyes on Devin. Yet, she held her proverbial tongue during the following exchange. Even after being given permission to enter as a while, she follows at the tail end of the group, and makes one last 'I got my eyes on you' motion to the much taller guards in passing. Vark, on the otherhand, had rolled his eyes at the last minute statement from the guard and moves on.
Eventually, she alongside Vark stopped a few feet ahead and off to the side of the rest, sticking true to the plan of playing bodyguard. She listens with rapt attention while mutely considering their options. If she has a question to ask or point to give however, she stays silent on the matter. Once they leave and Devin brings up heading to the mansion in the morning, D.O.R.K pipes up at last in a sullen tone, "I have noted something as far as openings to the one known as Hyuth Kolstaag. One is to see about the return of his stolen goods. The second is to offer some insight into my own design. However, I do not fully recommend the latter given the Lord Protector's insight into this individual's persona, as it may lead to further conflict in the future."
"She said some'n 'bout 'at o'er fella bein' all 'bout 'arness, rye? Fink we bring'im to Mr. G in 'e morn, see'n 'is is pretty fancy. Could wanna study fer 'elp'n us out?"Vark brings up as well on the way. To which, D.O.R.K pats him on the shoulder in thanks. "I will endeavor to keep a look out for wanted posters or the like detailing more about our thief tonight."D.O.R.K adds in a slightly more chipper voice.
Leaving the others at the Inn to get settled down for the evening, D.O.R.K spends her night patrolling the streets of Triboar by lantern light in lieu of even a Sentry's Rest. She pauses on her own accord only to jot down notes of sites of interest, map the area, scan the area for posters, and mark down points of egress a large contingent might find it easier to attack the settlement.
The next morning, after a successful evening working on his project, Torunn heads down to the common room for breakfast. "I have to apologize for my rudeness and overall grumpy attitude as of late." He says to the group. "I am nearing the end of my second project, and I am used to working undisturbed back on Lantan and all this start/stopping has resulted in it being very difficult to finish projects in a timely manner. But I can tell you I am nearly done now and will now be applying more focus to the Giant Problem at hand." He says the last part with a rare grin.
When he is done, he puts on the table one of the pistols he has made, with beautiful engravings on the handle and barrel. "Once I have this one's sibling complete, you will then have 100% of my focus."
Torunn thinks for a moment. "Well.. its a rather complicated process but I will try and keep the principles simple." He says before pausing to collect his thoughts. "Essentially there is a powder that when mixed correctly and ignited, creates something like an artificial wind, or a 'blast', as nearby objects are thrown away from the centre of ignition. Now the core principle of my weapons is by containing the blast, like surrounding it with steel, the desired projectile can be blasted in the desired direction. I hope that makes sense, but I never was good at teaching these principles."
Beedo and Vark eventually trundles after Torunn, rubbing his face. While the latter looks rested and alert, Beedo has some light bags under his eyes. "On that, I agree."He says amid a yawn. "Speak'n of. 'o usually 'as boom boom powder round town most times? 'cause I sure as 'eck woul' like some more to try make'm fire arrows like last time. Mean, 'iz only fair." He eyes Vark, who at the time appears occupied working out getting breakfast from whoever was on duty in the mornings at the Inn.

"This operative has not, as of yet." D.O.R.K decrees as she enters the Inn premises. "Good day everyone. It is hope that you have had a pleasant rest cycle. You will require it given today's event."She says to all in general, and then looks over Torunn. "It has appeared the majority of your fever passed. Fortunate."After patting or at least trying to pat him on the head, she again address the others.
"In addition, nothing to report on our previous assignment. Aside from waiting to confirm Acolyte Meiva's status--" D.O.R.K catches Vark settle in with breakfast, "And breakfast, is everyone else ready to proceed to the major?"As soon as an answer's given the construct makes a point again of bolstering at least Vark, Beedo, and herself through a prayer for Strength to see them through the day.

Visiting the Mage's House - Day 5, Third Ten-day, Month of Eleasis
After breakfast, most of the party - excluding Toruun who disappears back to his room to work on something – sets off for the Mage’s house on the northwestern edge of the town.
As they make their way up The Long Road they pass on the left hand side several ranches and a large campground, followed by livery stable and animal feed supplier before reaching what can only be described as a dive which has a sign hanging from only one hook on which appears to be a Troll on some sort of a stage.
On the right hand side of the road they pass the Lord Protectors tower, another campground and what used to be a livery stable and animal feed supplier that appears to be long since closed. Opposite the turn up to the Mage’s mansion they pass a saddler’s shop.
As the party turns off the road and starts to climb up to the Mage’s mansion they pass under a sign on which the following is written “Остерегайтесь всех, кто входит сюда. Был в аду и вернулся сильнее и противнее”. As the breast the hill, four flying creatures looking a lot like demons launch themselves from the roof of the mansion at the party.

"I don't know what that sign said but given the reception we are about to receive my guess is something along the lines of 'No admittance except on party business'. Hold here. Make no move to attack unless they attack first. Let's see what the welcome party has to say. "
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Both Beedo and Vark narrow their eyes at Devin, having already drawn and readied weapons. But at a hand signal form D.O.R.K the two lower their weapons, but keep them in hand at the very least. "Be'er 'ope 'eir first attack ain't 'ere last 'en, or we'll be rye' and proper screwed, mate." Beedo comments on. To which, Vark nods in agreement as he shuffle forwards to stand slightly ahead of the group in a guardianship sort of role.
In brief ignorance of the approaching danger however, she tries to study the sign and discern at least what language. If only for insight into the type of person the group may be dealing with soon.
"I hope so Beedo, or I'll owe you an apology. If I live to give it. But we are approaching on friendly terms seeking help so we'll be peaceful for the moment. "
At the Mage's House - Day 5, Third Ten-day, Month of Eleasis
DORK screws up her forehead, if such a thing is possible, and decides that the language is either Infernal or Abyssal - she is not sure which.
The flying demon/devil like creatures swoop down and zoom over the heads of the party at not much more than two (2) above their heads and the party is buffeted by the wind from their wings as the fly past. Two of the creatures then return to perches on the corners of the portico (over the front door) whilst the other two return to perches at either end of the mansion's main ridge line.

Beedo's bow and Vark's shield snap up in readiness to defend or attack. Fortunately, he hesitates from buffeting winds; but, he is quick to bring it back up, cursing in goblin. "Hmph! Looks like da bastids were just try'na spook us 'is time. Glad I ain't make no bets on an o'erwise."He flips the treating creatures the bird as D.O.R.K briefly steps up to the fore. "That makes two disconcerting factors. Unfortunately, we should still proceed, but remain mindful of other fiend or fiend-like entities in the wizards employ."She cants her head. "Though why use the language of a fiend tribesman as warning I cannot say."
Devin relaxes a bit as the creatures move away after the flyby. Hoping that since they didn't attack they could proceed Devin continues forward towards the mansion. If/when they reach the doors he will knock or ring the bell.
At the Mage's House - Day 5, Third Ten-day, Month of Eleasis
Devin strides under the portico all the while keeping a wary eye on the flying demonic creatures that are now perched above his head. When he reaches the doors he knocks loudly.
As he finishes knocking a mouth appears to grow out of the wood and a raspy voice says "go away! Not interested. I mean really not interested! Besides I am busy!"
